Definitions
- the invention relates to an oculus frame intended for mounting a glazing in an opening formed through a wall.
- the invention also extends to the oculus comprising such a chassis and to its mounting process.
- any window with glazing of peripheral shape free from sharp angles and maximum overall dimension less than 1 meter.
- the term “axial” and its derivatives are used with reference to the direction perpendicular to the general plane of opening and glazing, and the term “radial” and its derivatives are used to designate the directions perpendicular to the axial direction.
- An oculus may be at least substantially shaped circular, that is to say suitable for mounting a glazing at least substantially round in an opening at least substantially circular (porthole), or rectangular or square (with rounded corners), or other.
- the known oculus frames consist of one or several bent and / or rolled metal sections so as to define on the one hand an outer U-shaped peripheral groove in which the wall edge delimiting the opening is inserted, and on the other hand an inner peripheral groove U-shaped, usually formed with a circular bole reported, receiving the peripheral edge of the glazing. Both ends of the curved and / or rolled profile are welded to each other, or connected via a device spacer allowing radial clamping of the frame in the opening.
- oculus frames have several disadvantages. They do not allow to equip small openings dimensions and / or having small radii of curvature. It is not possible nor to make section sections of complex shapes to provide an original aesthetic appearance. They do not offer adjustment possibilities, on the site, depending on the thickness of the wall and the glazing to be mounted. They offer a relatively poor resistance, especially given the amount of material used. Oculus frames mounted in the opening by spacing The ends of the profile offer only a poor fixation relative to the wall. AT Conversely, oculus frames attached to the wall with bolts or screws penetrating into the thickness of the wall, regularly distributed on the periphery of the chassis, are long and complicated to mount.
- WO-97.26179 discloses a boat window procuring an increased thermal insulation, comprising a front flange, a rear flange and an intermediate flange, shims and insulation thermal, and screws axially tightening these elements together on each other.
- the invention aims to propose an oculus frame that can be made with very small dimensions -especially with a maximum diameter 100 mm and 1000 mm-, which can present original aesthetic forms, and whose assembly relative to the wall is extremely simple and of great solidity.
- the invention aims to propose a chassis oculus that can easily be adapted to any thickness of wall and glazing, on site.
- the invention also aims to propose an oculus frame of low cost price.
- the invention relates to an oculus frame according to claim 1.
- the means of axial clamping of the rear flange are means for axial clamping of the flange back and the intermediate flange on top of each other.
- continuous endless frame is meant a frame extending continuously, closed on itself without junction or welding.
- a glazing refers to generally, a device comprising at least one window.
- a glazing may consist of a single pane or, conversely, a plurality of panes (multiple glazing).
- the glazing is preferably fixed type, the internal surfaces support of the front flange and intermediate flange coming directly to contact of the peripheral edge of a window or a side of a connecting profile multiple glazing.
- nothing prevents the glazing from being opening type ie incorporates itself a frame and a mechanism opening / closing the window (s) relative to this frame.
- the oculus frame according to the invention can present all shapes and sizes, including complex shapes, is extremely robust and its mounting is simple and provides a rigid attachment to the wall. he easily adapts to all thicknesses and all kinds of walls and can receive a wide variety of glazing.
- a chassis according to the invention includes crowns made of steel resistant to very high temperatures assembled to each other and adapted to extend on each side of the wall and on each side of the peripheral edge of the glazing, so as to maintain the glazing in place in the opening in case of failure or disappearance of flanges.
- the invention also extends to an oculus characterized in that it comprises a frame according to the invention.
- this oculus has a maximum overall diameter of between 100 mm and 1000 mm.
- the oculus according to the invention also comprises a glazing unit single or multiple, fixed or opening.
- the oculus frame shown in the figures comprises three mounting flanges 1, 2, 3.
- Each mounting flange consists of a only rigid cast metal casting, for example in aluminum, shaped endless continuous frame adapted to the shape of an opening and a glazing 4 mounted in this opening through the frame.
- the opening to be equipped, the glazing 4, and each of the mounting flanges 1, 2, 3 have a generally circular shape.
- the glazing 4 shown is a single fixed glass, but can be formed as well shown, of a multiple glazing, and / or incorporate opening means by compared to a frame, that is to say be formed of an opening glazing.
- the frame is intended to equip the opening provided in a wall 5 having a front side 6 (generally located outside a building or a closed part by the wall 5) and a rear side 7 (in general the side inside a building or a room closed by the wall 5).
- the opening is delimited by a song 11 of wall 5 which presents, from this song 11, a border 9 on the front side and a border 18 on the back side.
- the chassis includes a flange before mounting 1 comprising an outer peripheral ring 8 adapted to extend radially beyond the opening, facing the edge 9 of the wall 5 which delimits the opening of the front side.
- the outer peripheral ring 8 of the front flange 1 thus defines an outer bearing surface 10 in the form of a crown extending in a radial plane.
- the external bearing surface 10 is oriented towards the rear and adapted to extend radially on the front side 6 of the wall 5.
- the flange before 1 defines an internal worn 12 facing backwards and adapted to extend radially on the side before 13 of the peripheral edge 14 of the glazing 4.
- This internal bearing surface 12 is in the general shape of a crown, extends in a radial plane, and comprises a groove 15 for receiving an O-ring 16, hollowed out in the axial direction forward in this internal bearing surface 12.
- the internal bearing surface 12 and the external bearing surface 10 of the front flange 1 are offset axially from one another by a distance corresponding to the withdrawal that is desired to give the glazing 4 compared to the side before 6 of the wall 5.
- the chassis also includes a rear flange 2 of mounting which includes an outer peripheral ring 17 extending radially beyond the opening and facing the peripheral edge 18 of the rear side 7 of the wall 5 by defining an outer bearing surface 19 in form crown extending in a radial plane.
- the outer bearing surface 19 is forward and adapted to extend radially on the back side 7 of the wall 5.
- the outer bearing surface 19 of the rear flange 2 and the outer bearing 10 of the front flange 1 are at least substantially the same dimensions radial, and are adapted to define between them a U-shaped groove for receiving the border 9, 18 of the wall 5 defining the opening.
- the frame according to the invention also comprises a flange intermediate fitting 3 which defines an internal bearing surface 21 oriented towards the front and adapted to extend radially on the rear side 22 of the border 14 of the glazing device 4.
- This internal bearing surface 21 is also in form of crown, extends in a radial plane, and has a groove 24 of receiving an O-ring 25, recessed in the direction axial backward in this internal bearing surface 21.
- the intermediate flange 3 has a bulk less than or equal to that of the opening, this intermediate flange 3 being pass and move axially in the opening. So the outer diameter off all of the intermediate flange 3 is slightly smaller than the diameter of the opening of the wall 5.
- the intermediate flange 3 is assembled with the flange before 1 with four bolts 26 evenly distributed angularly and through holes 27, 28 facing arranged 27 through the flange before 1, and 28 through the intermediate flange 3.

- the frame according to the invention makes it possible to mount an oculus in an opening formed through a wall 5 in an extremely simple manner.
- the glazing 4 is clamped axially between the flange before 1 and the intermediate flange 3 thanks to the bolts 26, after having inserted sealing O-rings 16, 25 into the grooves 15, 24 corresponding.
- This assembly is then placed in the opening by inserting the glazing 4 and the intermediate flange 3 in the opening of the front side of the wall 5 until the outer support surface 10 of the front flange 1 comes into contact of the edge 9 of the front side of the wall 5.
- a cylindrical wedge 36 is first chosen of appropriate thickness that is placed in the recesses 31, 33.
- a wedge cylindrical 36 is for example formed of a rigid plastic material.
- cylindrical shim 36 is replaced by two peripheral rings 47, 48 in steel resistant to very high temperatures - especially fire - a front crown 47 and a rear crown 48.
- the front crown 47 extends radially between the outer bearing surface 10 of the front flange 1 and the front side 6 of the wall 5 and then back along a portion of the edge 11 of the wall 5 delimiting the opening, then radially between the front flange 1 and the flange intermediate 3, then radially between the internal bearing surface 12 of the flange before 1 and the front side 13 of the peripheral edge 14 of the glazing 4.
- the rear ring 48 extends radially between the outer bearing surface 19 of the flange 2 and the rear side 7 of the wall 5, then forward along a part of the song 11 of the wall 5 delimiting the opening until joining the front ring 47, then radially in contact with the front ring 46 between the flange before 1 and the intermediate flange 3, then backwards along the edge external device 37 of the glazing 4, then again radially between the range internal support 21 of the intermediate flange 3 and the rear side 22 of the edge peripheral 14 of the glazing 4.
- the bolts 26 for axial clamping of the flange intermediate 3 and the flange before 1 pass through lights in the crowns 47, 48 for this purpose.
- the rings 47, 48 are assembled and tightened one on the other thanks to bolts 50 crossing lights facing both 47, 48.
- the bolts 50 are arranged between the front flange 1 and the intermediate flange 3 in which recesses are hollowed out for the passage of these bolts 50.
- the bolts 50 for tightening the crowns 47, 48 are angularly distributed and angularly offset (FIG. 7) with respect to positions of the bolts 26 for axial clamping of the front flange 1 and the flange intermediate 3, and preferably also with respect to the positions of the bolts 38 of axial clamping of the rear flange 2 and the intermediate flange 3.
- the bolts 50 tighten the crowns 47, 48 in their part extending between the singing external device 37 of the glazing 4 and the edge 11 of the wall 5 delimiting the opening.
- the crowns 47, 48 thus constitute a safety in case of fire preventing any call for air through the opening.
- the crowns 47, 48 may be shaped (deformed during assembly and / or embossed) to pass between the bosses 45, 46 of angular registration between the flange 1, 3 if these are provided. Nevertheless, such bosses can be omitted since the crowns 47, 48 facilitate the angular positioning of the flanges 1, 2.
- the chassis For mounting the chassis according to this variant of the invention, it is first put in place the glazing 4 in the opening by pinching between the two crowns 47, 48 that are tightened with the bolts 50. then the front flange 1 and the intermediate flange 3 by tightening them thanks to bolts 26. Then we go up and tighten through the bolts 38 the rear flange 2 on the intermediate flange 3.
- the recesses 31, 33 flanges 1, 3 are retained to the extent that the variant of Figures 7 to 9 can be considered as a reinforced fire protection option by compared to Figures 1 to 6. It is not necessary to conceive of flanges 1, 2, 3 different and different molds for each of the variants.
- the frame according to the invention is thus compatible with incorporation of fire protection crowns 47, 48, and can be reported on such crowns 47, 48 easily.
