- the connectors can be keyed by making one slot larger than the other slot, so that the pins 14 are always coupled to the correct sockets 40.
- the contact body 14 is preferably molded with contact holes formed therein, whereby the pins 14 can be snapped into the holes as is known in the art.

- the second connector 44 plugs into another connector (not shown) that has mating pins.
- the other connector is typically attached to the motherboard of a computer system.
- the edge sections may each have molded in channels 50.
- the channels 50 may combine with a locating edge or pin within the computer, to guide in the board and align the second connector 44 with the motherboard connector.
- a pair of covers 52 can be attached to the connector 10 to enclose the printed circuit board 26.
- the connector 10 may have a pair of second ridges 54 that support the covers 52.
- the second ridges are constructed so that the covers 52 are flush the top of the connector 10, to create a very thin electronic card.
- Each side of the covers 52 may have a pair of tabs 56 that fit within slots 58 in the edge sections, to provide an easy means of attaching the covers 52.
- the covers 52 are preferably constructed from sheet metal to provide additional structural support for the connector 10 and protection of the electronic devices 30 from electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Claims (6)
- Carte électronique, comportant :une carte à circuit imprimé (26), ayant des première et seconde extrémités, et des premier et second bords ;un boîtier de connecteur (10), fixé à ladite carte à circuit imprimé (26), ledit boîtier de connecteur ayant un corps de contact (12) fixé à ladite première extrémité de ladite carte à circuit imprimé (26) et un châssis (16, 18, 20) s'étendant à partir dudit corps de contact (12), ledit châssis ayant un premier tronçon d'extrémité (16) qui s'étend le long de ladite première extrémité de ladite carte à circuit imprimé (26) et des premier et second tronçons de bord (18, 20) qui s'étendent le long desdits premier et second bords de ladite carte à circuit imprimé (26), respectivement, caractérisé en ce que ledit boîtier de connecteur (10) comporte une paire de poutres de support (22), espacées l'une de l'autre, s'étendant entre lesdits premier et second tronçons de bord (18, 20), ledit corps de contact (12) étant formé d'un bloc avec ledit châssis (16, 18, 20), et en ce que deux couvercles (52) sont fixés audit boîtier de connecteur (10) pour enfermer ladite carte à circuit imprimé (26), lesquels couvercles (52) comportent des pattes (56) qui viennent en prise dans des encoches (58) formées dans lesdits premier et second tronçons de bord (18, 20).
- Carte électronique selon la revendication 1, comportant en outre un second connecteur (48) fixé à ladite seconde extrémité de ladite carte à circuit imprimé (26) et audit châssis dudit boîtier de connecteur (10).
- Carte électronique selon la revendication 2, dans laquelle ledit second connecteur (48) est formé d'un bloc avec ledit châssis.
- Carte électronique selon la revendication 3, dans laquelle lesdits premier et second tronçons de bord (18, 20) comportent des canaux (50) formés dans ceux-ci.
- Carte électronique selon la revendication 4, dans laquelle ledit châssis (16, 18, 20) comporte un rebord supportant les bords de ladite carte à circuit imprimé (26) qui est capturée et supportée entre ledit châssis (16, 18, 20) et l'un desdits couvercles (52).
- Carte électronique selon la revendication 5, dans laquelle ledit boîtier de connecteur (10) comporte deux seconds rebords (54) réalisés pour supporter lesdits couvercles (52).
