Abstract

The box has a box part (10) and a lid (11). The box part has a collar (23) and can receive a cigarette block (27). The box part and lid are connected to each other at the back of the box by a hinge (58) running at an angle. The front wall (24) of the collar has an angled, trapezoid cutout (28), forming an angled edge (31) to the collar. The upper edge (36) of the box runs at the same angle. The hinge runs in the same direction as the collar edge, but at a shallower angle. The front wall (17) of the lid is also trapezoid.

Description

The invention relates to a folding box with a box part and a lid hingedly connected to a box rear wall and with a collar fastened in the box part and partially protruding therefrom with a collar front wall and collar side tabs, in particular for receiving a cigarette group surrounded by an inner wrapper - Cigarette block -, the collar front wall having an upwardly open recess in the area above a box front wall. Furthermore, the invention relates to a blank for the manufacture of such a hinged box.

Hinged lid packs - also known as hinge-lid packs - are among the most common types of packaging for cigarettes. The structure of the complete packaging usually looks such that a cigarette group filling the contents of the folding box is surrounded by an inner wrapping made of paper, foil or tinfoil and forms a cigarette block. This sits in the folding box made of thin cardboard or other similar packaging material. This in turn is surrounded by an outer covering made of thin film. The latter will be removed in whole or in part when the packaging is put into use.

In the standard, conventional structure of a hinged box, a lid is pivotally connected to the box rear wall via a transverse hinge joint. The collar usually consists of a separate cut. The inside of the collar front wall is connected to the box front wall, in particular by gluing. Collar side tabs lie on the inside of box side walls. An upper region of the collar protruding from the box part is enclosed by the lid in the closed position of the hinged box.

The invention is based on the problem of facilitating its handling by redesigning the hinged box.

To solve this problem, the hinged box according to the invention is characterized in that a collar edge which borders the recess and is adjacent to the front wall of the box runs obliquely such that the recess in the front wall of the collar has a greater height on one side than on the opposite side, and that an extension of the collar front wall opposite the recess also runs obliquely, such that the recess and the extension have corresponding geometrical dimensions.

According to this feature of the invention, the usual recess in the collar front wall has an asymmetrical, namely essentially trapezoidal shape. This makes it easier, above all, to remove the cigarettes from the hinged box in the region of the greater height or the larger dimension of the recess.

A special feature of the invention is that the hinge joint for connecting the lid to the box part is also directed obliquely, that is, at an angle to upright edges of the pack. The direction of inclination of the hinge joint preferably corresponds to that of the collar edge and / or the box edge. However, the angle of inclination of the hinge joint is expediently slightly smaller than that of the collar edge and / or the box edge.

The blanks for the production of such a hinged box, namely a one-piece package blank on the one hand and a separate collar blank on the other hand, are also designed in a special way.

The shown examples of folding boxes consist in the basic structure of a (lower) box part 10 and a (upper) lid 11. These parts of the folding box consist of a common, one-piece blank (FIGS. 3, 5 and 10). The box part 10 forms a box front wall 12, an adjoining bottom wall 13 and opposite the box front wall 12 a box rear wall 14. On the sides, the box part 10 is delimited by narrow, upright box side walls 15 and 16.

The lid 11 is formed in an analogous manner, namely with the lid front wall 17, lid top wall 18, lid rear wall 19 and lid side walls 20, 21. Box part 10 and lid 11 are in the region of the respective rear walls 14 and 19 via a cross-directional Hinge joint 22 is pivotally connected to one another. This is designed as a fold line in the one-piece blanks.

A collar 23 is positioned inside the hinged box. This is formed by a separate blank (Fig. 7). The collar 23 consists of a collar front wall 24 and collar side tabs 25, 26. The collar front wall 24 lies with a lower partial area on the inside of the box front wall 12 and is connected to it, for example by gluing. The collar side tabs 25, 26 abut the inside of the box side walls 15, 16. An upper section of the collar 23 protrudes from the box part 10. The cover 11 encompasses this area of the collar 23 in the closed position. In the present embodiment, the dimensions are chosen so that the collar 23 extends approximately to below the top wall 18 of the lid.

A cuboid-shaped cigarette block 27 is seated within the folding box formed in this way. It is a group of cigarettes which is surrounded by an inner wrapping made of paper or tin foil. The cigarette block 27 is approximately flush with the collar 23 at the top.

The collar 23 is usually designed such that an upwardly open recess 28 is formed in the region of the collar front wall 24. This recess 28 is intended for the removal of the cigarettes lighten out of the hinged box or the box part 10. When the packaging is put into use, a flap 29 in the region of the front is first separated from the inner wrapping (FIG. 6) of the cigarette block 27 for this purpose. The flap 29 is formed by transverse perforations 30 as a front part of the inner envelope (FIG. 6). By pulling off the flap 29, the cigarettes are exposed in this area.

A special feature of the present folding boxes is the design of the recess 28. The recess 28 is formed asymmetrically, namely delimited by an obliquely running lower collar edge 31. This extends at an angle to the upright packing edges 32, 33. In the present case, the collar edge 31 has a straight line, which results in an approximately trapezoidal shape of the recess 28. This has on one side, in the present examples on the left front side, a greater height so that a longer section of the cigarettes is exposed. This makes it easier to remove the cigarettes. The recess 28 does not extend over the full width of the collar front wall 24. Rather, lateral, upright webs 34, 35 remain in the region of the collar front wall 24. As a result of the design of the recess 28, these have different heights.

Another - independent - special feature of the folding box is that the box part 10 is matched to the design of the recess 28. An upper boundary of the box front wall 12, namely a transverse box edge 36, is also directed obliquely, namely at an angle to the packing edges 32, 33. The course of the box edge 36 is selected here so that it is parallel to the collar edge 31. This also gives the box front wall 12 a trapezoidal shape.

From this package design it follows that the box side walls 15, 16 have different heights. The box side wall 16 facing the longer or higher packing edge 32 has a greater height than the opposite box side wall 15. This in turn means that the collar 23 in the area of the box side wall 15 has a larger area of the collar side tab 25 and the adjoining collar front wall 24 protrudes from the box part 10 than the opposite collar side tab 26.

The cut for the collar 23 is shown in an advantageous embodiment in FIG. 7. An approach 55 formed on the opposite or lower side corresponds to the approximately trapezoidal recess 28 in the collar front wall 24. This extension has the same geometric shape as the recess 28 continuous web of material are separated. The collar side tabs 25, 26 are delimited from the collar front wall 24 by perforation lines 56, 57.

The collar 23 has, in the area of the perforation lines 56, 57, closing aids for the cover 11, so-called collar brakes 59, 60. The collar brakes 59, 60 are of different lengths. The length of the collar brakes 59, 60 is adapted to the asymmetrical configuration of the recess 28 or the collar front wall 24. On the side of the folding box on which a longer section of the cigarettes is exposed due to the asymmetrical configuration of the recess 28, the collar brake 59 is of greater length than on the opposite side of the folding box. This is due to the fact that in this area the web 34 of the collar front wall 24 protrudes from the box part 11 with a larger section than the web 35 on the opposite side. In this respect, it is ensured that the lid 11 is secured against unintentional opening.

Another special feature of the hinged box is the design of the inner wrapping of the cigarette block 27 according to FIG. 7. The perforation line 30 for delimiting the flap 29 is also directed obliquely. The course of the perforation line 30 is adapted to the course of the collar edge 31. Perforation line 30 and collar edge 31 preferably run parallel to one another.

The blank (Fig. 3) for such a folding box has deviations from a standard folding box. The blank has an overall elongated shape. The walls of the box part 10 and the lid 11 are formed in succession as in a blank for a conventional hinged box. One end of the blank is formed by the box edge 36, which is directed obliquely here, that is, at an angle to fold lines for the formation of the packaging edges 32, 33. In the present example, the box edge 36 continues in the region of (external) side tabs 37 as the outer layer of the double-layer side wall 16. The side tab 37 is delimited here by an upper, oblique tab edge 38. On the opposite side of the box front wall 12 there is a side tab 39 which forms the outer layer on the box side wall 15. This side tab is delimited by a tab edge 40 which is directed at an obtuse angle to the box edge 36. The side tabs 37 on the one hand and 39 on the other hand are therefore designed differently in terms of geometry.

This corresponds to inner side flaps 41, 42 which, together with the side flaps 37 on the one hand and 39 on the other hand, form the box side walls 16 and 15. The side flaps 41, 42 mentioned are, as usual, connected to the back wall 14 of the box and delimited from the flaps of the lid 11 by a punched line 43 and 44, respectively. These are arranged at different angular positions such that the side tab 41 forms an edge that runs parallel to the tab edge 38. Analogously, the punching line 44 is arranged such that an upper edge of the side tab 42 is formed parallel to the tab edge 40.

The cutting areas for the cover 11 are designed correspondingly. The lid side wall 20 is formed by two trapezoidal lid side tabs 45 and 46. The outer cover side tab 46 is provided with a side edge 47 arranged at a very acute angle. An edge of the inner lid side tab 45 defined by the punching line 44 matches this.

The opposite cover side wall 21 consists of smaller cover side flaps 48 and 49. The outer cover side flap 49 is delimited by a side edge 50, which here extends an obliquely directed cover edge 51. The side edge 50 runs parallel to a corresponding edge of the inner cover side tab 48 in the region of the punching line 43.

Another special feature is the positioning and design of an inner lid flap 52 (FIG. 3). This connects in one piece to the lid front wall 17 and, in the finished hinged box, is folded inwards against the inside of the lid front wall 17. The lid edge 51 is thereby formed in two layers.

The inner lid flap 52 is designed as an oblique-angled parallelogram. Side edges 53, 54 of the lid inner tab are directed at an acute or obtuse angle to the lid edge 51. Due to this inclined position of the inner lid flap, a position as shown for example in FIG. 2 results, in which the side edges 53, 54 run parallel to the upright packaging edges 32, 33.

The folding box according to FIGS. 4 and 5 has a structure corresponding to the folding box according to FIGS. 2 and 3. It differs from this, however, in the design of an inner lid flap 61. The inner lid flap 61 (FIG. 5) connects in one piece to the front wall 17 of the lid. When the folding box has been folded, the inner lid flap is folded inwards against the inner side of the front wall 17 of the lid. As a result, the cover edge 51 is formed in two layers.

The lid inner tab 61 is formed as a right-angled triangle. Side edges 62, 63 of the lid inner tab 61 accordingly form an angle of approximately 90 °. 5, the side edge 62 of the inner lid flap 61 runs approximately parallel to the folded edges of the blank forming the packing edges 32, 33. The side edge 63 of the inner lid tab 61 extends at right angles thereto, that is to say approximately parallel to a folding edge of the hinge joint 22 Cutting. In the finished hinged box and when the inner lid flap 61 is folded inwards, the side edges 62, 63 therefore run obliquely to the packaging edges 32, 33 according to FIG. 4.

The folding box in the embodiment according to FIGS. 8 to 10 is to be regarded as particularly advantageous. While in the exemplary embodiments described so far the linear hinge joint 22 runs in a conventional manner parallel to the transverse edges of the hinged box, in the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 8 to 10 an inclined hinge joint 58 is provided. The inclination of this hinge joint 58 corresponds to that of the box edge 36, that is to say it drops from right to left in the present exemplary embodiment. However, the angle of inclination of the hinge joint 58 is somewhat smaller than that of the box edge 36. A hinged box designed in this way is particularly easy to open, specifically with one hand, the lid 11 being pushed by the thumb in the area of the lid front wall 17 on the side of the greater height of the Lid 11 can be operated.

The hinge joint 58 also extends in this exemplary embodiment between the mutually facing ends of the punching lines 43, 44. The punching line 44 is in this case set lower, that is to say at a smaller distance from the bottom wall 13. The punching line 44 here has a lower inclination than in the exemplary embodiments of FIG 3 and 5 refer to the packing edges 32, 33. Corresponding geometrical changes in the size and the angular position of oblique edges also result for the design of the associated side tabs 39 and 42 and lid side tabs 45 and 46. With this arrangement of the hinge joint 58, the lid rear wall also has a trapezoidal shape. Otherwise, the design of this hinged box corresponds to that according to FIGS. 1 to 7.

In the closed position, the box edge 36 and lid edge 51 lie against each other as well as in the area of the box side walls 15, 16 and lid side walls 20, 21 the tab edges 38, 40 with the side edges 47, 50. In all embodiments, the collar 23 is dimensioned in this way and within the Box part 10 arranged so that the collar edge 31 is above the box edge 36.

The design of a lid 11 with an obliquely directed hinge joint 58 can also be used independently of the design and arrangement of the collar 23 or the box front wall 12.
