Definitions
- the present invention relates to date display devices for equipping timepieces of the type comprising a movement and hands driven by this movement and displaying the time.
- One solution to this problem is to provide the device with first and second display members rotatably mounted on the movement, arranged under a dial provided with cutouts. These organs are respectively intended to display the units and tens of the date by means of numbers, visible through these cuts.
- the device further comprises a movement-controlled drive and positioning mechanism arranged to blow one and / or the other of the organs once a day.
- Such a device is, for example, described in the patent CH 310,559 .
- This device is controlled by a clockwork movement, by means of a wheel performing a turn in 24 hours.
- the latter causes 1 / 31st of a turn, and once a day, a mobile with two superimposed wheels.
- the display members are formed of two disks arranged side by side, one displaying the tens of the date and the other the units, the current date appearing in a cutout of the dial.
- the mobile and the disks are arranged so that, when the number of the units of the date displayed is equal to 0 or between 2 and 8, only the disk of the units is driven, when the number of the units is equal to 9, the units and tens disks are both driven, when the units digit equals 1 and the tens digit is 0, 1 or 2, only the drive disk is driven, and when the units digit equals 1 and the tens digit to 3, only the tens disk is driven.
- Such a device makes it possible to display the date by means of large numbers.
- EP 0 619 035 Another solution is described in the EP 0 619 035 . It relates to an electronic watch of analog type, in which the date is displayed by means of two needles. The first indicates the tens, in four positions making an angle of 90 ° between them, while the second displays the units, in ten positions equally distributed on a turn.
- This solution can be considered only to the extent that numbers are in front of the position of the needles. This is necessary to enable reading because the hands do not occupy a usual position for a given value, as is the case with the display of the hour and the minute.
- the purpose of the present invention is to allow a display of the calendar in a particularly readable manner while participating in the aesthetics of the room.
- the display device which is intended to equip a timepiece of the type comprising a movement, a dial and hands, the latter being driven by the movement and displaying the time, comprises first and second display members, rotated by the movement, for respectively displaying the date units and tens, and a movement-controlled driving and positioning mechanism arranged to blow the one and / or the other display organs once a day.
- the first member is mounted on the movement, pivoting about an axis which is perpendicular to it and carries an index, and in that the mechanism and the first member are arranged so that when the mechanism passes the display date units of a value n to n + 1, n being an integer between 1 and 9, the first member traverses, in the clockwise direction, an angle equal to 30 °, and that when n is equal to 1, the index is in a position corresponding to the position with respect to said dial, which would occupy an hour hand, pivoting about the axis of the first member, when it is one hour.
- the mechanism and the first member are arranged so that the latter performs a jump of 90 ° when n is equal to 0, so that the index passes from the "nine o'clock position. "at the" noon "position, by the shortest way.
- the first member is formed of a disc bearing the index and placed under the dial.
- the latter comprises nine cuts arranged in a circular arc substantially concentric with the disc, the first cut occupying a position corresponding to "1 hour” and the following making an angle of 30 ° relative to each other, with reference to the central point of the arc, so that the last cut is in position "9 hours", all so that the index of the first member is visible through the cuts.
- the second display member is also formed of a disk mounted pivotally on the movement and which carries three indexes arranged in an arc, and the dial comprises three cuts also arranged in an arc. and of the same radius as the arch formed by the indexes.
- the tens display member and the drive and positioning mechanism are arranged so that zero, one, two or three indexes are visible through the three cutouts, depending on whether the tens number is equal to 0, 1, 2 or 3.
- the mechanism and the display members are arranged so that, when the number of the units of the date is equal to 0 or between 2 and 8, only the disk of the units is driven, when the number of the units is equal to 9, the disks of the units and tens are both driven, when the number of the units is equal to 1 and the number of the units is tens to 0, 1 or 2, only the drive disk is driven, and when the units digit is 1 and the tens digit is 3, only the tens disk is driven.
- the watches comprise, in a conventional manner, a dial 10 and, placed at the front of this dial, needles 12 and 14 respectively displaying the hours and minutes.
- the watch is barrel-shaped. Its dial carries a 16-hour clock formed of numbers from 1 to 12, excluding 6. It is furthermore provided with a set of nine cutouts 20 intended to display the date units, and of a set of three cutouts 22 for displaying the tens of the date, respectively arranged on two concentric circles occupying the space between the center and the 6 o'clock position of the dial.
- the display of the date is done by means of an index 24, intended to indicate the value of the units digit by its position and three indexes 26, intended to display the number of tens, the latter being equal to the number of visible indexes.
- the cuts 20 define between them an angle of 30 °, the angle that the hour hand travels in one hour. In other words, if an hour hand were pivoted in the center of the concentric circles, it would be next to the first blank 20a at 1 o'clock, the second 20b at 2 o'clock, and so on.
- the index 24 appears through one of the cutouts 20 and indicates the number of the date units by its position, it is equal to 3 on the figure 1 .
- Two of the indexes 26 are visible through the first two cuts 22a and 22b, to signify that the tens digit is equal to 2. In other words, the current date is equal to 23.
- the cutouts 20 are next to the digits 1 to 9 of the hour circle 16, the cut 20f, close to the number 6, flanking the index 24.
- the units digit is therefore equal to 6.
- the cutouts 22 are arranged in the zone between 11 hours and 1 hour, two indexes 26 appearing in the cutouts 22a and 22b.
- the tens digit is therefore equal to 2.
- the displayed date is equal to 26.
- cutouts 20 and 22 are round. It is obvious that they can present other forms. So, in the case of the example of the figure 2 these cutouts could also, advantageously, have the shape of the digit corresponding to its position and, thus, replace the hour turn 16.
- the figures 3 and 4 represent a watch movement, displaying the date according to the embodiment of the figure 1 , whose components occupy their position corresponding to the 29th of the month. These figures are distinguished by masking or tearing all or part of some parts.
- the movement comprises a plate 28 on which is mounted a driving mechanism 30, and disks 32 and 34 concentric, represented in dotted line on the figure 3 and bearing respectively the index 24 and the three indexes 26, which are not shown in this figure.
- the watch movement further comprises a time base and a gear train, which are not visible in the drawing, since they are on the other side of the plate 28, with the exception of the hour wheel 36 disposed at center of the movement and intended to carry the hour hand 12.
- the mechanism 30 is connected to the hour wheel 36 by a "24 hours" wheel 38, rotating once a day and pivotally mounted on the plate 28, on a pin that is not visible in the drawing, and held axially by means of a screw 40.
- a finger 42 coaxial with the wheel 38, is made integral, in rotation, with the wheel 38, by a pin 38a driven into the plate of the wheel 38 and resting against the finger 42.

- the portion 124c is driven into the bush 34a, to rigidly attach to each other the disc 34 and the mobile 56, the assembly formed by the disc 32 and the mobile 54 being trapped therein.
- a spring 128 and a jumper 129 cooperate with the mobile 56. They are respectively fixed to the periphery of the plate by means of screws 130 and 131, the spring 128 in the vicinity of "4 hours", the jumper 129 in the vicinity of " 7 hours”.
- the star 126 carries a pin 132, disposed at the same height as the spring 128 and resting against its end 128a.
- a pin 134, driven into the plate 28 serves as a stop rake 127 when it reaches the end of the race.
- the jumper 129 is engaged in the toothing of the star 126. It is extended by a rod 129a which is in the space swept by the finger 88.
- the jumper 136 is fixed to the plate 28 by means of a screw 138 disposed in the vicinity of 6 hours.
- the mechanism 30, as just described, comprises three operating sequences, defined by the initial position of the rocker 44, bearing against the cam 72.
- the "24 hours" wheel 38 rotates freely, driving the finger 42, via the pin 38a. Meanwhile, the latch 44 is in the rest position, defined by the support of the finger 44g against the cam 72. The mechanism 30 is then stationary.
- the finger 42 comes into contact with the rocker 44, bearing in the area of duplication of the arm 44c, and more particularly on the wall of the tooth 44f.
- the rocker then pivots slowly in 44a, counterclockwise, arming the spring 66, so that it exerts a force of feedback on the finger 42.
- the disc 32 Since the disc 32 is integral in rotation with the star 118, it follows that the index 24, carried by the disc 32, passes from one cutout 20 to the other at a rate of one step per day, up to to reach the cutout 20i, located at 9 o'clock, and which indicates that the units of the date are equal to 9.
- the feedback force After the feedback force has exceeded the axis of the screw 40, it generates a torque on the finger 42 tending to move away from the pin 38a.
- the latch 44 then rotates clockwise, driven by the force exerted by the spring 66, until the finger 44g resumes contact with the cam 72. If the next day's date is different from 9, 19, 29 or 31, the finger comes to bear in the middle part of the cam 72. In this way, some 20 hours later, the same sequence is reproduced.
- the finger 44g engages in one of the lower cutouts 72a, 72b or 72c. Furthermore, the mobile unit 54 has rotated so that the drive lever 58 hooks on the connection plane 120a of both ends of the spiral spiral 120.
- the lug 44h causes, as explained above, the toothing of the star 70, while the finger 44d advances the toothing of the star 98 of a step also, and with it, the cam 100.
- the latter is arranged so that the whip 113 then protrudes from the outer end of the spiral 104 and causes the cam 100 to move suddenly, so that the finger 106 drives a tooth of the rake 127. thus advance one step and an additional index 26 is visible through the cuts of tens 22.
- the latch 44 drops and comes to bear on a middle portion of the cam 72.
- the operation corresponds to what has been described above.
- the device according to the invention can, of course, be the subject of numerous variants.
- a fast correction mechanism conventionally controlled by a time-setting rod.
- the month may be indicated by another index, advantageously less apparent than the index of the first organ, moving next to the circle of hours. In this way, this other index would be next to 1 in January, 2 in February, etc.
