Claims (27)
- Method for adjusting mattresses or chair-beds to an operating position, comprising the steps of:providing a bed (1), having a bed frame (2) and a bed base or a board and a mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) equipped with a pivot pin (14) projecting out of its centerline, with an adjustment mechanism (5),lifting the displacement means to the pivot pins (14) of the mattress (13, 34, 61 , 71),coupling the pivot pin (14) of the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) with a hinge pin (10) of the adjustment mechanism (5),lifting the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) to such a height as to allow the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) to be pivoted about its centerline,pivoting the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) about its pivot pins (14) to an upturned position,lowering the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) until it rests on the bed base-board supported by feet,lifting the bed frame, the latter intercepting means for pushing the adjustment mechanism (5),holding the bed frame-base in position by means of bed base supporting feet.exposing the upward side of the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71), intercepting the bed frame-base with the interception means,lowering the bed frame-base with the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) with the interception means in the operating position.
- A method as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that it comprises the additional step of:- actuating a tilt system for tilting the mattress (13, 34, 71) in either direction.
- A method as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that it further comprises the step of
lifting the mattress to such a height as to allow irradiation of UV radiation into an appropriate gap between the bed base and the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) using a neon or LED lamp for dust mite removal. - A method as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that it further comprises the step of
lowering the mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) such that a distance between the latter and the bed base (67) is adapted to illuminate the lower side of the mattress with at least one neon or LED lamp for dust mite removal. - A method as claimed in claim 1, characterized in that it further comprises the step of
releasing the bed frame pushing means. - A mechanism for adjusting mattresses or chair-beds to an operating position, by carrying out the method of claim 1, with a bed (1) having a bed frame (2) supported by telescopic feet (3) that can be adjusted in a well-known manner at various heights from a floor (4), the mechanism consisting of extending guides or telescopic cylinders or drives (6 and 7), in which rods (8 and 9) run and converge into a hinge pin (10), the rods (8 and 9) having joints (11 and 12) at their free ends, a mattress (13) being disposed on the bed frame (13) and having the pivot pins (14) projecting from its centerline, and able to be coupled with the hinge pins (10) of the rods (8 and 9), characterized in that the four-bar linkage has joints (22 and 10), which are connected to each other by a slot guide (41), with one joint (22) being able to move in the slot guide (41), the rods (8 and 9) being articulated to the hinge pin (10) with a bushing (44) interposed therebetween, the hinge pin (10) extending on one side into a pulley with a return spring (43), having a cable (42) wound thereupon and fastened by a free end thereof to the joint (22), the cable (42) being tensioned at a given height of the mattress, i.e. at a given angle between the two rods (8 and 9), and with a further reduction of the angle the cable causing the pulley (43) to pivot, thereby also causing the mattress to pivot.
- A mechanism as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the hinge pin (10) extends into a disk (46) with a head (47) adapted to be coupled with the groove of a disk (48) at the end of the pivot pin (14), which can be pulled out of a tubular portion (49) attached to the bed frame of the mattress.
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 and 7, characterized in that, as the hinge pin (10) moves forward, the disk (48) is oriented by a lead-in funnel (45) which extends upon the slot guide (41).
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 7, characterized in that rods (23 and 24) are linked to the rods (8 and 9) at equal distances from the hinge pin (10), thereby forming the rods (8 and 9) of a four-bar linkage.
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 8, characterized in that the rods (8 and 9) have arms (16 and 17) attached substantially at their ends, in their retracted position in the guides (6 and 7 respectively), said arms carrying rollers, wheels or cylinders (18) adapted to contact plates (119) that project out of pockets (19) formed on the upper or lower side of the bed frame (2).
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 10, characterized in that the rods (23 and 24) extend beyond their joints (25 and 26) and their ends carry rollers or wheels or cylinders 28 that contact plates (119) projecting of pockets (19) formed on the lower or upper side of the bed frame (2).
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 11, characterized in that the hinge pin (10) is moved by levers (31 and 32) articulated to the base (33) and engaged through a slot (131) with a pin (132) projecting out of the rods (8 and 9) respectively.
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 12, characterized in that the mattress is a mattress (34) with a massage pad (35).
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 13, characterized in that the massage board is composed of a head element (38), a lumbar element (39) and a lower element (40), which are connected together and are adapted to be actuated by a lifting mechanism or actuators (138 and 140).
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 14, characterized in that the bed frame for the mattress (182) is composed of two parallel longitudinal chains-frame members (50) connected at their ends by fixed elements, the links of the chains-frame members being able to pivot about joints (51), each link of the chain-frame member having pins (52) that engage in slots (53) of plates (54) which are connected by pivot joints (55), the plates (54) being adapted to be displaced relative to the links of the chains-frame members, and their pivot joints (55) may be brought to the joints (51) of the links of the chain-frame members, the motion of the plates (54), causing the joints (51) and the pivot joints (55) to stiffen the chain-frame member (50) due to lack of coincidence of the plates (54).
- A mechanism as claimed in claim 15, characterized in that the plates (54) are moved by means of connecting rods (56), which are eccentrically connected to a disk or a ring nut (57) and to the plates (54), the rotation of the disk (57) by means of a screw (58) allowing the chain-frame member to be carried from a rigid position to a moving position.
- A mechanism as claimed in claim 15, characterized in that the displacement of the plates (54) may be obtained by one or more Bowden cables.
- A mechanism as claimed in claim 15, characterized in that the displacement from one chain-fame member to the one parallel thereto is obtained using two levers each sliding in a respective slot of a connecting rod at one end, and articulated to the other lever at the respective other end.
- A mechanism as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the displacement is obtained using at least one cable (59) hanging from the ceiling of a room, and designed to be wound around a pin (60) of a mattress (61), the mattress is lifted above the bedstead (62), the cable (59) being unwound from drums (62) to be would around a pulley (64), which is fixed to the pin (60) of the mattress (61), the rotation of the pin (60) being allowed by fixation of the cable (59) to the pulley (64) using a stop member (65).
- A mechanism as claimed in one of claims 6 to 19, characterized in that the actuator consists of a pantograph (74).
- A mechanism as claimed in claim 19, characterized in that the pulley (93) with the stop member and the return spring (94) with the cable (95) has a free or one-way wheel.
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 21, characterized in that the mattress is a mattress (13, 34, 61, 71) or a mattress (34) with a massage table (35).
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 22, characterized in that the pantograph (74) has an overlying beam (89) which has respectively transversely opposed collapsible tabs (91, 92) to intercept the bed frame (70) which is carried to a lifted position for making the bed, or is tilted in either direction if only one of the two respectively transversely opposed tabs (91, 92) is collapsed.
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 23, characterized in that the beam (89) that carries a pulley (93), a spring (94), a wire, or cable or chain cooperates with the pivot pin (72), thereby lifting the mattress (71) by means of the pantograph (74), the wire or cable or chain (95) connected at its free end to a connection (96) under tension causing the mattress (71) to rotate through 180°.
- A mechanism as claimed in claim 6, characterized in that the cable (42, 95) is attached at any stationary location relative to the pulley (93).
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 25, characterized in that two or more mechanisms of this type are provided for each bed or mattress respectively.
- A mechanism as claimed in claims 6 to 25, characterized in that the cable (42, 95) is attached at its free end to any location, such as the underframe or underbase.
