Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for sterilizing the filling of preferably liquid foods into packaging containers with a preheating zone, a sterilization zone, a drying zone, a filling zone and a sealing zone.
- H 2 O 2 ie hydrogen peroxide
- An optimal effect is achieved if the packs to be filled are heated in a first zone (preheating zone) in order to be able to carry out the post-treatment as quickly and efficiently as possible.
- the continuously moving packs are transported from the preheating zone to the downstream disinfection zone, where wetting with the disinfectant, preferably H 2 O 2 , takes place.
- the liquid H 2 O 2 becomes this atomized to a H 2 O 2 aerosol using hot compressed air or superheated steam, so that no larger and heavier droplets can deposit on the surface of the package which could not be removed during the subsequent rinsing process.
- the short-term wetting with the H 2 O 2 aerosol under a hot atmosphere is sufficient to reliably kill existing germs.
- the packs pass through a further zone, the so-called drying zone. In this zone, the packs are flushed with flowing superheated steam at atmospheric pressure. The packs are then actually filled in a filling zone using likewise known means.
- each individual zone must first be flushed with such an amount of H 2 O 2 aerosol in order to reliably disinfect or remove the (contaminated) air present.
- H 2 O 2 aerosol for this purpose, it was previously necessary to rinse the individual chambers of the different zones with H 2 O 2 steam in a certain period of time in order to achieve the desired sterilization. This required a great deal of design effort and a correspondingly high consumption of H 2 O 2 , since the individual chambers can always be inadequately sealed in the transport direction of the packs.
- the invention is therefore based on the object of designing and developing the sterilization device mentioned above and described in more detail in such a way that the period of exposure to the individual zones with the disinfectant can be shortened and the amount of the disinfectant to be used can be minimized.
- a structurally simple structure is desirable in order to minimize the effort required for cleaning and maintenance.
- the device according to the invention not only reduces the size of the filling machine used, but also the volume of the necessary sterile room, since there is no longer any division into individual chambers, but rather the individual zones are arranged within a single sterile room. It has been shown that the isolation of individual chambers for the different treatment processes from one another is not necessary if the guidance of the disinfectant is chosen accordingly to set the desired atmosphere. By using a single hood, an optimal tightness of the sterile space of a filling machine can be achieved with simple construction.
- the hood essentially consists of an upper and a lower sheet which are connected to one another and between which a cavity is formed.
- the upper and lower plates are welded to one another and, preferably, the cavity hermetically sealed. In this way, the tightness can already be checked by means of a pressure test during the manufacture of the hood.
- the cavity of the hood is filled with an insulating material, for example it can be foamed.
- an insulating layer is particularly advantageous in order to achieve an insulating effect, so that the disinfectant does not condense on the cold underside of the hood in the hot inner atmosphere of the sterile room and gets into the packs to be filled as drops.
- the hood has essentially smooth surfaces, in particular in order to keep the regularly required cleaning effort low.
- the hood has a circumferential flange which is formed by a corresponding shaping of the sheets used. In this way, an optimal sealing can take place in the upper area of the sterile room which is particularly "at risk" from the temperature level.
- hood for connecting supply lines or the like has flange connections, so that existing supply lines can be detached from the actual hood with little effort in order to remove the hood.
- hood 1 shows a hood 1 of the device according to the invention for sterilizing when filling preferably liquid foodstuffs cut into packaging containers. There, one after the other from left to right, the individual preheating zone A, disinfection zone B, drying zone C, filling zone D and sealing zone E are shown.
- the device according to the invention no longer divides into individual chambers as in the prior art, the individual zones A, B, C, D, E are no longer isolated from one another. Rather, the sterile room is delimited by a surrounding housing, not shown. According to the invention, the top of the sterile room is delimited by a hood 1, into which the necessary supply elements 2, 3, 4, 5 are integrated.
- the corresponding supply lines first include the distribution elements 2 for the heating steam in the preheating zone.
- a disinfectant preferably an H 2 O 2 aerosol
- the packs 7 are dried via a distribution element 4 and corresponding drying lines 4 in the drying zone C.
- the packs 7 which in the illustrated and in this respect preferred embodiment pass through the sterile room in two rows, have been sterilized and cleaned, they reach the filling zone D, where they are filled by only indicated filling elements 5. Finally, the packs pass through the sealing zone E, where the head area of the packs is kept sterile.
- the hood 1 shown in FIG. 1 is shown in section in the area of the line II-II, that is to say the sterilization zone B. It can be seen that the hood 1 consists essentially of an upper plate 8 and a lower plate 9, which are connected to one another and form a cavity 10. Characterized in that the upper and lower sheets 8, 9 are welded together, it is possible to form a hermetically sealed cavity 10, so that the tightness of the hood 1 can be checked by pressurizing this cavity 10 already during the manufacture of the hood 1 .
- the cavity 10 of the hood 1 is filled with an insulating material 11.
- an insulating material 11 In this way, a high degree of thermal insulation is achieved in order to be able to reliably rule out condensation of the disinfectant used on the underside of the hood 1 during filling operation.
- the cavity 10 of the hood 1 can be filled with customary insulating material 11.
- Fig. 2 also shows that the hood 1 has a circumferential flange 12 which corresponds to the dimensions of the side walls, not shown, of the sterile room having the individual zones A, B, C, D, E.
- Fig. 2 can also be seen that the supply line of the sterilizing agent, not shown, is releasably connected via a flange to the hood 1 via a flange 13 to the distribution element 3.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for sterilizing the filling of preferably liquid foods into packaging containers with a preheating zone, a sterilization zone, a drying zone, a filling zone and a sealing zone.
When filling, in particular, liquid foodstuffs into packaging containers, special attention must always be paid to sterilization for reasons of hygiene and durability. The actual disinfection takes place according to known methods, in which the surfaces of the packs to be disinfected must come into contact with a disinfectant for a predetermined period of time, which must then be removed from the surface of the pack again before the actual filling process (DE 30 36 972 C2 ).
In order to make this disinfection process as economical as possible, the move has been made to use H 2 O 2 , ie hydrogen peroxide, as the disinfectant. An optimal effect is achieved if the packs to be filled are heated in a first zone (preheating zone) in order to be able to carry out the post-treatment as quickly and efficiently as possible. The continuously moving packs are transported from the preheating zone to the downstream disinfection zone, where wetting with the disinfectant, preferably H 2 O 2 , takes place. The liquid H 2 O 2 becomes this atomized to a H 2 O 2 aerosol using hot compressed air or superheated steam, so that no larger and heavier droplets can deposit on the surface of the package which could not be removed during the subsequent rinsing process. It has been shown that the short-term wetting with the H 2 O 2 aerosol under a hot atmosphere is sufficient to reliably kill existing germs. In order to remove the H 2 O 2 aerosol from the packs, the packs pass through a further zone, the so-called drying zone. In this zone, the packs are flushed with flowing superheated steam at atmospheric pressure. The packs are then actually filled in a filling zone using likewise known means.
Since sterile conditions must prevail in all the five zones mentioned above, the individual zones are largely sealed off from the outside in order to be able to transport the packs within a germicidal atmosphere. Although the use of H 2 O 2 for sterilization has proven itself, care must be taken with the filling machines used that, on the one hand for economic reasons and on the other hand for health reasons (hydrogen peroxide is a strong oxidizing agent) nothing of the H 2 O 2 atmosphere enters the room where the filling machine is located.
In addition, especially before the start of the shift, each individual zone must first be flushed with such an amount of H 2 O 2 aerosol in order to reliably disinfect or remove the (contaminated) air present. For this purpose, it was previously necessary to rinse the individual chambers of the different zones with H 2 O 2 steam in a certain period of time in order to achieve the desired sterilization. This required a great deal of design effort and a correspondingly high consumption of H 2 O 2 , since the individual chambers can always be inadequately sealed in the transport direction of the packs.
The invention is therefore based on the object of designing and developing the sterilization device mentioned above and described in more detail in such a way that the period of exposure to the individual zones with the disinfectant can be shortened and the amount of the disinfectant to be used can be minimized. In addition, a structurally simple structure is desirable in order to minimize the effort required for cleaning and maintenance.
This object is achieved in that the individual zones are combined to form an overall space and are closed at the top by a single hood into which the necessary supply elements and lines are integrated.
The device according to the invention not only reduces the size of the filling machine used, but also the volume of the necessary sterile room, since there is no longer any division into individual chambers, but rather the individual zones are arranged within a single sterile room.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the hood essentially consists of an upper and a lower sheet which are connected to one another and between which a cavity is formed. In order to avoid the risk of leakage at the points at which supply lines leave the upper or lower plate, the upper and lower plates are welded to one another and, preferably, the cavity hermetically sealed. In this way, the tightness can already be checked by means of a pressure test during the manufacture of the hood.
According to a further teaching of the invention, the cavity of the hood is filled with an insulating material, for example it can be foamed. The use of such an insulating layer is particularly advantageous in order to achieve an insulating effect, so that the disinfectant does not condense on the cold underside of the hood in the hot inner atmosphere of the sterile room and gets into the packs to be filled as drops.
It is particularly expedient if the hood has essentially smooth surfaces, in particular in order to keep the regularly required cleaning effort low.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the hood has a circumferential flange which is formed by a corresponding shaping of the sheets used. In this way, an optimal sealing can take place in the upper area of the sterile room which is particularly "at risk" from the temperature level.
Finally, another teaching of the invention provides that the hood for connecting supply lines or the like has flange connections, so that existing supply lines can be detached from the actual hood with little effort in order to remove the hood.

Dort sind, nacheinander von links nach rechts, die einzelnen von den Packungen durchlaufenen Vorwärmzone A, Entkeimungszone B, Trocknungszone C, Füllzone D und Verschließzone E dargestellt.1 shows a hood 1 of the device according to the invention for sterilizing when filling preferably liquid foodstuffs cut into packaging containers. There, one after the other from left to right, the individual preheating zone A, disinfection zone B, drying zone C, filling zone D and sealing zone E are shown.
Because the device according to the invention no longer divides into individual chambers as in the prior art, the individual zones A, B, C, D, E are no longer isolated from one another. Rather, the sterile room is delimited by a surrounding housing, not shown. According to the invention, the top of the sterile room is delimited by a hood 1, into which the
After the packs 7, which in the illustrated and in this respect preferred embodiment pass through the sterile room in two rows, have been sterilized and cleaned, they reach the filling zone D, where they are filled by only indicated filling elements 5. Finally, the packs pass through the sealing zone E, where the head area of the packs is kept sterile.
The exact structure of the device according to the invention can be seen particularly clearly from FIG. 2. There, the hood 1 shown in FIG. 1 is shown in section in the area of the line II-II, that is to say the sterilization zone B. It can be seen that the hood 1 consists essentially of an
Fig. 2 also shows that the hood 1 has a
