Definitions
- the invention relates to a multi-layer composite and a method for its production as well as a valuable and/or security document.
- Valuable and/or security documents which include a data carrier, are used to identify persons and/or objects.
- a data carrier can represent an insert sheet, which is bound into the passport by means of an overhang arranged on a data side of the insert sheet.
- card-shaped data carriers such as check cards, access cards, ID cards or the like are known, which consist of a multi-layer structure, in particular a multi-layer composite.
- security features are proposed for such data carriers, such as guilloches, watermarks, embossed marks, transmitted light registers, holograms or the like. These are intended to make counterfeiting more difficult or even practically impossible.
- a film security element for application to a data carrier such as a banknote, a security, an identity card or the like with a film substrate is known, which is provided with a security feature.
- the film security element has a perforation area with at least one recess that breaks through the element.
- An underlying security feature of the data carrier can be recognized visually and/or by machine through these gaps.
- a data carrier in the form of a data page is known, which is constructed in multiple layers.
- This data page includes a flap which forms an overhang in relation to the data page in order to sew the data page into a security and/or value document.
- the data page is formed by a multi-layer structure, which comprises a fleece strip and a printed sheet arranged therewith, which are connected to one another by transparent cover layers arranged on their outside.
- Customary paper pages or biaxially suitable polypropylene are used for the production of the personal data page, which are provided with polycarbonate foils on both sides.
- a data carrier such as a banknote, known, which consists of a security paper.
- a film application element in patch form is provided on this security paper.
- This includes a transparent central window area. Below this central window area of the foil application element, a translucent area is formed in the security paper by the action of a substance such as concentrated sulfuric acid.
- the combination of the transparent window area of the film application element with the translucent area of the bank note results in an area that appears bright in transmitted light inside the window area of the film application element.
- a security element such as a banknote is known.
- This includes a substrate made of a material that essentially includes paper based on natural and/or synthetic fibers.
- a first layer is applied to one side of the substrate, which serves as an impregnation and includes free areas in which a translucent ink is applied.
- a security document is made from a cellulosic material impregnated with a substance forming a transparent section.
- the data page consists of a laminate in which a flap is inserted between several layers and fixed by the lamination.
- the EP 1 502 765 A1 discloses a personalized data page of a passport in which a flexible layer is provided with a polymer layer on both sides.
- Such data sheets or data carriers have the disadvantage that manipulations of printed images, for example by covering, sticking over, painting over, cannot be detected without a more detailed check.
- the invention is based on the object of creating a multi-layer composite which enables simple detection of a manipulation of a printed image. Furthermore, the invention is based on the object of proposing a method for its production, which makes manipulation of a printed image more difficult. Furthermore, the invention is based on the object of proposing a value and/or security document with further increased security against manipulation.
- a multi-layer composite as defined in claim 1 is proposed. Due to the at least partial or at least area-wise impregnation of the fibrous layer with the melt of the hot-melt adhesive patch, the light-scattering property of the fibrous layer is reduced depending on the melt, so that opaque areas of the fibrous layer can be converted into partially translucent areas or translucent areas by the melt. This allows a Create see-through feature.
- the printed image can not only be viewed from the data side in reflected light, but is also made visible via the title page.
- the printed image can preferably be visible in reflected light from the title page, so that the printed image can be viewed from its back.
- the printed image can become visible in transmitted light due to the impregnation of the fiber layer with the melt.
- This see-through feature thus makes it possible for any manipulations on the data page by pasting over, covering or painting over the printed image to be easily detected from the title page, since the deviations from the printed image then become obvious.
- Print image is understood to mean a printed reproduction that is structured in some way or covers the entire surface.
- a structured print reproduction for example, an image such as a passport photo or portrait or a graphic print reproduction such as guilloches or background screening or alphanumeric characters or a one- or two-dimensional barcode, emblem, coat of arms, national emblem or any other print reproduction can be considered.
- the opacity of the fiber layer can be changed by introducing the quantity or the proportion of the melt in a predetermined area or at a predetermined point in the fiber layer.
- By increasingly filling the interstices in the fiber layer with a preferably clear melt increasing transparency can be created, so that not only are transition areas between opacity and partial transparency possible, but complete transparency can also be achieved. In this case, the fiber layer is completely saturated by the melt.
- the fiber layer is advantageously impregnated with a transparent melt produced from the hot-melt adhesive patch and has fibers with a refractive index that are approximately the same or identical to the refractive index of the melt of the hot-melt adhesive patch. Due to the When the melt is introduced into the fiber layer, air displacement between the individual fibers of the fiber layer is achieved in the introduced area, so that the air pockets no longer cause light to be scattered and a semitransparent or transparent or translucent effect can thus be set and achieved.
- At least the area of the fiber layer covered by the printed image is at least partially impregnated in the two-dimensional direction of extent of the data sheet and completely over the thickness of the fiber layer of the melt produced from the hot-melt adhesive patch.
- the impregnation of the melt can run along the line structure, so that only the line structure is visible in transmitted light and possibly also in reflected light.
- a covered area can also be completely filled with the melt by a full-surface portrait.
- the melt forms an outer edge around the flat printed image.
- targeted darkening or brightening by means of such a melt can also be used to protect individual areas of the printed image.
- the at least one layer made of a polymer is preferably transparent. This makes it easier to view the printed image from the title page in both transmitted and reflected light.
- this further layer on the title page can also be only partially transparent or have darkenings in the area of the printed image in order to achieve certain superimpositions or completions of the image in interaction with the printed image in order to detect manipulations more easily with the eye without technical aids.
- the fiber layer can be made from a random arrangement of natural and / or synthetic fibers exist, such as a flat Fiber bundles, a fiber network, a flat fiber arrangement, in particular a fleece, a felt, a paper or a cellulose-containing layer.
- the fibrous layer may also consist of an aligned arrangement of fibers, such as a woven fabric, a knitted fabric, a crocheted fabric, a braid, a stitch-bonded fabric or a textile.
- the fiber layer can consist of natural fibers, synthetic fibers and a mixture of natural and synthetic fibers.
- the melt of the hot-melt adhesive patch can contain materials from the group consisting of color pigments, effect pigments, optically variable pigments and/or luminescent substances or pigments or fluorescent substances or pigments. This can result in an additional increase in security against forgery.
- the fiber layer is preferably thinned out in this area.
- the fibrous layer may include thinned areas in the form of lines or areas. Squares and/or circles can be produced in a planar or linear manner.
- the thinned out areas are preferably generated by addition watermarks.
- a print image or data is printed into the thinned area, in particular using an inkjet method, and at least this area is filled with the hot-melt adhesive patch, so that at least this thinned area becomes transparent.
- the see-through feature produced by means of the impregnation and/or at least regional impregnation on or in the fiber layer can, for example, correspond to the printed image or comprise an area which is designed to be partially and/or completely transparent in order to also display spatial dimensioning or filigree structures.

- the thickness of the layers of thermoplastic polymer between which the at least one fiber layer is laminated or glued corresponds to 0.5 to 1.5 times the diameter or the minimum width of the perforation holes in the fiber layer.
- a reinforced zone is formed in the layer in the transition area from the connecting web to the layer, so that when the layer is detached from it A fracture point forms in the adjacent area due to the notch effect, which also breaks in an uncontrolled manner.
- the diameter or the minimum width of the perforation hole is at least 0.5 times the thickness of the fiber layer.
- the diameter or minimum width is 1 to 4 times the thickness of the fibrous layer.
- the geometry of the perforation holes for forming the connecting webs can be round, oval, angular, linear or strip-shaped. As a result, security features provided in or on the layer can be additionally protected in an improved manner.
- perforation holes with the same diameter or the same size of the selected geometry in the Fiber layer are introduced. This enables uniform protection over an entire data or title page.
- the perforation holes in the fibrous layer are preferably arranged in an area adjoining a printed image applied to the fibrous layer and/or within the printed image.

- the object on which the invention is based is also achieved by a method defined in claim 11 for producing a multi-layer composite.
- a local or partial impregnation of the fiber layer by means of a melt can create an individual design of a see-through feature that is diverse in terms of structure and construction, shape or geometry and can be adapted to the printed image.
- the scattering property of fibers of the fiber layer is reduced and/or eliminated, so that the degree of light transmission can be adjusted and the printed image applied to the fiber layer is visible at least in transmitted light, advantageously also in reflected light.
- a filler is applied or introduced onto and/or into the fiber layer in the areas that should not be transparent, so that there is increased transparency of the fiber layer in this area.
- kaolin, titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate and the like can preferably be used as fillers, in order in particular to achieve full-surface filling.
- the melt produced from the hot-melt adhesive patch is introduced into the fiber layer, it is preferably thinned out in at least that region. Then will the printed image is applied to this thinned area, for example from the data side, and then applied to the title page of the hot-melt adhesive patch, so that it can penetrate into the fiber layer. As a result, the thickness of the fiber layer and thus the amount of melt to be introduced from the hot-melt adhesive patch can be reduced in order to achieve a see-through effect.
- the hot-melt adhesive patch is preferably applied and heated under pressure.
- perforation holes are made in the fiber layer, which penetrate the fiber layer and a printed image is applied to the fiber layer within a print area, and at least one layer is fed and stacked on the data side and the title page of the fiber layer and the layers and the fiber layer are laminated and/or glued, connecting webs being formed in the perforation holes. This allows additional anchoring between the layers. Attempting to detach the layers from the connecting webs can lead to cracks, which form an optically active security feature.
- the diameter or the minimum width of the perforation holes in the fiber layer is determined depending on the thickness of the layer made of thermoplastic polymer and the thickness of the layer is 0.5 to 1.5 times the diameter or the minimum width of the perforation holes, or the diameter or the minimum width of the connecting bars.
- the fiber layer is impregnated or saturated with a binder before the layers of thermoplastic polymer are connected to the fiber layer, or that a coat is applied.
- the impregnation with binder can enable an improved connection between the fiber layer and layers. By applying a line, a improved printability of the fibrous layer prior to application and bonding of the layers to the fibrous layer.
- the object on which the invention is based is also achieved by a value and/or security document which comprises a multi-layer composite according to one of the embodiments described above.

- the multilayer composite 11 according to figure 3 shows an embodiment that is also used in the multilayer composite 11 according to FIG figure 2 can be provided and/or superimposed.
- the fiber layer 18 according to figure 3 comprises perforation holes 26 which extend completely through the thickness of the fibrous layer 18. These perforation holes 26 can be arranged at regular intervals or irregularly to one another or can form specific patterns or structures and be provided in the fiber layer 18 . All perforation holes 26 preferably have the same diameter.
- connecting webs 27 are formed in the perforation holes 26 through the layers 16, 17, by means of which the layers 16, 17 are connected to one another. Furthermore, it can be provided that the layers 16 , 17 are glued to form the fiber layer 18 and also form a material connection between the upper and lower layers 16 , 17 via the connecting webs 27 .
- FIG 4 12 is a perspective view of the multi-layer structure 11 in FIG figure 5 shown in which a manipulation is undertaken in which the top layer 16 is to be removed from the fibrous layer 18 by peeling or cleaving.
- fracture points 29 are produced in a targeted manner in the peeled-off layer 16, which form the fracture point 29 in the layer 16, for example as holes with an uncontrolled border.
- a defined predetermined breaking point 31 in the transition area between the connecting web 27 and the layer 16, 17 causes maximum damage when the layer 16, 17 is peeled off.
- This defined breaking point 31 is achieved by selecting an aspect ratio between the diameter of the perforation hole 26 or the connecting web 27 and the thickness of the layer 16, 17.
- the layer thickness of the layer 16, 17 is preferably 0.5 to 1.5 times the diameter of the connecting web 27 or the perforation hole 26.
- this defined predetermined breaking point 31 can be affected by the aspect ratio between the thickness of the fiber layer 18 and the diameter of the perforation hole 26 be favored.
- the diameter of the perforation hole 26 is at least 0.5 times the thickness of the fiber layer 18.
- the print area 22 of the multi-layer structure 11 is shown as an example.
- perforation holes 26 can be provided as a border of the printed image 21, so that when the printed image 21 is attempted to be detached, the entire edge area of the printed image 21 has uncontrolled breakage points.
- figure 5 is an alternative embodiment to figure 4 shown.
- perforation holes 26 are formed in the entire printing area 22, in which fiber connecting webs 27 have formed after the layers 12, 16, 17 have been connected by lamination and/or gluing.
- the fiber layer 18 is impregnated with an adhesion promoter and the layers 16, 17 are connected to one another and connecting webs 27 of the fiber layer 18 are formed.
- an adhesion promoter has the advantage that the layers 16, 17 can also deviate from one another and a positive connection can nevertheless be created between the upper and lower layers 16, 17.
- the layer 16, 17 can also be formed by two or more layers.
