Definitions
- the present invention relates to a section sealing section "U" intended to be fitted on the periphery of a panel, such as glazing for building window, and to be housed inside a frame .
- the invention also relates to such a window comprising a frame type "U” rebate on which this panel is reported with interposition of this sealing profile.
- the sealing profiles 1 intended to be fitted on the periphery of a building glazing 2 generally have a U-shaped cross section formed by two legs 3 and 4 connected by a base 5, and they are made of a flexible material it is easy to lengthen when laying the profile 1 on the glazing 2, which is the first step of the assembly operation.
- the frame 6 of the window - also of U-section and made of PVC or aluminum, for example - is interlocked on the profile 1 previously placed on the glazing 2.
- the document JP-A-9 032 429 has a U-shaped sealing profile for glazing which, for a good implementation during the fitting on this glazing and for a good resistance to tearing, comprises at the end of each leg of the U a portion of flexible sealing, the rest of the profile being more rigid.
- This sealing portion covers the upper half of the inner face of each leg and the top of the latter, and it comprises two flexible lips pressing on the glazing.
- the document BE-A-720 134 discloses a sealing profile according to the preamble of claim 1 appended to this description.
- An object of the present invention is to provide a section sealing section "U" intended to be fitted on the periphery of a panel and to be housed inside a frame, which remedies the all of the aforementioned drawbacks, this section comprising a base intended to be mounted against a peripheral edge of the panel and two legs respectively comprising two sealing portions intended to be sealingly applied to the panel on either side of this wafer, the profile incorporating (ie in one piece) extension means which, during mounting of the profile, to elongate in the direction of its height measured from its base and which are located below the portions of sealing, so as to facilitate the interlocking of the profile on the panel and in the frame and to optimize the sealing contact between these sealing portions and the panel.
- a profile according to the invention is such that all or part of said extension means are located at the respective lower ends of said legs and / or at the lateral ends of said base connected to these legs.
- extension means may be located indifferently at the only lower end of each leg, at the only lateral end of the base, straddling these lower and lateral ends, or in combination with other means of extension. which are located on each leg above the corresponding lower end, as explained below.
- these extension means may comprise 2n intermediate portions (n integer equal to or greater than 1) flexible and deformable which are coextruded with the rest of the profile and which are softer (ie of lower Shore hardness) than the rest of the profile, with the exception of said sealing portions.
- said intermediate portions each extend over the length of the profile being symmetrical two by two with respect to the median longitudinal plane of the profile.
- said extension means are further located in each leg in at least an intermediate portion thereof defining two zones separated from each other on the height of this leg.
- these other extension means are located exclusively between the sealing portion of the corresponding leg and said base (ie below this sealing portion and above this base).
- each leg at least one of said intermediate portions located above the base can be located in a lower zone of this leg substantially perpendicular to said base, an oblique upper zone s' extending above this intermediate portion away from the other leg and ending with said sealing portion.
- these intermediate portions may extend at least over the entire adjacent thickness of the profile (for example over the entire thickness of each leg and / or the base). It will be noted that these intermediate portions could extend as a variant only over part of the thickness of the profile.
- each extension means according to the invention - whether it is located at the lower leg end and / or at the base lateral end, or above this base - can each be made of at least one elastomeric or thermoplastic material having a Shore A hardness which is inclusively between 0 and 80.
- these intermediate portions may each be made of a thermoplastic elastomer type "TPV"("TPV" for "ThermoPlastic Vulcanizate”) preferably a thermoplastic transformation crosslinked elastomer such as that described in the patent EP-B-840 763 in the name of the Applicant, comprising a polymerization elastomer with a metallocene catalyst and a grafted polyolefin.
- the profile according to the invention can be made, with the exception of said sealing portions and said intermediate portions, in at least one elastomeric or thermoplastic material having a Shore D hardness which is included between 20 and 60, of so as to minimize the longitudinal elongation of the section once nested on the periphery of the panel.
- the latter material is a thermoplastic olefinic elastomer semi-rigid type "TPO"("ThermoPlasticOlefin” elastomer "), whose coefficient of friction with the material of said frame (such as aluminum or PVC) is decreased and in fact promotes sliding.
- thermoplastic elastomers respectively for the coextruded flexible and semi-rigid parts of the profile of the invention also allows the production of colored profiles and makes it possible to obtain improved thermal insulation compared to that of known profiles, especially rubber, containing conductive fillers such as carbon black, because these "TPV” and “TPO” have a lower thermal conductivity.
- the use of these "TPV” and “TPO” advantageously results in a weight gain of the profile obtained, because of a lower density than a conventional rubber mixture, as well as by an easier recycling .
- At least one of said intermediate portions of each leg which defines the two separate zones on the height of this leg may have, on its internal face facing the other leg, at least one flexible support lip coextruded and intended to elastically press on the panel so as to improve the tear resistance of the profile vis-à-vis the latter.
- the inner face of said or each intermediate portion (which defines these two zones separated on the height of each leg) may be substantially concave being delimited by these support lips which are then two in number and are respectively adjacent to said zones separated by this intermediate portion.
- the or each support lip is made of an elastomeric or thermoplastic material having a Shore A hardness inclusively between 0 and 80.
- At least one of said intermediate portions of each leg which defines the two separate zones on the height of this leg may have, on its outer face intended to be turned towards said frame, at least one foldable lip coextruded which extends substantially parallel to said base and which is intended in particular to provide bending a lateral wedging of the profile in this frame by facilitating the passage of the panel provided with the profile during its assembly in the rabbet and to ensure recovery manufacturing tolerances.
- said or each foldable lip is made of an elastomeric or thermoplastic material having a Shore A hardness of between 30 and 90 inclusive.
- said sealing portion of each leg may comprise a substantially fork-shaped free end with two sealing lips intended to be sealed against one face of the panel, this free end being adapted to tilt around a tilt axis located between these two sealing lips so as to facilitate the interlocking of the profile on the panel while avoiding the inversion of these lips in contact with said wafer and this panel face.
- the two sealing lips of each leg can be connected to the rest of the leg by an oblique section which extends with a decreasing thickness towards these lips being directed towards the other leg and away from said base said tilting axis being substantially located at the junction between this oblique section and said sealing lips, which form between them an angle of about 90 °.
- a building window according to the invention comprises a glazing panel mounted on a frame of this window which is of "U" shaped rebate type, and this window is such that the panel is attached to this frame with the interposition of a profile sealing according to the invention as defined above.
- the sealing profile 101 according to the invention of section "U" which is illustrated in the figure 3 is particularly intended to be applied on the periphery of a glazing 102 (see figures 5 and 6 ) for a building window, and to be housed inside a frame 103 also in "U” (visible at Figures 4, 5 , 7, 8, 9 and for example PVC or aluminum).
- This profile 101 comprises, in a known manner, a base 104 intended to be mounted against a peripheral edge 105 of the glazing 102 and two legs 106 and 107 respectively comprising, at their free ends, two sealing portions 108 and 109 intended to be applied in a manner sealed on two opposite faces 110 and 111 of the glazing 102 on either side of the wafer 105.
- Each flexible and deformable extension portion 112, 112 ' (having a Shore A hardness varying from 0 to 80 and preferably made of a "TPV” such as Vegaprene®) is coextruded with the remainder of the profile 101 and is softer (ie of lesser Shore hardness) than base 104 and that the remainder of this leg 106, 107 (which both have a Shore D hardness of 30 to 50 and are preferably made of a semi-rigid "TPO"), with the exception of the sealing portions 108 and 109, also coextruded.
- TPV Shore A hardness varying from 0 to 80 and preferably made of a "TPV”
- Vegaprene® a "TPV”
- extension portions 112, 112 ' are designed to allow, during assembly of the profile 101 on the glazing 102 and in the frame 103, to lengthen the two legs 106, 107 identically in the direction of an increase. their height (measured by definition from the base 104 in the X direction), so as to facilitate the interlocking of the profile 101 on the glazing 102 and in the frame 103 while optimizing the sealing contact between these sealing portions 108, 109 and the glazing 102.
- the intermediate extension portion 112 of each leg 106, 107 separates two respectively lower 113 and upper 114 zones between them over the entire thickness of this leg 106, 107 (measured along the Y direction) and over the entire length of the profile 101, the extension portions 112, 112 'of the section 101 being in this example symmetrical to each other with respect to the median longitudinal plane P of the profile 101.
- the lower zone 113 is substantially perpendicular to the base 104, while that the upper zone 114 has an oblique portion 115 which deviates from the other leg 107, 106 and which ends with the sealing portion 108, 109, which is for example formed by two flexible sealing lips 116 and 117 for sealingly pressing on the faces 110 and 111 of the glazing 102.
- each intermediate extension portion 112 has, on its substantially concave internal face facing the other leg 107, 106, two flexible support lips 118 and 119 coextruded and intended to elastically bear on the glazing 102.
- This inner face is defined below and superiorly by the support lips 118 and 119.
- the latter are for example both made of a "TPV" Shore A hardness can vary from 0 to 80, and they are designed to improve the tear resistance of the assembly during the maneuvering efforts of the frame 103 on the profile 101. Note that it would be noted that it would not be outside the scope of the invention to provide a single flexible support lip on the inner face of each extension portion 112, instead of the two lips 118 and 119 .
- each flexible support lip coextruded eg the two lips 118 and 119 of the figure 3
- the or each flexible support lip coextruded could have a Shore hardness lower than that of the rest of each extension portion 112, for example between 0 and 40 Shore A.
- each extension portion 112 has, on its outer face intended to be turned towards the frame 103, a foldable lip 120 coextruded which extends substantially parallel to the base 104 and which is intended in particular to provide by bending a lateral wedging of the section 101 in the frame 103 by facilitating the passage of the glazing 102 provided with the section 101 during its assembly in the rabbet and ensure the resumption of manufacturing tolerances of the components of the assembly.
- This foldable lip 120 is for example also made of a "TPV" of Shore A hardness which may vary from 30 to 90. It will be noted that it would not be outside the scope of the invention to provide a plurality of foldable lips on the outer face of the invention. each extension portion 112, instead of the single lip 120.
- each foldable lip coextruded eg the lip 120 of the figure 3
- the or each foldable lip coextruded could have a Shore hardness identical to that of the rest of each extension portion 112.
- both the or each inner support lip that the or each foldable outer lip each extend directly from the corresponding extension portion 112, to allow their deformation during assembly of the section 101.
- the profile 301 according to the first variant of the invention illustrated in FIG. figure 3a (of which only one leg 306 is visible in connection with a lateral portion of the base 304) is essentially different from that of the figure 3 , in that it comprises only two intermediate extension portions 312 (only one is visible at the figure 3a ) located at the location of the lower connecting bead 304a connecting the leg 306 to the base 304.
- Each extension portion 312 thus extends from the lower end of the leg 306 to a lateral end 304b of the base 304.
- the profile 401 according to the second variant of the invention illustrated in FIG. figure 3b (of which only one leg 406 is visible in connection with a lateral part of the base 404) is different from that of the figure 3a , in that the only two intermediate extension portions 412 that it comprises (only one is visible at the figure 3b ) are limited to the only part of the lower connecting bead 404a which is adjacent to the lateral end 404b of the base 404, without extending on the leg 406 itself.
- the sealing profile 101, 301, 401 of the invention between the glazing 102 and the frame 103 of the window, starting by fitting this profile (for example, such as that of the figures 3 , 3a or 3b ) on the perimeter of the glazing 102, then by fitting the frame 103 against this profile 101, 301, 401 thus arranged around the glazing 102 so as to make the bases and the legs of the frame 103 coincide with those of the profile 101, 301, 401 .
- this assembly can be achieved by inserting the profile 101 to 401 in the rabbet 103a of the frame 103 (see the figure which shows in solid lines two positions of the section 201 respectively out and in the rabbet 103a, and an intermediate position in broken lines of this section 201 for insertion into this rebate 103a), and then fitting the frame 103 and equipped with the profile 101 to 401 on the perimeter of the glazing 102 (see figure 5 which shows two positions of the glazing 102, with a position out of the frame 103 in solid lines and a mounting position in the rabbet 103a in broken lines).
- each leg 206, 207 is formed by a pivoting fork with two sealing lips respectively upper 216 and lower 217, which are intended to be plated tightly on a face 110, 111 of the glazing 102.
- This fork is adapted to tilt around a pivot axis Z located between these lips 216 and 217, to facilitate the fitting of the profile 201 on the glazing 102 while avoiding the flipping of the lips 216 and 217 in contact with the wafer 105 and the faces 110 and 111 of the glazing 102 (see Figures 8 and 9 ).
- the lips 216 and 217 are connected to the remainder of the leg 206, 207 corresponding by an oblique section 210 which tapers towards these lips 216 and 217 being directed towards the other leg 207, 206 and the opposite of the base 204, the tilting axis Z being located at the junction of the oblique section 210 and the lips 216 and 217, which form between them an angle ⁇ of about 90 °.
- this oblique section 210 it forms a shoulder 211 intended to abut against the free end 103b of the corresponding leg of the frame 103.

Description
The present invention relates to a section sealing section "U" intended to be fitted on the periphery of a panel, such as glazing for building window, and to be housed inside a frame . The invention also relates to such a window comprising a frame type "U" rebate on which this panel is reported with interposition of this sealing profile.
The time allocated for the installation of these U-shaped sections is generally very short, it is not conceivable to ensure that the operator will pay the necessary attention to avoid lengthening the profile.

An object of the present invention is to provide a section sealing section "U" intended to be fitted on the periphery of a panel and to be housed inside a frame, which remedies the all of the aforementioned drawbacks, this section comprising a base intended to be mounted against a peripheral edge of the panel and two legs respectively comprising two sealing portions intended to be sealingly applied to the panel on either side of this wafer, the profile incorporating (ie in one piece) extension means which, during mounting of the profile, to elongate in the direction of its height measured from its base and which are located below the portions of sealing, so as to facilitate the interlocking of the profile on the panel and in the frame and to optimize the sealing contact between these sealing portions and the panel.
For this purpose, a profile according to the invention is such that all or part of said extension means are located at the respective lower ends of said legs and / or at the lateral ends of said base connected to these legs.
It will be noted that these extension means may be located indifferently at the only lower end of each leg, at the only lateral end of the base, straddling these lower and lateral ends, or in combination with other means of extension. which are located on each leg above the corresponding lower end, as explained below.
It will also be noted that the elongation in the direction of an increase in the height of the legs of the U which is provided by these extension means makes it possible to ensure a good positioning of the profile when it is interlocked on the glazing and in the frame, while ensuring that the flashings of the sealing portions are perfectly pressed against the two opposite faces of the panel.
Advantageously, these extension means may comprise 2n intermediate portions (n integer equal to or greater than 1) flexible and deformable which are coextruded with the rest of the profile and which are softer (ie of lower Shore hardness) than the rest of the profile, with the exception of said sealing portions.
Preferably, said intermediate portions each extend over the length of the profile being symmetrical two by two with respect to the median longitudinal plane of the profile.
According to one embodiment of the invention, said extension means are further located in each leg in at least an intermediate portion thereof defining two zones separated from each other on the height of this leg.
In this case, these other extension means are located exclusively between the sealing portion of the corresponding leg and said base (ie below this sealing portion and above this base).
According to another characteristic of the invention, in each leg, at least one of said intermediate portions located above the base can be located in a lower zone of this leg substantially perpendicular to said base, an oblique upper zone s' extending above this intermediate portion away from the other leg and ending with said sealing portion.
According to another characteristic of the invention, these intermediate portions may extend at least over the entire adjacent thickness of the profile (for example over the entire thickness of each leg and / or the base). It will be noted that these intermediate portions could extend as a variant only over part of the thickness of the profile.
Also advantageously, the profile according to the invention can be made, with the exception of said sealing portions and said intermediate portions, in at least one elastomeric or thermoplastic material having a Shore D hardness which is included between 20 and 60, of so as to minimize the longitudinal elongation of the section once nested on the periphery of the panel. Preferably, the latter material is a thermoplastic olefinic elastomer semi-rigid type "TPO"("ThermoPlasticOlefin" elastomer "), whose coefficient of friction with the material of said frame (such as aluminum or PVC) is decreased and in fact promotes sliding.
It will be noted that this semi-rigid part of the profile (as opposed to the more flexible intermediate and sealing portions) makes it possible to guarantee the positioning of the profile on the edge of the glazing during the interlocking operation.
It will also be noted that this improved low coefficient of friction advantageously exhibited by the "TPO" used to form the semi-rigid part of the profile of the invention (except for intermediate and sealing portions) makes it possible to dispense with depositing on this profile. a sliding promoter agent vis-à-vis the frame to facilitate mounting on the latter, such as a silicone emulsion. This removal of the slip promoter on the semi-rigid part of the profile avoids all the disadvantages associated with the use of such an agent, such as its migration on the glazing which is sometimes incompatible with the silicone, which is for example the case of self-cleaning or screen-printed glazing.
It will further be noted that the aforementioned preferential use of "TPV" and "TPO" thermoplastic elastomers respectively for the coextruded flexible and semi-rigid parts of the profile of the invention also allows the production of colored profiles and makes it possible to obtain improved thermal insulation compared to that of known profiles, especially rubber, containing conductive fillers such as carbon black, because these "TPV" and "TPO" have a lower thermal conductivity. In addition, the use of these "TPV" and "TPO" advantageously results in a weight gain of the profile obtained, because of a lower density than a conventional rubber mixture, as well as by an easier recycling .
According to another characteristic of the invention, at least one of said intermediate portions of each leg which defines the two separate zones on the height of this leg may have, on its internal face facing the other leg, at least one flexible support lip coextruded and intended to elastically press on the panel so as to improve the tear resistance of the profile vis-à-vis the latter. Advantageously, the inner face of said or each intermediate portion (which defines these two zones separated on the height of each leg) may be substantially concave being delimited by these support lips which are then two in number and are respectively adjacent to said zones separated by this intermediate portion. Preferably, the or each support lip is made of an elastomeric or thermoplastic material having a Shore A hardness inclusively between 0 and 80.
According to another characteristic of the invention, at least one of said intermediate portions of each leg which defines the two separate zones on the height of this leg may have, on its outer face intended to be turned towards said frame, at least one foldable lip coextruded which extends substantially parallel to said base and which is intended in particular to provide bending a lateral wedging of the profile in this frame by facilitating the passage of the panel provided with the profile during its assembly in the rabbet and to ensure recovery manufacturing tolerances. Preferably, said or each foldable lip is made of an elastomeric or thermoplastic material having a Shore A hardness of between 30 and 90 inclusive.
According to another characteristic of the invention, said sealing portion of each leg may comprise a substantially fork-shaped free end with two sealing lips intended to be sealed against one face of the panel, this free end being adapted to tilt around a tilt axis located between these two sealing lips so as to facilitate the interlocking of the profile on the panel while avoiding the inversion of these lips in contact with said wafer and this panel face. Advantageously, the two sealing lips of each leg can be connected to the rest of the leg by an oblique section which extends with a decreasing thickness towards these lips being directed towards the other leg and away from said base said tilting axis being substantially located at the junction between this oblique section and said sealing lips, which form between them an angle of about 90 °.
A building window according to the invention comprises a glazing panel mounted on a frame of this window which is of "U" shaped rebate type, and this window is such that the panel is attached to this frame with the interposition of a profile sealing according to the invention as defined above.

- Profiled sealing strip (101, 201) as claimed in claim 4, characterised in that at least one of said intermediate portions (112, 212) of each side wall (106, 107) defining the two zones (113 and 114) separated across the height of this side wall has, on its internal face directed towards the other side wall (107, 106), at least one co-extruded flexible support lip (118 and 119) designed to be elastically supported on the panel (102) to make the profiled strip more resistant to being torn off the latter.
- Profiled sealing strip (101, 201) as claimed in claim 11, characterised in that said internal face of said or each intermediate portion (112, 212) defining the two zones (113 and 114) separated across the height of each side wall (106, 107) is substantially concave, being bounded by said support lips (118 and 119), of which there are two and which are respectively adjacent to said zones (113 and 114) separated by this intermediate portion.
- Profiled sealing strip (101, 201) as claimed in claim 11 or 12, characterised in that said or each support lip (118, 119) is made from a thermoplastic or elastomeric material having a Shore A hardness inclusively within the range of between 0 and 80.
- Profiled sealing strip (101) as claimed in claim 4 or one of claims 11 to 13, characterised in that at least one of said intermediate portions (112) of each side wall (106, 107) defining the two zones (113 and 114) separated across the height of this side wall has, on its external face designed to be directed towards said frame (103), at least one co-extruded pliable lip (120) extending substantially parallel with said base (104) and which is designed in particular to provide the profiled strip with a lateral adjustment in the frame, thereby affording an easier passage for the panel (102) fitted with the profiled strip when it is being mounted in the window rabbet (103a) and to ensure that the manufacturing tolerances are restored.
- Profiled sealing strip (101) as claimed in claim 14, characterised in that said or each pliable lip (120) is made from a thermoplastic or elastomeric material having a Shore A hardness inclusively within the range of between 30 and 90.
- Profiled sealing strip (201) as claimed in one of the preceding claims, characterised in that said sealing portion (208, 209) of each side wall (206, 207) comprises an essentially fork-shaped free end with two sealing lips (216, 217) designed to be applied in a sealed manner against a face (110, 111) of the panel (102), this free end being designed to pivot about a pivot axis (Z) disposed between these two sealing lips in order to facilitate fitting of the profiled strip on the panel whilst preventing these lips from being turned back on contact with said section (105) and with this face of the panel.
- Profiled sealing strip (201) as claimed in claim 16, characterised in that said two sealing lips (216 and 217) of each side wall (206, 207) are joined to the rest of the corresponding side wall by an oblique section (210) which extends towards these lips with a decreasing thickness, being directed towards the other side wall and opposite said base (204), said pivot axis (Z) being disposed substantially at the point where this oblique section and these sealing lips join, the latter subtending an angle α) of approximately 90°.
- Building window with a glazing panel (102) mounted on a window frame (103) of the type with a U-shaped rabbet (103a), characterised in that the panel is mounted on this frame with a profiled sealing strip (101, 201, 301, 401) as claimed in one of the preceding claims disposed in between.
