- the present invention relates to food packing and in particular food packing for temporarily storing a food product, such as a sandwich or a piece of bread with a topping, e.g. in a lunch package.
- Another option is to use individual sheets of greaseproof paper arranged loosely around each sandwich or piece of bread and place them on top of each other in a re-useable box. In that case, it can be difficult, especially for small children, to choose another order of eating the food than from top to bottom in the package without getting the food mixed up or dropped. Hence, an improved food packing would be advantageous.

In this way, the topping from one piece of bread does not mix with topping from another piece of bread.
- the food packing may also be used for temporary storage of other kinds of food, such as cake or slices of fruit.
- the food packing is made from semi-transparent or transparent material allowing the food to be viewed through the closable packing. If the food packing is used to temporarily store a lunch comprising several different pieces of bread with different topping, the person having his/her lunch can see the food product through the food packing and choose which one to eat first.
- greyeproof is meant having a resistance against moisture from food products typically packed in a lunch package penetrating through the material during use.

- “height” is referred to the dimension perpendicular or substantially perpendicular to the back panel. The height could also be considered a depth of the packing.
- Such a configuration is advantageous as a food packing with a height tapering from the open side toward the first closed end can hold a larger, such as thicker, food product than a food packing with no height. Due to the specific configuration, such a food packing is still very simple and easy to produce, as only a small amount of extra sheet material is necessary to obtain a larger volume to hold the food product.
- the sheet is folded along its width at least twice to form a bottom panel between the front panel and the back panel, such that the front panel and the back panel are connected indirectly through the bottom panel to form the first closed side, having a height, wherein the front panel and the back panel are further connected indirectly to form the second closed side and the third closed side by means of two symmetrical rectangular side panels extending from each side of the front panel, and two symmetrical rectangular side panels extending from each side of the back panel, wherein a rectangular side panel of the front panel and a rectangular side panel of the back panel overlap each other and are adhered to each other at part of the overlap by means of adhesive material to form a closed side with a height being the same from the first closed side to the open side.

- the height of the side panels and/or the bottom panel are substantially the same. This will be a suitable design for corresponding shapes of food products.
- the flap is rectangular having the same width as the front panel and the back panel and having a length which is smaller than the length of the front panel, preferably less than half the length of the front panel, such as between 1-7 cm, preferably between 1.5-3 cm.
- a design has been found suitable for safely arranging the flap over the opening without using more material for the food packing than necessary.
- the adhesive material on the flap is provided in a straight line or area along an edge of the flap, extending along the width of the flap. This is advantageous as the open side can be closed in a substantially sealed manner. Furthermore, such a closing is easy to produce in a manufacturing process.
- the adhesive material on the flap is covered by a release liner until use.
- a release liner is a paper or plastic-based film sheet, which has typically been applied during the manufacturing process, used to prevent a sticky surface from prematurely adhering. It is coated on one or both sides with a release agent which provides a release effect against any type of a sticky material such as an adhesive or a mastic.
- covering of the adhesive material on the flap with a release liner is advantageous as prematurely adhering of the flap to other surfaces is avoided before use, and the food packing can be easily stored until use.
- the food packing further comprises a gripping tab extending from the flap and configured for gripping when manually opening of the food packing after it has been closed. This is advantageous, as it allows a user of the product to open the food packing easily when he/she needs to retrieve a food product stored within the closed food packing.
- the side panels and/or the bottom panel comprise a folding line around which the side panels and/or the bottom panel can be either folded around the folding line to obtain a flat food packing or straightened around the folding line to obtain an expanded food packing.
- straightened is preferably meant that the food packing is expanded to its configuration ready to receive the food product. This is advantageous as a bunch of food packings can be stores on top of each other in a flat configuration, without disturbing their shape or taking up too much space.
- a food packing with a height can hold a larger food product than a food packing with no height.
- the sheet is made from a material having a plasticity allowing the sheet to be folded and to keep a folded shape after being folded. This is advantageous, as it makes the sheet easy to handle and to easily fold it into a food packing.
- the sheet has a pre-determined shape.
- the sheet is a square sheet of paper, preferably a rectangular sheet of paper.
- the sheet has a shape comprising two trapezes and a square. "Square" is herein defined as quadratic or rectangular.

- the flap 5 comprises the square of the sheet 2.
- the front panel 3 and the back panel 4 are connected indirectly by means of the two symmetrical triangular side panels 13a extending from each side of the front panel 3, and two symmetrical triangular side panels 13b, extending from each side of the back panel 4.

- the varying width 20 of the side panels 13a result in a varying height 17 of the folded food packing 1 from the open side 11 to the first closed side 8.
- the side panels 13b of the back panel 4 have a length which is the same as the length of the back panel 4, but a width which varies along the length of the back panel 4.
- the side panels 13a, 13b each comprises a folding line 22, around which the side panels 13a, 13b can be either folded to obtain a flat food packing 1a with no height, as shown in fig. 3A , or to obtain an expanded food packing 1b with a height 17 as shown in fig. 3B .
- This is advantageous as a bunch of food packings 1 can be stored on top of each other in a flat configuration without disturbing their shape or taking up too much space.

- the sheet 2 is cut at each side, such that the sheet 2 can be folded twice along its width to obtain a rectangular front panel 3, a rectangular bottom panel 15, a rectangular back panel 4, four rectangular side panels 13a, 13b and a rectangular flap 5 extending from the back panel 4; see fig. 4C .
- the two rectangular side panels 13b of the back panel 4 extend beyond the length of the back panel and is only separated from the bottom panel and the rectangular side panels 13b on the front panel 3 by the cutting provided in the sheet 2.
- the sheet 2 is folded twice along its width to form the bottom panel 15 between the front panel 3 and the back panel 4, such that the front panel 3 and the back panel 4 are connected indirectly through the bottom panel 15, to form the first closed side 8.
- the front panel 3 and the back panel 4 are further connected indirectly by means of two symmetrical rectangular side panels 13a extending from each side of the front panel 3, and two symmetrical rectangular side panels 13b, extending from each side of the back panel 4.
- the rectangular side panels 13a of the front panel 3 and a rectangular side panels 13b of the back panel 4 overlap each other and are adhered to each other at part of the overlap by means of adhesive material 12 to form a closed side with a height, being the same from the first closed side 8 to the open side 11.

- the side panels 13a, 13b and the bottom panel 15 also comprise folding lines 22, around which the side panels and the bottom panel 15 can be folded to obtain a flat food packing 1a as shown schematically in fig. 4A or straightened to obtain an expanded food packing 1b as shown schematically in fig. 4B .
- the food packing 1 illustrated in fig. 4 further comprises a gripping tab 21, extending from the flap 5.
- the gripping tab 21 is configured for easy manually opening of the food packing 1 after it has been closed. Such a gripping tab 21 is suitable for all embodiments of the present invention.
