In jüngerer Zeit ist ferner ein Streben nach einem stetig erhöhten Automatisierungsgrad in derartigen Logistikeinrichtungen zu beobachten, der sich im Einsatz von verschiedenen Typen von autonomen Flurförderzeugen niederschlägt. Diese automatisierten Flurförderzeuge, die teilweise auch als "Mobile Robots" bezeichnet werden, haben ihre Hauptaufgaben im automatisierten Kommissionieren und Transportieren von Lasten in Logistikeinrichtungen. Hierbei kommen beispielsweise sogenannte Unterfahr-Flurförderzeuge zum Einsatz, die mit einem Fahrzeugkörper und einer darauf vorgesehenen höhenverlagerbaren Trägerplatte als Lasttrageabschnitt ausgerüstet sind. Zum Aufnehmen einer Palette oder ganz allgemein einer Last unterfahren derartige Unterfahr-Fahrzeuge diese in einer hierfür eingerichteten Übergabestation und nehmen die entsprechende Last dann durch Anheben ihres Lasttrageabschnitts auf.
