Claims (6)

  1.   2. An apparatus according to claim 1, characterized in that the edge of the doctor blades (8, 9) of each die which is applied against the substrate (1) is made with a rounded profile for the upstream doctor blade (8) and a pointed profile for the downstream doctor blade (9).
  3. An apparatus according to any one of claims 1 and 2, characterized in that each die (5, 6) includes a fixed frame (7), against the two sides whereof the two doctor blades (8, 9) are fixed in a manner allowing adjustment in their vertical position.
  4. An apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that each die (5, 6) comprises a manifold (13) which is connected via a series of distribution ducts (12) to the cavity or chamber (11) of the die in question.
  5. An apparatus according to claim 4, characterized in that each manifold (13) is supplied with the coating substance by means of a reservoir (14, 15) that is constantly being refilled and whose height position can be modified so as to permit the precise adjustment of the pressure of the substance inside the chamber (11) of each die (5, 6).
  6. An apparatus according to any one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the tensioning means are constituted on the one hand, by a tenter (4) which holds the longitudinal edges of the substrate (1), on the other hand, by two calenders (2, 3) provided on either side of the two superposed dies (5, 6).
