Definitions
- the invention relates to a device for perfect binding of books and brochures according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the notice is mainly based on the design of the covers to be attached to the book block spines.
- the height of the side gluing to the book block determines the minimum display.
- the machine's installer endeavors to keep the notice as small as possible, since with increasing notice the clean spine of the book spine becomes difficult or impossible. As a result, the installer has to reset all processing stations practically every time he changes to a different book.
- the processing stations are equipped with scales or other devices for displaying the set height (with reference to one of the circumferential levels of the Pliers parallel plane).
- the values displayed on a processing station do not give the installer a direct indication of the setting of the processing level of this station with reference to the notice board or with reference to the processing levels of other processing stations. For example, if the notice has to be selected 3 millimeters larger than the standard setting, the display shows 4 millimeters for a glue roller although only 1 millimeter of glue is applied. This also applies to all other processing stations. The fitter is therefore forced to set each processing station individually and calculate the setting values depending on the notice. This procedure is time-consuming and also entails the risk of setting errors. Another disadvantage is that the setter can only determine the quality of the set-up from the quality of the finished book (or brochure), which requires an optimization of the setting at the various processing stations, which can result in extensive rejects until the optimal machine setting is found is.
- the object of the invention is to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned and to create a device of the type mentioned at the beginning, by means of which device the readjustment of the processing stations can be avoided if the notice board is changed.
- the drawing shows in Fig. 1 purely schematically and in a linear representation the tongs 7 of an adhesive binding machine which are moved in one direction (arrow P).
- the tongs 7 are moved past the processing stations at a constant speed.
- the book blocks 8 (with single or double use) coming from a collation machine are placed between the jaws of an open pair of pliers 7 and placed on a table 9, the individual sheets being flush against the leveling surface 1 'of the Table 9 be pushed open.
- the distance between the straightening surface 1 'and the circumferential plane 7' of the lower edges of the pliers 7 is larger by the amount x1 than the notice "A" of the book blocks 8, so that the book block spine is removed at subsequent processing stations 2, 3 to the notice "A” , that is, can be edited.
- the notice "A" of the book blocks 8 is the distance between the circumferential plane 7 'of the lower edges of the pliers 7 from the plane 10 of the finished book block spine.
- the tongs 7 are closed at or immediately after the input station 1. You press the entered blocks of books together. In the subsequent milling station 2, the back of the book block is removed by the amount x1-x2 up to the working level 2 'of the milling cutter 11. At the subsequent finishing station 3, the spine of the book block is further shortened to the working level 3 'of a grinding tool 12, the distance (x3) from the level 10 of the finished spine of the block of blocks is 0 and thus from the circumferential level 7 of the lower edge of the pliers is equal to the exit "A" .
- a layer of glue of thickness x5 is applied to the back of the book block. This job is done in two stages. A first roller 4 applies a first layer of glue of thickness x4 and a second roller 5 applies a further layer of thickness x5-x4.
- the working levels 4 ', 5' of the glue rollers 4, 5 are offset from the level 10 by the amounts x4 and x5, respectively.
- a book cover 13 is pressed onto this in a working plane 6 'at a distance x6 from the back of the book block. The lateral pressing of the book cover 13 on the book block 8 takes place simultaneously or subsequently.
- the tongs 7 are opened and the book is placed on a removal device.
- FIG. 2 shows, in the same representation as FIG. 1, a possible embodiment of the processing stations 1 to 6 of an adhesive binding machine.
- a horizontal support 14 is mounted in a vertically displaceable manner in a part 15 of the machine stand (not shown) and forms a horizontal reference plane 16 or parallel to the planes 7 ', 10.
- the support 14 is opposite the machine stand by means of a stepping motor 17 and a rack and pinion gear 18 and thus the pliers 7 vertically adjustable. The distance of the reference plane 16 from the planes 7 ', 10 can thus be selected.
- the tools of stations 1 to 6 are attached to racks 19 to 23 which are vertical to the reference plane 16 and which, in turn, are mounted vertically displaceably in the carrier 14 and are adjustable by means of stepper motors 24 to 28 and pinion-rack drives.
- the spacing of the working planes 1 ', 2', 3 ', 4', 5 ', 6' of the tools from the reference plane 16 can thus be selected by means of the stepper motors 24 to 28.
- the installer merely has to set the display "A" by actuating the motor 17 by moving the working plane 3 'of the finishing station at a distance A from the lower edges of the pliers 7, that is, that brings level 7 '.
- the distance from the other working levels 1 ', 2', 4 ', 5', 6 'to level 10 of the book block spines is again the same as during the previous processing campaign.
- the appendix "A" is determined by the width of the glue strips on the side of the book, the distances of the working levels 1 ', 2', 4 ', 5', 6 'of the tools of stations 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 are from level 10 quality parameters, which depend on the thickness of the book block, the paper thickness and quality, the number of pages per printed sheet, the quality of the perfect binding, the thickness of the book cover, etc.
- level 10 quality parameters which depend on the thickness of the book block, the paper thickness and quality, the number of pages per printed sheet, the quality of the perfect binding, the thickness of the book cover, etc.
- a controller 29 with a computer is preferably provided to set up the machine. It has a keypad 30 for controlling the motors 17, 24 to 28 and a display 26 for displaying the distances between the working levels 1 'to 6' from at least one of the levels 7 'and / or 10.
- the optimal setting of workstations 1 to 6 can be recorded directly on the display for each job and can thus be logged. When repeating an order, he can therefore take the optimal settings for the individual workstations directly from his work logs for setting up the machine.
- the working protocols are preferably created by the control device itself by means of an assigned printer or a digital data memory.
- each processing station 1 to 6 can of course also be provided in a known manner with the scales and devices mentioned at the beginning for setting and displaying the set height, but the display takes place in relation to the reference plane 16.
- the drive 17, 18 is also provided with such a scale or device, the display of which is in relation to the revolving plane 7 '.
- such devices are indicated and designated 32.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for perfect binding of books and brochures according to the preamble of
In known such machines (Soviet Inventions Illustrated Section P / Q week 8837, October 26, 1988 Derwent Publication LTD., London GB * Class P76, No 88-262822 / 37 * && SU-A-993199 (Printing Mach Res) 29.02. 88) the processing levels of the tools at the processing stations can be adjusted in height in accordance with the special features of the book to be produced. Adjusting the height of the tools in view of the special features of the book is part of setting up the machine. An essential factor for setting up the machine is the necessary so-called release of the finished book block spines, that is, the protrusion of the book block spines from the clamping pliers downwards. The notice is mainly based on the design of the covers to be attached to the book block spines. In particular, the height of the side gluing to the book block determines the minimum display. The machine's installer endeavors to keep the notice as small as possible, since with increasing notice the clean spine of the book spine becomes difficult or impossible. As a result, the installer has to reset all processing stations practically every time he changes to a different book. In order to facilitate the set-up, in known machines the processing stations are equipped with scales or other devices for displaying the set height (with reference to one of the circumferential levels of the Pliers parallel plane). However, the values displayed on a processing station do not give the installer a direct indication of the setting of the processing level of this station with reference to the notice board or with reference to the processing levels of other processing stations.
From DE-U-8314313 a device for the production of back-glued blocks is also known. It shows stops and plungers arranged on a circular machining section for aligning and moving the blocks. These stops and plungers can be adjusted together and from a central point according to the block format to be processed. Of the The disadvantage of this known solution is that the movement of all working elements must be based on the element with the necessarily longest working stroke.
The object of the invention is to eliminate the disadvantages mentioned and to create a device of the type mentioned at the beginning, by means of which device the readjustment of the processing stations can be avoided if the notice board is changed.
This object is achieved by the characterizing features of

The drawing shows in Fig. 1 purely schematically and in a linear representation the

The
At the following

If after the end of the production of a book the machine is changed over to another, second book, the installer merely has to set the display "A" by actuating the motor 17 by moving the working plane 3 'of the finishing station at a distance A from the lower edges of the
While the appendix "A" is determined by the width of the glue strips on the side of the book, the distances of the working levels 1 ', 2', 4 ', 5', 6 'of the tools of
Instead of the electronic means with computer mentioned, each
