Definitions
- the invention relates to a foam spray device according to the preamble of claim 1.
- Such a foam spray device is known, for example, from international patent application WO 93/12829.
- a foam spray device is described with a container containing a foamable liquid, a valve, an outlet opening for the foam formed and a sieve between the outlet opening and the valve in order to obtain the desired mixture of liquid and air.
- a perforated disk with peripherally arranged openings such as holes or slots is provided between the valve and the sieve in order to better mix the liquid-air mixture.
- An overpressure is generated in the container by means of a pump.
- a conventional spray head which can be moved towards the container against a compression spring, the inflowing air is mixed with the liquid by means of the sieve and the perforated disk to form a foam and is released at the outlet opening.
- the present foam spray device is formed from a large number of individual parts which are made from different materials such as plastics and metals. The production of such a foam spraying device is therefore relatively expensive. Another disadvantage of the present foam spraying device is that by operating the pump several times, a sufficient overpressure must first be generated in the container before foam can be formed.
- the object of the present invention is to improve a foam spraying device of the present type in such a way that it consists of considerably fewer individual parts and the foam can be generated in a simple manner. This object is achieved by a device with the features of claim 1.
- the foam spray device according to the invention for a liquid container with an air suction device, a mixing chamber for the air-liquid mixture and a spray head with a foam outlet opening has a first piston-cylinder unit for the air and a second piston-cylinder unit for the liquid between the spray head and the liquid container are each provided with an inlet valve and an outlet valve and which are operatively connected to one another.
- the foam spray device according to the invention has the great advantage that both air is compressed and liquid is expelled with one hand movement, while air and liquid are sucked back into separate chambers when the spray head expands. This means that a large amount of foam can be generated quickly and easily without the usual fuel gases.
- the cylinder of the first unit and the piston of the second unit are formed in one piece with an intermediate part and that the piston and the cylinder of the second unit are formed in one piece with a lower part, such that the intermediate part and the lower part interlock with each other.
- the pistons of the two units are each provided with a sealing ring in order to ensure optimal suction of air and liquid.
- the mixing chamber is advantageously formed by an insert part between the spray head and the intermediate part.
- the mixing chamber can have a tapered inlet opening for the air and a tapered inlet opening for the liquid.
- a fine-meshed sieve is provided in the flow direction after the air inlet opening and the liquid inlet opening. It is particularly advantageous if a foam chamber with a second fine-meshed sieve is provided after this sieve.
- the spray head, the insert part, the intermediate part and the lower part consist of a hard plastic material produced by injection molding.
- the foam spraying device is advantageously produced by injection molding a two-component plastic. It has proven to be particularly good if, at the same time, the parts serving as valves and sealing rings are enclosed from a rubber-elastic plastic material during injection molding by the respective associated parts.
- the production of the foam spraying device according to the invention is thus much simpler and therefore less expensive since only a few individual parts are required.
- Fig. 1 is a sectional view through a foam spray device
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the foam spraying device according to FIG. 1,
- FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of the foam spraying device according to FIG. 2,
- Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the foam spray device in an exploded view.
- FIG. 1 and 2 show a cross section through a foam spraying device 1 which can be screwed onto a container or bottle (not shown here).
- This device 1 essentially has four parts, namely a spray head 2, a lower part 4 provided with a screw thread 3, an intermediate part 5 and an insert part 6.
- the spray head 2 essentially has a circular cylindrical outer surface 8 with a foam outlet opening 9 Foam tube 10 on.
- the insert part 6 is formed by a circular cylindrical flow chamber 12 for the liquid, a connecting pipe 13, a mixing chamber 14 with a conically tapering inlet opening 15 for air and a tapered inlet opening 16 for liquid, and a foam chamber 17 with two circular sieves 18 and 19.
- the intermediate part 5 essentially consists of a cylindrical air chamber 20 and a circular-cylindrical piston 21 for the liquid, which are connected to one another by means of a circular plate 22 (see FIG. 4).
- the piston 21 also has a tubular attachment 23 with a smaller diameter.
- a rubber-elastic disk 24 serving as a valve is connected via a web 25 to a sealing ring 26 which is curved inwards.
- an inlet opening 28 see FIG. 5
- an outlet opening 29 are provided in the air chamber 20 and are sealed by rubber-elastic disks designed as valves — only the disk 30 of the outlet opening 29 can be seen.
- the lower part 4 has an outer ring 35 with the screw thread 3 and forms a cylindrical piston 37 for the air and a circular-cylindrical liquid chamber 38, which are connected to one another via a web 39 designed as a cut-out circular plate.
- the liquid chamber 38 is provided with a suction pipe 40 of smaller diameter, which projects into the container (bottle), not shown.
- the piston 37 is provided on the side opposite the air chamber 20 with an inwardly curved sealing ring 41 which is embedded in a seat 42.
- a valve seat 43 is provided on the intake pipe 40 on the side opposite the liquid chamber 38, in which a rubber-elastic disk 44 is let in as a valve.
- the disc 44 is connected to an L-shaped connecting piece 45 which is passed through a passage 46 between the liquid chamber 38 and the suction pipe 40.
- cylindrical air chamber 20 and the corresponding cylindrical piston 37 form a first piston-cylinder unit in order to press the air into the mixing chamber 14.
- the circular-cylindrical piston 21 and the circular-cylindrical liquid chamber 38 form a second piston-cylinder unit for the liquid.
- the rubber-elastic disks 30 and 44 and the respective inlet valve and the disks 31 and 44 serve as the outlet valve.
- a spiral spring 50 is provided, which on the one hand rests on a tubular jump 51 in the air chamber 20 and on the other hand is inserted in a pocket tube 52 of the piston 37.
- the two parts 4 and 5 are held at a certain distance from one another in the idle state (state shown in FIGS. 1 and 3).
- the spray head 2 is pressed downward against the spiral or compression spring 50.
- the air in the air chamber 28 is pressed into the mixing chamber 14 via the outlet opening 29 and the valve 31.
- the liquid in the liquid chamber 38 is also conveyed through the compression via the flow chamber 12 into the mixing chamber 14.
- the air flow thus mixes with the liquid in the mixing chamber and this air-liquid mixture is conveyed through the first sieve 18 into the foam chamber 17, where the foam formed in this way is pressed through the second sieve 19 and through the foam tube 10 out of the outlet opening 9 of the spray head flows.
- the spray head 2 is then released again, so that the intermediate part 5 and the lower part 4 are pressed apart by the spiral spring 50 and air is sucked into the air chamber 20 via the suction opening 28. At the same time, liquid is also sucked out of the bottle (not shown) via the suction pipe 40 and conveyed into the liquid chamber 38 via the valve 44.
- a certain amount of foam is formed, which depends, among other things, on the diameters of the conical inlet openings 15 and 16 into the mixing chamber 14, on the mesh size of the two screens 18 and 19 and on the size of the foam chamber 17 .
- the spray head 2, the lower part 4, the intermediate part 5 and the insert part 6 are produced from a plastic such as thermosetting plastic by an injection molding process known per se.
- a plastic such as thermosetting plastic
- negative molds are inserted in an injection mold and the plastic brought to the plasticizing temperature is injected into the injection mold under high pressure.
- the rubber-elastic parts disks 30 and 31 with connecting web 32; disk 24 with sealing ring 26 and connecting web 25; disk 44 and sealing ring 41 with L-shaped connecting web 45
- an elastomer such as LDPE or the like with injected, so that they are already attached to the associated parts in manufacturing.
- the above-mentioned foam spray device 1 can thus be produced in a particularly simple and inexpensive manner.
- the foam spray device 1 described is not restricted exclusively to the embodiment shown.
- the circular-cylindrical piston 21 can also be arranged in the axis of the intermediate part 5 instead of eccentrically, the compression spring 50 then surrounding the piston 21 and the insert part 6 being correspondingly shorter. Because only a very few parts are still required for the production of the foam spraying device 1, which can now be manufactured much more quickly in a simple manufacturing process, a material-saving and thus environmentally friendly production is made possible. The energy costs for the production of the foam spray device 1 can also be reduced enormously compared to the known methods.
