- the invention relates to a holding and contact element which can be inserted into force, or termination of seamless electrical contact, including connection of a connection element on a printed circuit.
- Solderless electrical contact terminations are known from documents US 3,634,819 and EP 0 141,492.
- a flat spindle also includes spring arms arched outwards transversely to the axial direction of the contact.
- a holding device complementary to the connector on the printed circuit is generally made either by devices provided with arms by harpoon devices for which the holding element consists of a spring clip provided with external projections or teeth, coming to seize in the internal wall of a metallized hole of the circuit printed.
- a harpoon attachment of this type is known from document US 5,154,634.
- the use of such a fastener as a ground contact is frequent but the connection made is through the teeth planted in the metallized layer of the hole which thus forms point contact zones which, on the one hand, are not not favorable for an effective mass continuity and which, on the other hand, risk to deteriorate over time.
- This holding device is in any case not suitable for the production of power contacts.
- the present invention proposes to produce a force insertable element offering a large retention surface allowing, on the one hand, a maintenance robust connector and, on the other hand, a reliable connection over time suitable for make a power contact or a ground contact.

- This spindle comprises a tubular upper part 10, a part central flange 11 and a barrel-shaped lower part comprising two branches 2,3 separated by a slot 16 and connected by a terminal beam 8.
- the collar has a lower face 9 to which the branches 2 and 3, this surface 9 thus forming a base for branches 2 and 3.
- the collar has sections 13 whereas in FIG. 1-A, the collar 11 is followed towards the upper part of an indented area 12 the function of sections 13 and the indented area will be explained in relation to the Figures 4 and 5.
- the element 1 is seen from the side and in half section along a vertical plane passing through its longitudinal axis.
- the tubular spindle 1 is provided with a bore 14 opening into the upper part of the spindle, and that a slot 16 separates the branches 2 and 3.
- the branches 2 and 3 each have an outer surface 5 and an inner surface 6, the branches have a massive section such that their elasticity is reduced to a minimum.
- the external surface 5 of at least one of the pins has a transverse profile in an arc of a circle of variable radius as a function of the longitudinal position of the section considered, this variable radius thus defining for the branch considered a lower guide zone to the insertion into a hole 31 of a printed circuit 30, an enlarged cross-sectional area of interference with the wall of the hole 31 and an upper reduced cross-sectional area of connection of the branch with the base 9.
- the branches are connected, at their insertion end, by a rigid connection beam (8).
- Figures 3-A and 3-B show the interference of the section of the branches in a metallized hole 31 of a printed circuit, metallized hole connected in a manner known per se to a metallized track of said printed circuit, respectively, in Figure 3 -A in the case of a hole of minimum diameter and a maximum offset of the axis of the hole with the axis of the spindle and, in Figure 3-B in the case of a hole of maximum diameter.
- the diameter of a metallized hole for fixing a connector commonly 3 mm, can, depending on manufacturing tolerances, increase to 3.20 mm.
- the metallization layer typically comprising a layer of 25 microns of copper covered with 5 microns of tin-lead.
- the tolerated offset between the axes of the hole and of the holding element is 0.12 mm.
- the holding element corresponding to this drilling will have branches whose enlarged cross-sectional area (seen in figure 2-B) will define a diameter of 3.25 mm and whose massive constitution will allow interference with metallized walls at least 0.05 mm, for the maximum diameter hole, up to an interference of 0.27 mm, for the minimum diameter hole with maximum offset.
- the combined crushing of the barrel of the retaining element and the walls of the hole prevents the plating of the metallization layer.
