- the present invention relates to improvements made to containers made of thermoplastic material and provided with a bottom of the type known as "Champagne bottom” (that is to say a bottom which is strongly curved towards the interior of the container), said bottom comprising a central button projecting downwards (that is to say in the concave face of the bottom), a peripheral support zone by which the container can rest stably on a substantially flat support, and ribs radiating from from said central button to said peripheral support zone.
- the so-called “Champagne bottoms” offer the advantage of allowing the creation of a peripheral, flat and above all continuous support zone over its entire extent, so that they provide a remarkably stable seat for the containers placed on a substantially flat support.
- Bottoms of this type are particularly advantageous when the containers are filled with liquids under pressure (carbonated drinks for example) because these bottoms, by their shape with strong convexity turned towards the inside, are intrinsically resistant to the pressure which is applied to them from the inside and they are therefore stable.
- obtaining these advantageous characteristics requires a sufficient thickness of thermoplastic material, which thickness is notably greater than that of the wall of the body of the containers (see for example the document FR 2 730 471) and makes the manufacture of the containers more delicate. by blow molding or stretch blow molding from heated preforms.
- Numerous variants of the production of Champagne bottoms are known which tend to obtain improved characteristics of flatness and stability of said bottoms, often in conjunction with the search for a minimum thickness of the material and therefore a lower cost price of these containers.
