Definitions

  • the invention relates to a feedthrough terminal for mounting in a wall opening in a housing wall, with a terminal housing having an inner section and an outer section, wherein a connection element is arranged in the inner section and in the outer section, and with a fastening device which can be moved from a released position into a fastening position in which the terminal housing is fastened in the wall opening, wherein when mounting the feedthrough terminal the inner section can be pushed through the wall opening from the outside.
  • Electrical terminal blocks have been around for decades and are used millions of times in the wiring of electrical systems and devices.
  • the terminal blocks are often snapped onto mounting rails, which in turn can be arranged in a plurality of them in a control cabinet.
  • the terminal blocks can also be attached alone or usually in several as a terminal block in a wall opening in a housing wall, in particular in an opening in a control cabinet wall. This has the advantage that one side of the terminals, the operator side or front, is accessible from outside the control cabinet without having to open the control cabinet. The other side of the terminal, the connection side or rear, is only accessible when the control cabinet is open.
  • Screw terminals tension spring terminals or leg spring terminals are used as connection elements in series terminals.
  • the clamping principle of tension spring terminals is similar to that of screw technology. While in screw terminals a tension sleeve pulls the conductor against the current bar by operating the clamping screw, in tension spring terminals this task is performed by the tension spring.
  • leg spring terminals on the other hand, the stripped conductor is pressed against a current bar by the clamping leg of the spring.
  • Leg spring terminals have the advantage that a stripped rigid conductor can be connected directly to the terminal without tools by inserting the conductor into the clamping point between the end of the clamping leg and the current bar.
  • connection pins or Connection sockets can be used, to which corresponding connection sockets or connection pins can then be connected.
  • Electrical terminal blocks are often connecting terminals, meaning that they have at least two connection elements that are electrically connected to one another, usually via a current bar arranged in the terminal housing.
  • this basic type of terminal block which is often also referred to as a feed-through terminal
  • the simple assembly and secure mechanical fixation of the terminals in the wall opening is of particular importance for terminal blocks that are attached to a wall opening, so-called feed-through terminals, for which various fastening devices are known from the state of the art.
  • a one-piece feed-through terminal is known in which the one-piece terminal housing is guided through the wall opening up to a stop and then a locking bracket is pushed onto the part guided through the wall opening.
  • the locking bracket locks into two opposite sides of the terminal housing so that the housing wall in which the wall opening is formed is fixed between the stop on one side and the locking bracket on the other side.
  • the disadvantage here is that the locking bracket increases the installation space required for the feed-through terminal.
  • the fitter loses the locking bracket during assembly and then cannot find it again in the control cabinet or can only find it with difficulty.
  • WO2004/088798 A1 and EP1655813 A1 similar feed-through terminals.
  • the EP 1 333 544 B1 discloses a feed-through terminal in which the one-piece terminal housing is inserted through the wall opening of a housing, whereby when the terminal housing is inserted through the wall opening, spring catches provided on two opposite sides of the housing are each pushed back by an inner edge of the wall opening.
  • a blocking slide must be used to prevent the spring catches from springing back again, which is operated from the inside of the housing, while the terminal must first be inserted from the outside of the wall opening.
  • the blocking slide also increases the installation space required for the feed-through terminal.
  • there is a risk that the end of the blocking slide protruding over the feed-through terminal will get caught on conductors that are arranged inside a control cabinet.
  • the DE 102 16 574 A1 discloses a feed-through terminal with a wall-mounted housing.
  • the housing has two fastening catches and which are designed as spring-loaded projections on the side of the housing.
  • the projections have a slanted starting side. If the housing is inserted into a wall cutout, the fastening catches spring in automatically. When the housing is fully inserted, the fastening catches can spring out again and grip behind the wall around the wall cutout so that the housing can no longer be pulled out of the wall cutout.
  • the DE 20 2010 010 424 U1 discloses a wall feedthrough terminal with a one-piece terminal housing, wherein stops are formed on the outer section of the terminal housing.
  • a locking device is provided on the inner section of the terminal housing, which has a locking element with a clamping surface with which the locking element presses against the edge of the upper edge of the wall opening in the fastening position.
  • the locking element can be moved on a rail formed on the upper side of the inner section of the terminal housing, wherein a latch is formed between the rail and the locking element.
  • the DE 103 15 661 A1 discloses a wall feedthrough terminal or a terminal block that can be fastened in a wall opening with the help of two locking elements arranged on the sides of the terminal block.
  • the locking elements are U-shaped and each have a pivotable actuating wedge that presses the two legs of the locking element against the inner edges of the wall opening in the locking position.
  • the present invention is therefore based on the object of providing a fastening option for feedthrough terminals and for a terminal block consisting of several feedthrough terminals, which ensures secure fastening of the feedthrough terminal in the wall opening with a simple operation.
  • the installation space required by the feedthrough terminal should not be increased or only increased slightly by the fastening device.
  • the fastening device has a resilient fastening element and a pivotable actuating part that can interact with the fastening element.
  • the fastening element and the actuating part are both connected to the terminal housing so that no separate components are provided that can be lost during assembly.
  • the fastening element is fastened with its first end to the outer section of the terminal housing, while its second, free end protrudes into the wall opening when the feedthrough terminal is assembled.
  • a clamping surface is formed on the second end of the fastening element, which acts against an inner edge of the wall opening in the fastening position.
  • the actuating part is connected to the terminal housing via a flexible connecting web so that it can be pivoted from a first position into a second position.
  • the fastening element In the second position of the actuating part, the fastening element is deflected by the actuating part so that the second end of the fastening element presses with its clamping surface against the inner edge of the wall opening when the feed-through terminal is mounted.
  • the feedthrough terminal according to the invention differs from the feedthrough terminals known from the prior art in that the fastening device does not have any separate components, such as a slide or a locking bracket, which on the one hand increase the installation space required by the feedthrough terminal and on the other hand can get lost during assembly.
  • the two elements of the fastening device, the spring fastening element and the pivoting actuating part are both connected to the terminal housing and thus integrated into the feedthrough terminal. This makes it possible to fix each feedthrough terminal individually in the wall opening in a terminal block composed of several feedthrough terminals. As a rule, however, it can be sufficient if only the fastening devices of some of the feedthrough terminals are brought into the fastening position in order to fix the terminal block as a whole securely in the wall opening.
  • a stop is preferably formed on the outer section of the terminal housing, which rests against the housing wall bordering the wall opening when the feedthrough terminal is installed.
  • the stop thus specifies the position up to which the feedthrough terminal can be inserted or swiveled into the wall opening during installation.
  • the stop also fixes the feedthrough terminal in the wall opening in the fastening position of the fastening element in a horizontal direction.
  • an insertion bevel is formed on the terminal housing on the side opposite the clamping surface of the actuating part, with which the terminal housing sits on the lower inner edge of the wall opening when the feedthrough terminal is mounted.
  • the feedthrough terminal is not only held by pressing the clamping surface of the fastening element against the upper inner edge of the wall opening, but is also fixed in place by that the terminal housing is pressed vertically with its insertion slope against the lower inner edge of the wall opening.
  • the design of the insertion slope on the underside of the terminal housing also ensures safe pre-assembly of the feed-through terminal in the wall opening, without the risk of the feed-through terminal falling out of the wall opening if the fastening element has not yet been moved into the fastening position by the actuating part. To do this, the feed-through terminal is swiveled into the wall opening and then lowered onto the insertion slope. By appropriately dimensioning the inner section of the terminal housing, the feed-through terminal is prevented from falling out, even if the clamping surface of the second end of the fastening element does not yet interact with the inner edge of the wall opening.
  • the design of the insertion slope also enables the feed-through terminal to be installed in wall openings of housing walls that - within certain limits - have different material thicknesses.
  • the actuating part can be fixed in its second position, in which it deflects the fastening element so that its clamping surface presses against the upper inner edge of the wall opening.
  • the fastening element has a toothing on its second end on the surface opposite the clamping surface, i.e. on the surface facing the actuating part, and the actuating part has a corresponding counter toothing on its surface facing the fastening element. This prevents the actuating part from accidentally pivoting back from its second position to the first position.
  • the toothing which is ensured, for example, by corresponding ribs, also ensures that the fixation of the feedthrough terminal in a wall opening does not come loose or become loose even in the event of vibrations.
  • the clamping surface of the actuating element preferably also has an anti-slip device, for which purpose the clamping surface can have, for example, ribs or corresponding projections or knobs.
  • the actuating part preferably has an insertion opening for an actuating tool at its free end.
  • the actuating tool can be, for example, a screwdriver, the tip of which can be inserted into the insertion opening to pivot the actuating part. This means that even a small actuating part can be pivoted easily and safely by a fitter from its first position to its second position and vice versa.
  • the feedthrough terminal according to the invention is not fastened alone in a wall opening, even if this is basically possible without any problems.
  • several such feedthrough terminals together form a terminal block, for which purpose the disk-shaped feedthrough terminals are connected to one another, in particular locked together.
  • a terminal block formed in this way can be fixed in a correspondingly dimensioned wall opening simply by moving the fastening elements of individual feedthrough terminals or all feedthrough terminals into the fastening position using the respective actuating parts.
  • the feed-through terminals are usually snapped together using locking elements on the terminal housings.
  • the locking elements preferably consist of locking pins arranged on one side of the terminal housing and corresponding locking recesses on the other side of the terminal housing.
  • the terminal block in addition to a plurality of feedthrough terminals, it also has two end elements that are attached to the two front sides of the terminal block.
  • an insertion bevel is formed, with which the housings sit on the lower inner edge of the wall opening when the terminal block is assembled.
  • the insertion bevels in the end elements are arranged in such a way that they are aligned with the insertion bevels in the terminal housings of the feedthrough terminals.
  • the end elements also serve as a type of housing cover. for the external feed-through terminals of the terminal block, so that the conductive components arranged in the terminal housings of the feed-through terminals, the connection elements and the busbar, are protected against contact.
  • the Fig. 1 to 3 show a preferred embodiment of a feedthrough terminal 1 according to the invention for installation in a wall opening 2 in a housing wall 3, which can be a control cabinet door, for example.
  • the feedthrough terminal 1 has a one-piece terminal housing 6 with an inner section 4 and an outer section 5, wherein when installing the feedthrough terminal 1, the inner section 4 is pushed through the wall opening 2 from the outside.
  • the outer section is then 5 on one side, the outside of the wall opening 2 and the inner section 4 on the other side, the inside of the wall opening 2.
  • connection elements 7, 8 are arranged, through which an electrical conductor can be connected to the feedthrough terminal 1.
  • connection elements 7, 8 are provided as connection elements 7, 8, through which a conductor to be connected is clamped against a busbar 9.
  • the feedthrough terminal 1 has a fastening device which consists of a spring fastening element 10 and a pivotable actuating part 11.
  • the fastening element 10 which is designed as a type of spring arm, is fastened with its first end 12 to the outer section 5 of the terminal housing 6 in such a way that the second, free end 13 of the fastening element 10 projects into the wall opening 2 or slightly through the wall opening 2 when the feedthrough terminal 1 is mounted, as can be seen in particular from Fig.3 is visible.
  • a clamping surface 14 is formed on the second end 13 of the actuating element 10.
  • the wedge-shaped actuating part 11 is connected to the terminal housing 6 via a flexible connecting web 15, so that the actuating part 11 consists of a Fig.1 shown first position, in which the actuating part 11 does not interact with the fastening element 10, into a Fig.3 shown second position, in which the actuating part 11 deflects the fastening element 10 so that the second end 13 with its clamping surface 14 is pressed against an upper inner edge 16 of the wall opening 2.
  • both the fastening element 10 and the actuating part 11 are thus connected in one piece to the terminal housing 6, which is usually manufactured as a plastic injection-molded part, and are thus integrated in the terminal housing 6.
  • the outer section 5 of the terminal housing 6 has a stop 17 which, when the feedthrough terminal 1 is mounted, abuts against the outside of the housing wall 3 surrounding the wall opening 2.
  • the stop 17 thus determines how far the feedthrough terminal 1 can be inserted or swiveled into the wall opening 2 during installation.
  • an insertion bevel 18 is formed on the terminal housing 6 on the side opposite the clamping surface 14 of the actuating part 10, with which the terminal housing 6 sits on the lower inner edge 19 of the wall opening 2 when the feedthrough terminal is mounted ( Fig. 4d ).
  • the clamping surface 14 of the fastening element 10 has an anti-slip device 20, which can be formed by several ribs formed on the clamping surface 14.
  • the fastening element 10 has a toothing 21 on its second end 13 on the surface opposite the clamping surface 14 and the actuating part 11 has a corresponding counter-toothing 22 on its surface facing the fastening element 10. This ensures that the actuating part 11 does not accidentally swing back from its second, locked position. This also ensures that the clamping surface 14 of the fastening element 10 is permanently pressed against the upper inner edge 16 of the wall opening 2, so that the feedthrough terminal 1 does not accidentally come loose or slip in the wall opening 2.
  • the actuating part 11 In order to be able to easily pivot the actuating part 11 from the first position to the second position even when the feedthrough terminal 1 has relatively small dimensions, the actuating part 11 has an insertion opening 23 at its free end into which the tip of a screwdriver 24 can be inserted as an actuating tool. With the help of the screwdriver 24, the actuating part 11 can also be released from the locked second position, so that a feedthrough terminal 1 can also be released from the wall opening 2 again if necessary.
  • an insertion bevel 25 is formed at the second end 13 of the actuating element 10, which in the assembled state of the feedthrough terminal 1 by the wall opening 2 protrudes or is arranged on the inside of the housing wall 3.
  • the insertion bevel 25 ensures that when the feed-through terminal 1 is swiveled in from the pre-assembled position ( Fig. 4c ) into the mounting position ( Fig. 4d ) the second, free end 13 of the actuating element 11 does not abut the upper inner edge 16 of the wall opening 2, which could hinder the installation of the feed-through terminal 1.
  • a grip recess 26 is also formed on the outer section 5 of the terminal housing 6 on two opposite sides, so that the feedthrough terminal 1 or the terminal housing 6 can be easily held by an installer with two fingers.
  • Corresponding ribs can be formed in the grip recesses 26 as anti-slip protection, as can be seen from Fig.1
  • a thin retaining web 27 is arranged between the actuating part 11 and the inner section 4 of the terminal housing 6. The retaining web 27 is present on the one hand for manufacturing reasons, and on the other hand it ensures that the actuating part 11 is in a defined position in the basic state.
  • the Fig. 4 to 6 show a terminal block 28, which consists of several feedthrough terminals 1 arranged next to one another and locked together, and two end elements 29 attached to the front sides of the terminal block 28.
  • the end elements 29 are thus arranged to the right and left of the two outer feedthrough terminals 1 and locked to them.
  • the end elements 29 essentially have the same contour as the feedthrough terminals 1, so that the end elements 29 also act as side housing walls or covers of the terminal block 28 or the external feed-through terminals 1.
  • a terminal block 28 in a wall opening 2 is described below using the Fig. 4a to 4d briefly explained.
  • the terminal block 28 with the inner section 4 of the individual feed-through terminals 1 is separated from the - in Fig.4 shown on the right - outside into the wall opening 2 ( Fig. 4a ) and then swiveled clockwise ( Fig. 4b ).
  • the individual feedthrough terminals 1 with their insertion bevel 18 and the two end elements 29 with their corresponding insertion bevels 30 sit on the lower inner edge 19 of the wall opening 2.
  • the terminal block 28 can then no longer fall out of the wall opening 2, since the insertion bevels 18, 30 prevent the terminal block 28 from slipping out towards the outside. Further tilting of the terminal block 28 in a clockwise direction is prevented by the inner sections 4 of the individual feedthrough terminals 1, which rest on the edge of the wall opening 2 from the inside.
  • the terminal block 28 is swiveled counterclockwise until it is in the Fig. 4d shown mounting position, in which the second end 13 of the fastening elements 10 of the individual feed-through terminals 1 protrudes through the wall opening 2. Fixing of the terminal block 28 in the wall opening 2 is then achieved by pressing all or individual fastening elements 10 with their clamping surface 14 against the upper inner edge 16 of the wall opening 2 by pivoting the respective actuating parts 11 from the first position to the second position using a screwdriver, as shown in the Fig. 2 and 3 is shown.
  • the Fig. 5 and 6 each show a perspective view of a terminal block 28 fixed in a wall opening 2 of a housing wall 3, wherein in Fig.5 the terminal block 28 diagonally from the back, i.e. from the inside, and in Fig.6 the terminal block 28 is shown obliquely from the front, i.e. from the outside. Also visible here are the conductor insertion openings 31 formed in both the inner section 4 and the outer section 5 of the terminal housing 6, through which one conductor per Feed-through terminal 1 can be inserted into the terminal housing 6 from the inside or from the outside, so that an inserted conductor is pressed by the clamping leg of the leg spring 7, 8 against the current bar 9 and thus two conductors can be electrically connected to one another.
