Description

The invention relates to methods for the production of shoes whose width adapts to feet of different width, according to the preamble of claim 1.

In order for a shoe to fit on the foot without pressing, the length, width and instep height must be as exact as possible. However, this is only possible with custom-made shoes, because people's feet are very different. There are broad feet, narrow feet, high feet, sick feet, deformed feet. In many cases even the right and left foot of the same person are different. Since not every person can afford custom shoes, the shoe industry has come up with a system that includes ten shoe sizes for each shoe size. However, the production of so many different shoes contradicts the basic principle of mass production.

It is known that a shoe then gets an optimal shape and durability when the shaft is pulled over a last and stitched or sewn onto an insole or Stohlelsohle. If, however, the shank is partially made of elastic material, as is the case here, this technique is no longer possible because the shank can be slightly overstretched when pulled over the last. That is unsatisfactory.

The present invention has for its object to provide a simple and above all safe method for the production of shoes whose width adapts to feet of different width.

This object is achieved by a method having the features of claim 1.

An essential advantage of the method according to the invention is its simplicity and safety. Claims (3)

1. A method of producing shoes, the width of which adapts to feet of different width, with a shoe sole (1) and a shoe upper (2), comprising outer material, lining, toe cap and/or heel piece, substantially comprising the steps of:

   - producing a shoe upper (2) with outer material, lining, toe cap and/or heel piece using elastic materials for the upper (2) at least in the vicinity of the inner and outer toes and the joint curvature of the foot,

   - pulling the upper (2) over a last,

   - mounting the upper (2) on an insole or strobel-stitched sole,

   - and fastening it to a sole (1),

   characterised by the features:

   - covering the elastic zone (3) of the upper (2) with a non-elastic locking strip (5),

   - and removing the locking strip (5) after the fastening of the upper on the sole.
2. A method according to Claim 1, characterised by the feature:

   - blocking the elastic zone (3) of the upper (2) in the vicinity of the middle of the shoe with a non-elastic material (4).
3. A method according to Claim 1 or 2, characterised by the feature:

   - use of stretch leather or stretch synthetic material for the elastic outer material (2).
