Definitions
- the present invention relates to sets of connecting the lines of a transmission cable low current signals, such as cable lines telephone. It relates more particularly to a module protection with fault signaling, for lines of a cable, and on a connection set protection provided by these modules.
- protection modules used in a set of connection or cable head can be plugged into cells provided for this purpose throughout connection. They then provide electrical continuity between cable lines and individual jumpers, which are both connected to contacts in the connection set, and protection against overvoltage faults on these lines.
- each line is carried out conventionally by a three-pole surge arrester or two bipolar surge arresters gas, mounted in the module and responsible for draining to earth transient and relatively small faults on one and / or the other of the two wires in the line.
- Each arrester is associated in the module with a short-circuit means ensuring the final grounding of the line during a relatively long and / or significant fault thereon. This short circuit means is sensitive to the generated temperature by the internal discharge arc of the arrester.
- the document EP-A-0 647 005 describes a module for protection of the aforementioned type, with two bipolar surge arresters, in which short circuit means associated with each surge arrester is a directly insulating insulating pad sensitive to the temperature generated by the arrester.
- This the module advantageously further comprises two varistors to positive temperature coefficient, providing protection additional serial type between each wire of the line and one of the wires from the garter connected to the line.
- he also includes two fault signaling lamps, particular two mini neon lamps, which are directly supplied by the line and have a threshold voltage ignition, between the nominal line voltage and the ignition voltage of each arrester.
- the document US-A-4,862 31 also describes a module protection of the aforementioned type, with two surge arresters bipolar, in which the means of short circuit is a conductive fuse pad, which is associated in common with two surge arresters and melts with the temperature generated by either, during a major fault on the line, to ground the line.
- This protection module further includes a light emitting diode fault signaling, when the line is earthed.
- This diode is mounted in an internal alarm circuit at module. It is powered by a voltage source outside the module. It is also linked to the ground through a controlled switch of this circuit alarm, which is normally open and is activated by closing in the event of a fault causing the line to be the mass. It lights up accordingly in the event of such a fault. and after his disappearance.
- This signaling protection module memorizing the default is very complex realization.
- the object of the present invention is to produce a module protection and fault memory signaling, whose overall design is very simplified and leads to a module of small dimensions, of production cost reduced and very reliable operation.
- the invention also relates to a set of connection ensuring the connection of cable lines and garters and with protection modules identical and such as the module above for continuity electrical lines and garters and protection individual lines, characterized in that it comprises in addition a general fault signaling device on at least one of said lines, mounted on said assembly connection and connected on the one hand to said source power supply and on the other hand in common to power contacts provided on the various modules protection.
- the module according to Figures 1 to 3 is a module plugs into a cable head of the type shown in Figure 5. It is described below under conditions for which Figure 1 is the view of below the module.
- the plug-in conditions which are defined by the cable head, can be different depending on the cable head and be such that the figure 1 either one of the side views or the top view of the module for its insertion.
- the module includes an insulating support case 1, of the plug-in drawer type.
- This case has two side walls indented 2 and has a lower face, a face upper, a rear face and a front face which are completely or very widely open. It has a front grip handle 3, which is relatively narrow and centered on the front face, being at the start of this front face, wider and integral with the ends of the two side walls.
- This module also includes two surge arresters bipolar 8 line fault protection connected to the input contacts. These surge arresters are mounted side by side in the substantially middle part of the housing and each have their two terminals connected to one of the contacts input 6 and one of the ground contacts 5. Each arrester thus ensures through it the flow to the mass of current due to transient overvoltages and relatively low on the affected line wire.
- Each arrester is associated with an element 10 of short circuit of this arrester, during high overvoltages on the line concerned thread, for the final setting at mass of this wire and so the direct and permanent flow to the mass of the current due to such overvoltages.
- These two elements 10 associated with these two surge arresters are mounted in the substantially middle part of the upper face of the housing. Each of them is interposed between the parts corresponding terminals of one of the input contacts 6 and from one of the earth contacts 5, these terminal parts of these contacts being substantially superimposed at this level and being elastically biased against the element 10 sandwiched between them.
- This module advantageously further comprises two varistors 12, with a positive temperature coefficient, for additional line protection.
- These two varistors 12 are mounted side-by-side in the middle part of the housing. Each of them is connected in series between one of the input contacts 6 and one of the output contacts 7, that is to say in series with one of the wires of the line connected to the one of the jumper wires when the module is plugged into the cable head.
- the input contacts and the output contacts are in elastic pressure against each other and connected without these varistors in series with each other.
- the module also includes a lamp 15 of fault signaling which memorizes the fault which caused the earthing of one and / or the other of the wires in the line.
- This lamp is a diode electroluminescent. It is carried by a card printed circuit 16 mounted in the front part of the case and is protruding or at least visible on the front of the housing. This light emitting diode is connected in series with a resistor 17 on the printed circuit board.
- the diode 15 and the resistor in series 17 are connected with a share with a so-called supply contact 18, connecting to a supply voltage, typically negative, in the head of cable, and on the other hand to either of the two elements 10, to be thus connected to one and the other of ground contacts when the line is grounded.
- the power contact is advantageously a flat and elastic contact, overall U-shaped.
- the branch center of this contact is retained transversely in a middle edge 3A, which extends the grip 3 on the front of the underside of the case and at which corresponds to a notch 16A provided in the card printed circuit board 16.
- It is likewise retained on the printed circuit board and has two tabs 18A, which are cut and folded on this central branch and are received against the printed circuit board.
- These tabs 18A have a tab 18B, which is parallel to the central branch of the contact and is received through the card and is welded to him.
- the two legs 18B are connected one to each other and to light emitting diode 15 on the printed circuit board.
- a plastic stud 19 ensures the retention of each of the tabs 18A on the circuit board printed.
- the two lateral branches of the power contact 18 extend laterally on the front part of the case, whose side walls 2 are notched for this purpose. One of them is used for voltage connection and the other to keep the module centered plugged into the cable head.
- Printed tracks illustrated in dotted lines and not referenced ensure the connections of the elements carried by the card 16,
- the two elements 10 for short-circuiting the surge arresters and controlled diode connection electroluminescent to ground contacts 5 are formed, in this embodiment, each by an electrical conductor single strand 20, which is coated with an insulating sheath 21 on a much of its length.
- Each insulated conductor 10 is directly mounted and clamped under pressure between earth contact 5 and contact input 6 connected to one of the surge arresters, being at proximity to this arrester. Its insulating sheath 21 defines thus an insulation between its internal conductor 20 and this input contact and similarly insulation between this internal conductor and earth contact. Each driver isolated is also stripped over a short length and thus soldered to the printed circuit board 16. Both internal conductors 20 of the two insulated wires 10 are connected to each other on the printed circuit board.
- each of the two isolated wires 10 has its two ends stripped and soldered together on the card circuit board and is folded in half on itself and so received between the terminal parts of the input contact and the earth contact concerned, for maintenance and very stable and very reliable positioning between these contacts.
- each of these isolated wires 10 isolates input contact 6 and earth contact 5 one of the other and also isolates the light-emitting diode 15 earth contact 5 and input contact 6. This diode then remains off.
- the heat generated by one and / or the other surge arresters and transmitted to the corresponding insulated wire by conduction of the input contact (s), melts insulation 21 which until then separated the conductive wire internal 20 of input contact as of ground contact corresponding, ensuring the connection of these two contacts then directly under pressure on the conductive wire 20 between them.
- the line is thus earthed and the diode light-emitting 15 on. This LED stays on for the duration of the fault and after its disappearance, until removal of the module from the cable head, for its replacement.
- FIG 4 shows the printed circuit board 16 equipped as before except for the two aforementioned items 10 related to it and which define, in this variant, an element unique and designated by the reference 10 '.
- This 10 'element is consisting of a conductive plate 20 'coated on both of its two faces with an insulating layer 21 ', such as an insulating varnish, as well as visible more clearly by the partial cutaway illustrated.
- insulating layer 21 ' such as an insulating varnish
- the edge opposite the edge of fixing the element 10 'to the printed circuit board is indented in the middle and has two isolated legs 22 on their two faces, which are received and clamped like the two aforementioned insulated conductors between the input contacts and the protective module ground contacts.
- connection sub-assembly shown in section partial and partially equipped in Figure 5 is one identical subsets with each other and stacked with connection set or cable head. It is defined in an insulating body 30 and designated under this same reference. It presents a series of cells parallelepipedic, aligned and identical 31, receiving each from the front one of the protection modules, such as the only one represented and designated under the reference 1 of its housing. It is equipped with a rear mass collector 34, which defines two teeth or two ground contacts 35 on the rear part of a first wall of each cell.
- each cell is also equipped, in each cell, with two line 36, which extend opposite the contacts 35 on the rear part of a second wall opposite the first wall, receive the two line wires and connect to the input contacts 6 of the plugged-in protection module, and two jumper contacts 37, which are aligned with the line contacts and extend across the front of the second wall, which receive the two wires from the garter and are connected to the two output contacts 7 of the module protection.
- It is also equipped with a flat blade supply 38, which extends along the series cells in their front part on a third wall of each cell and receives the supply contact 18 provided on protection module 1.
- connection assembly to which belongs the sub-assembly 30 carries a device 40 of general fault indication.
- This device 40 is mounted on one of the faces of the connection assembly and includes a lamp 41 for general fault indication on one or more of the lines serving all of connection, this lamp being visible on the front of the connection assembly.
- This device 40 is shown retained between one of the pairs of legs 33, which are traditionally provided from on either side of the row of cells on each sub-assembly 30 and one of whose legs serves as label holders.
- This device 40 is produced on a non-support shown. It includes the lamp 41, constituted by a diode general signal light emitting which is mounted in parallel on a zener 42 stabilization diode voltage across its terminals. The zener diode is in series with an associated resistance 43, to constitute a branch resulting from the circuit. This branch is connected in parallel on a resistor 44 of the diode supply circuit 15 of the different protection modules, the resistance 44 being on the one hand connected in 45 to the source negative supply and on the other hand linked in common to different feed blades 38 extending in the cells of the different subsets of the set of connection.
- Closing the diode supply circuit 15 of one or more light modules protection gives rise to the passage of a current in the resistor 44.
- the resulting voltage across the mounting terminals series of zener diode 42 and resistor 43 is variable depending on the number of individual diodes 15 of different protection modules, which are on. She is stabilized across the zener diode 41 and causes the lighting of the general signaling diode 41, which let it be the non-zero number of lit diodes 15.
