Abstract

The method of manufacturing the lighting element consists of that, the transparent and evenly diffusing light plates have to be /1/ one by one and permanently connected together through coating their joined surfaces with a high fluidity adhesive/2/ and then by pressing them together through moving the construction between pressing rollers until a multi-layered, even element is created.
The side surfaces of the lighting element have one by one sprayed layers of: light reflecting putty /3/ and light blocking lacquer and/or paint /4/. At the back of the element, in the longitudinal channel /5/, there is a particularly elastic tape /6/ with - on one side - connected to it parallelly- diodes /7/ on a printed circuit lighting at right angles and forward; and on the other side with two-coloured light blocking foil/8/: black from the inside and white from the outside. The channels /5/ is covered with a lid /9/ secured using an adhesive leak sealant /10/ with a port /11/, while the front of the element is finished with a screen /12/ made from particularly colourful plastic.

Description

  • The subject of the invention relates to the method of manufacturing the lighting element and the lighting element suitable to be used particularly in advertising.
  • Well known methods of manufacturing involve the production of the lighting element from one plate, which evenly diffuses light. This method has a following disadvantage: the plate of large thickness of above 10 mm, which evenly diffuses light, is difficult and expensive to manufacture. Known lighting elements of any shape are made from one plate evenly diffusing light and contain diodes in yellow or other colours placed in a channel. Such construction makes the lightning element to emit light unevenly in different points and colours and creates the unwanted lighting points.
  • The method of manufacturing of the lighting element according to this invention is that the transparent and evenly diffusing light plates have to be one by one and permanently connected together through coating their joined surfaces with a high fluidity adhesive and then by pressing them together through moving the construction between pressing rollers until a multi-layered, even element is created; its side surfaces have to be protected by spraying them with a light reflecting putty, and then with lacquer or/and paint blocking the light from escaping-outside:
The use of diodes lighting at right angles and forward increases the light intensity in the element and its good visibility from long distances.
  • In the lighting element according to this invention, there is a high fluidity adhesive layer between the light diffusing plates. The side surfaces of the element consist of one by one sprayed layers of: light reflecting putty and lacquer and/or paint blocking the escaping light out , while at the back of the element, in the longitudinal channel, particularly an elastic tape is placed with - on one side - connected to it, on a printed circuit, parallel-connected diodes lighting at right angles and forward; and on the other side the two-coloured light blocking foil: black from the inside and white from the outside; besides that the channel is covered with a lid secured using an adhesive leak sealant with a port. The front of the element is finished with a screen made from particularly colourful plastic.
  • The solution according to this invention allows for cheap production of lighting elements of large thickness from in thin plates of 10mm thickness with an effect of even diffusion of light. Moving and pressing the glued plates between rollers distributes the adhesive evenly and removes possible air bubbles. The use of light blocking foil makes the light diffuse and in homogeneous colour. An additional light diffusing element is the adhesive, which connects the plates together. Smoothing down adds smoothness and levels the side surface, while spraying with lacquer and/or paint makes it impossible for the light to escape out of the lighting element. The use of the glue leak sealant seals the lighting element, allowing for its usage in severe weather conditions.
  • The invention shall be described in details in the drawing, where fig. presents the lighting element in a shape of a letter in an axonometric projection, fig. 2 -lighting element in a shape of a letter, view from back with a partly uncovered lid, and fig. 3 presents the lighting element in a shape of a letter in cross-section in an A-A plane.
  • In this example of manufacturing, between the light diffusing plates 1 there is a layer of high fluidity adhesive 2. The side surfaces of the lighting element have the following, one by one sprayed layers of: light reflecting putty 3 in white colour and light blocking lacquer 4, while at the back of the element, in the longitudinal channel 5, an elastic tape 6 is placed with - on one side - connected to it parallelly - diodes 7 on a printed circuit lighting at right angles and forward and on the other side with two-coloured light blocking foil 8: black from the inside and white from the outside. The channel 5 is covered with a lid 9 secured using an adhesive leak sealant 10 with a port 11, while the front of the element is finished with a screen 12 made from plastic in the colour in which the letter is supposed to emit. The channel 5 is finished on the inside with a chamber 13 allowing to place a power lead 14, connection to the track of the printed circuit of the tape 6 and an outlet outside through the port 11.
