Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for winding flexible tubular conduits.
- the conducts in question are in particular the hydrocarbon transport pipes laid under water from laying ships. Such conduct are well known and can be continuous or made of assembled sections. Their rigidity is variable and here we mean by flexible pipes simply indicate that they can be rolled up without deformation plastic in large diameter coils.
- Flexible tubular lines are manufactured in great length on the ground and must be then transported to the installation site, either directly on the laying vessel when the distance between the site on land and the place of installation is not too large, usually on a transport barge intermediary who will take them to the laying ship.
- a reel is made up of a horizontal winding axis held between two cheeks, all of a medium size (for example 9x9x5 m 3 ) and a related capacity (190 tonnes), while a carousel is defined by a large central winding column tray with a vertical axis, all of a very large size (for example with a radius of 16m) and capacity (2000 tonnes). While the reels can be handled individually fairly easily, the carousels cannot.
- the loading of a pipe from the quay to the ship is done according to three solutions: either by transport of reels (solution called hereinafter reel-reel), or by transfer of the pipe from reels to quay on a carousel to on board (hereinafter reel-carousel solution), or by transfer of the pipe from a dock carousel to an on-board carousel (hereinafter carousel-carousel solution).
- coils are on the one hand that their small diameter requires pipes they are flexible enough (that they admit a relatively small minimum bending radius), and that their coiled length is not very large. If driving is in coils on board (coil-coil solution), the total length on board is average, and the cost of empty return of the coils is high, given the lost place. On the other hand, the coil-coil solution is particularly flexible when loading at dock, and loading takes place quickly and safe.
- the carousel-carousel solution allows to board pipes at a time considerably longer and possibly less flexible, but not only the loading operation is, as in the previous case, slow and inflexible, but risks of total blockage of production are not excluded in case of problems during winding.
- the the problem of the empty return is not resolved either.
- the object of the invention is to develop a new possibility of transporting pipes thanks to a better adapted winding device, which avoids the most of the disadvantages of known solutions without lose the benefits.
- a device is proposed flexible tubular pipe winding to claim 1. This allows on the one hand to considerably reduce the volume of the idle wheel and on the other hand to stack several wheels on one specific stacking pallet placed on the deck of the boat, which may or may not include a column of centering of the winding wheels.
- the palette is preferably motorized to allow the progress of the flexible under the same conditions as with a carousel classic.
- the wheel hub is self-stackable. It is as advantageous as the hub wheels be of a size allowing, close folding arms, to transport the wheel in a container of standard size. It is also advantageous to plan at least one internal winding stopper, preferably radially adjustable, and / or external is provided on the shelves.
- each department has on its length one or more joints allowing fold it back on itself, which further reduces the empty wheel volume.
- each department has two branched articulated parts liable to give when they are deployed in said radial plane a very large different winding capacity.
- Figure 1 shows a wheel or spider 1 consisting of a cylindrical hub 2, around which extends in a radial plane a plurality of arms radial or spokes 3.
- Spokes are connected to hub 2 by an articulation which will be detailed later, possibly located on a flange 4 surrounding a part of the hub 2.
- Spokes 3 are intended for supporting a flexible pipe winding (shown by reference 14 in FIG. 2); in order to lighten the structure, it is possible to predict (as shown in FIG. 1) that the radius section decreases, regularly or by degrees, as one moves away of hub 2, and that the radius section is subjected to a less effort due to the lower number of supported turns.
- a set of spiders 1 is associated with a palette 10 made up of a base 11 with motorized rotation relative to a base 12 arranged on the deck of the boat.
- Base 11 could include a centering column on which thread the hubs 2 of the stacked spiders, but preferably the hubs are self-stacking as described below.
- Base 11 has, spaced circumferentially on its periphery, bars 20 removable verticals (see also figure 5) are inserted between the arms 3 of the spiders 1.
- the bars 20 are located on a cylinder enveloping the cylinder consisting of the stack of hubs 2 and flanges 4.
- the bars 20 serve as stacking guides, and also ensure the stability of the stack at sea. In addition, when the base 11 rotates, the bars 20 can help to rotate the superimposed spiders.
- each spider 1 can have only one or several sections wound successively or superimposed 14.
- the pipes may have different diameters. So we represented on the spider upper 14 'larger diameter pipe than that of line 14; to account for her greatest minimum radius of curvature without deformation, we have planned on the spokes 3 of the upper spider place internal winding stops 16 defining the minimum winding diameter. These stops 16 can be welded to spokes 3 or be provided sliding and retractable on the shelves. Likewise, external winding stops 15 can be provided at the end of spokes 3, preferably retractable thanks to an appropriate articulation.
- Figure 3 illustrates in particular a mode of production of self-stacking hubs 2; they feature at their upper and lower parts of complementary nestable reliefs 5 and 6 and self-centering, in particular conical bearings.
- articulation 7 between the spokes 3 and the flange 4 surrounding the hub are provided with locking so that the arms deployed of the spider can remain in a radial plane.
- lifting rings 8 arranged on the flange 4 (or elsewhere as long as they do not interfere stacking several spiders) intended for handling spiders.
- the respective dimensions of the various components of a spider have not been observed in the drawings and differ according to their use on a carousel or on a specific pallet.
- the inner radius r of the hub 2 used on the carousel can be 3 m, while the radius R of a deployed arm can be 7 to 10 m for example.
- the height h available between the top of the radial plane formed by the arms 3 deployed of a spider and the superimposed spider is at least 0.65 m to allow the winding of the pipes having this diameter.
- the radius of the hub 2 it is preferable to reduce the radius of the hub 2 to 1.10 m, so that once the arms are folded, the spider can fit in a standard size container (2.2 x 2, 2 x 5.5 m 3 ), which facilitates repatriation when empty.
- Figure 4 shows another example of embodiment in which the arm 3 consists of two parts 3a, 3b hinged together by a hinge 9, allowing the radially outer part 3b of the arm to fold down along the radially part inner 3a of the arm, which is itself shown in its folded position parallel to hub axis 2.
- Stacking spiders in position folded is possible by shifting by a certain angle arms folded from one spider to the other. Alternately, it may be preferable that arms 3 do not are not folded completely parallel to the axis of the hub but in a compatible oblique orientation with stacking.
- the version shown in Figure 5 is distinguishes by the fact that the arms 3 have a first radially inner part 3a at the end of which is articulated two branched parts 3c susceptible to take two separate positions in the radial plane of winding support: a position deployed as shown in solid lines, where the parts 3c obliquely extend the radial parts 3a, and bring the winding capacity to the maximum (for example 2000 tonnes for a full pallet of five wheels), and a stowed or folded position along parts 3a, which corresponds to a capacity less winding (for example 900 tonnes for the full palette).
- the branched parts 3c allow maintain the length of the winding arcs of pipe between two support parts 3c at a value not giving rise to the appearance of an arrow detrimental to the conduct between supports.
