Abstract

An electromagnetic switch comprises, in a case, an electromagnet whose armature (25) is connected to a movable contact holder (16) having a row of recesses (34) housing a movable normally closed contact bridge (PR) urged by a spring (2). The recesses (34) have a U shape covered by a plate (39) mounted fixedly in the case between the armature (25) and contact holder (16) so as to form a fixed support for each contact spring 2 housed in a recess (34). The plate (39) has apertures (40) to allow passage of the contact holder (16) when the electromagnetic coil (22) is energised to open the contacts. The arrangement allows a single return spring to be used for the armature (25), whatever the arrangement of the contacts associated with the contact holder.
