Definitions
- the present invention relates to a display device in which a support carrying several posters scrolls under the control of a mechanism so as to successively present each of the posters in a viewing area.
- the poster support is usually moved in the vertical direction so as to successively present each poster in a static position.
- a scrolling display device comprises a poster support tape stretched between a first roll and a second roll so as to be able to unwind from a first roll and wind around the second roll while scrolling past a display area, and vice versa, and a device for controlling the scrolling of the poster support which comprises a mechanical transmission cable driven by a driving pulley to wind around a first pulley and unwind from a second pulley, and vice versa, the aforementioned first and second pulleys being mounted to drive the first and second rollers in rotation.
- the mechanical transmission cable is stretched between a first pulley mounted on the axis of the first roller and a second pulley mounted on the axis of the second roller so as to wind around a first of said pulleys and unwinding from the second pulley, and vice versa, during each rotation of the first and second rollers, each of the first and second aforementioned pulleys having a peripheral surface oblique to the direction of the axis of the pulley.
- the oblique angle of the peripheral surface of the above pulleys is chosen so that the variation in the winding perimeter of the transmission cable on each of the pulleys is proportional to the variation in the effective diameter of the corresponding roller, i.e. - say proportional to the length of the poster support wound on the roll and to the thickness of the posters wound with the support on the roll concerned.
- the winding perimeter of the transmission cable is always proportional to the winding diameter or actual unwinding of the corresponding roller, that is to say the length of the poster support actually wound with the posters around the roller concerned. This ensures a constant running speed of the poster support under constant tension.
- the device for controlling the scrolling of the poster support according to the invention, it is not only possible to present posters under a constant voltage, but it is also possible to present posters in continuous movement during part or all of them. a scrolling session, which attracts the interest of passers-by and increases the impact on the public seeing the posters.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view, with cutaway, of the interior mechanism of an exemplary scrolling display device according to the invention
- Figure 2 is an enlarged view of an example of a fastening device for fixing a poster on its support
- Figure 3 is a plan view of the scroll control system integrated in the display device shown in Figure 1;
- FIG. 4 diagrammatically represents the state of the scrolling control system at the start of a scrolling session of the poster support and the corresponding winding state of the poster support on the unwinder and take-up rollers;
- FIG. 5 schematically represents the state of the scrolling control system at an intermediate stage during the scrolling of the poster support and the corresponding winding state of the poster support on the unwinder and take-up rolls;
- FIG. 6 diagrammatically represents the state of the scrolling control system at the end of a scrolling session of the poster support and the corresponding winding state of the poster support on the unwinder and take-up rolls.
- the posters are fixed on a support tape 100 wound around a roller 11 and, when the device is in operation, the tape carrying the posters is unrolled of the roll 11 in the direction of the arrow F to wind around the second roll 12.
- the direction of travel is reversed and so continued under the control of a scroll control device which will be described later.
- Each roller alternately plays the role of winding roller and that of unwinding roller.
- the ribbon 100 presents the posters that it carries in a viewing area where each poster can be exposed for a predetermined period of time.
- the device can be provided for a double-sided display.
- the rollers 11 and 12 and the control mechanism are mounted in a frame 10. The assembly is intended to be wrapped in any covering and integrated into various urban furniture.
- the tape 100 can be made of any material, for example a polyester film.
- the posters 110 are for example fixed on the tape 100 using double-sided stickers. Maintaining the positioning of each poster is ensured by static electricity between the ribbon and the poster.
- the lateral edges of the posters are for example held by longitudinal tabs 20.
- FIG. 2 shows, on an enlarged scale, a section in a tab 20 holding the adjacent edges of two contiguous posters 110 which are positioned on the tape 100 by means of stickers 111.
- the retaining tab 20 is fixed to the tape by means of an adhesive strip 21.
- the winding diameter on each roll varies as a function of the length of ribbon wound with the posters on the roll in question.
- the speed of rotation of each of the rollers 11 and 12 must be controlled during each running of the tape 100. This control is carried out by the control device of the scrolling, better visible in FIG. 3, so as to ensure that the speed of rotation of each roller is at all times proportional to the effective winding perimeter on the roller considered.
- the scroll control device is based on a direct mechanical connection between the first roller 11 and the second roller 12.
- the mechanical connection is made by a mechanical transmission cable 15 which, when driven by a driving pulley 18, drives pulleys 13 and 14 integral with the axes of the rollers 11 and 12.
- the pulley 13 is mounted on the the axis of the roller 11 and the pulley 14 is mounted on the axis of the roller 12.
- the pulleys 13 and 14 are for example grooved pulleys.
- the rollers are rotated by means of the transmission cable 15 driven by the drive pulley 18.
- the latter is coupled to a motor member, for example a geared motor 19 controlled by a frequency converter.
- the direct drive of the driving pulley 18 makes it possible to communicate to the transmission cable 15 a constant running speed.
- Each of the pulleys 13 and 14 has a peripheral surface which is oblique to the direction of the axis of the pulley.
- FIGS. 4 to 6 show three positions of the transmission cable 15 and l 'corresponding winding state of the ribbon 100 on the rollers 11 and 12 during a scrolling session.
- the roller 11 plays the role of unwinding roller while the roller 12 plays the role of winding roller during the scrolling session described.
- FIG. 4 shows, at the top, the position of the transmission cable 15 at the start of the tape running session 100 when the latter is completely wound on the unwinding roller 11 and, at the bottom, the state d 'corresponding winding of the tape 100 on the rollers 11 and 12.
- the transmission cable 15 is completely wound around the pulley 14 associated with the winding roller 12.
- the transmission cable 15 drives the latter in rotation.
- the ribbon 100 is then wound around the roller 12, scrolling in the direction of the arrow F.
- FIG. 5 shows, at the top, the position of the transmission cable 15 at an intermediate stage during the ribbon running session and, at the bottom, the corresponding state of winding of the ribbon 100 on the rollers 11 and 12.
- the transmission cable 15 is partially wound around the pulley 13 and partially unwound from the pulley 14 while the ribbon 100 is partially wound around the roller 12 and unwound in part from the roller 11.
- FIG. 6 shows, at the top, the position of the transmission cable 15 at the end of the ribbon running session when the latter is completely wound on the take-up roller 12 and, at the bottom, the corresponding winding state ribbon 100 on the rollers 11 and 12.
- the transmission cable 15 is at this time completely wound around the pulley 13 and completely unwound from the pulley 14 while the ribbon 100 is now fully wound around the roller 12. A a new reverse scroll assignment can then begin.
- the winding perimeter of the cable 15 varies as a function of the position of the cable 15 on the peripheral surface of each pulley.
- the variation in the winding perimeter of the transmission cable 15 on each of the pulleys 13 and 14 is proportional to the variation in effective thickness of the corresponding roller, that is to say each time proportional to the length of the tape 100 which is rolled up with the posters on the roll concerned.
- the tension on the cable 15 is kept constant by a detour pulley 16 mounted on the frame.
- the detour pulley is made integral with an elastic compensation device 17 arranged so as to take up all the variations in thickness which occur on each roll during the scrolling of the ribbon 100 and the posters which it carries. These variations in thickness depend on the number of posters wound with the ribbon 100 on each rolls, irregularities in the winding diameter on each roll due to the presence of the fasteners fixing the posters on the tape, and any other variation or irregularity.
- the elastic compensation device consists of a gas cylinder on the head of which the detour pulley is fixed 16. It is understood that the cylinder can be replaced by any other device or equivalent arrangement mounted to fulfill the same function during the scrolling of the ribbon carrying the posters.
- a particular advantage of the device according to the invention is that the scrolling speed can be constant from the first to the last poster fixed on the tape 100.
- the number of posters is more than two, it is possible to obtain a time equal display and an equal display sequence for all posters with the same poster at both ends of the series.
- the scrolling of the ribbon in the horizontal direction advantageously makes it possible to scroll the posters in the running direction of the passers-by and in the direction of movement traffic on communication routes.
- the device according to the invention can be provided with a forced ventilation system.
- the device can also be provided with an internal heating system.
