Abstract

In a process for preparing lustrous plastics articles nacreous pigments having particular grain sizes of at least 5 microns are introduced into polymerisable acrylic or methacrylic monomers or prepolymers prior to polymerisation at >/= 40 DEG C. The initiator and temperature are selected such that, for a layer thickness of 5 mm, the polymerisation time up to a yield of about 80% wt. is within the range of 21 DIVIDED 2 to 6 hrs. The final polymerisation (tempering) is carried out at 100 DEG to 120 DEG C.
