- the governor spring 206 moves the bottom of the fulcrum lever to the right as viewed in Fig. 5 and the valve 190 follows this movement under the influence of spring 192, thereby allowing the left end 190a to open communication between the passages 184, 188 and the bore 186.
- the speed sensing valve element 190 accordingly provides an override of the manifold pressure acting on diaphragm 154 at low speed conditions.
- This speed sensing valve is an optional feature of the regulating valve 44′ and should only be needed for certain types of engines, such as those having little torque back-up.
- FIGs. 9-12 illustrate the manner in which the invention and particularly the embodiment of Figs. 5-8 can be employed to produce the desired high injection pressure over the full speed range of the engine.
- Fig. 11 it can be seen that the manifold pressure for a conventional turbo charged engine varies as a function of load, and secondarily of speed. Accordingly, as shown in Fig. 12, the regulated pressure obtained from the regulating valve 44′ varies inversely with load and speed and accordingly will provide a higher boost to the residual pressure in the injector through the device 28′ at low speed and low load conditions.
- Fig. 10 the result achieved by utilizing the invention is illustrated wherein the desired substantially constant high injection pressure is obtainable over the full load and speed range of the engine. This results in excellent fuel atomization and a minimumization of particulate emissions for all engine operating conditions.
- An advantage of the injector embodiment shown in Fig. 5 is the location of all of the high pressure chambers and passages within the injector body. Furthermore, the leak-off passage, which in buffalo four-valve engines is built into the engine casting, can be utilized for the regulated fuel conduit 40, eliminating the need for any additional plumbing.
- Figs. 4 and of Figs. 5-8 although shown with a single injector, may obviously be employed in a multi-injector system.
- the pump illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5 in fact has three outlet ports for use with a three injector system.
- Fig. 4 there may either be a separate pressure influencing device 28 for each injector return tube 26, or in each injector conduit 27, or the injector return tubes can all be regulated by a single pressure influencing device 28.
- the present system is readily adaptable for use with conventional injection system components, there being little or no modification required to the injection pump or the injectors, and no modification required to the engine.

Claims (11)
- Système d'injection de carburant destiné à fournir une pression de carburant résiduelle contrôlable dans un injecteur de carburant (5), entre les injections, comprenant une pompe d'injection de carburant (1) reliée à une source de carburant (8) et ayant une crémaillère de commande, au moins un injecteur de carburant (5) pour injecter périodiquement du carburant dans un moteur, un conduit (6) reliant la pompe d'injection de carburant (1) à l'injecteur de carburant (5), afin de fournir du carburant à celui-ci, une soupape antiretour (12) disposée entre la pompe d'injection de carburant (1) et le conduit (6), afin d'empêcher un écoulement en retour du carburant en direction de la pompe d'injection de carburant (1), un moyen de retour du carburant (26) pour retourner le carburant de fuite, en provenance de l'injecteur, à la source de carburant (8), un moyen (28) agissant sur la pression comprenant une vanne de commande disposée dans le moyen de retour d'a carburant (26), afin de commander la pression du carburant dans le moyen de retour du carburant (26) en fonction des conditions de fonctionnement du moteur, un accroissement de la pression dans le moyen de retour du carburant (26) produisant un accroissement correspondant de la pression résiduelle dans l'injecteur (5) et dans le conduit (6), caractérisé en ce que la vanne de commande est constituée par une vanne à orifice variable répondant à du carburant soumis à une pression régulée en accord avec la charge du moteur et en ce qu'une vanne (44) de régulation de pression est reliée à une source de carburant à une pression d'alimentation constante, cette vanne de régulation de pression (44) étant accouplée à la crémaillère de commande de la pompe d'injection (1) et fournissant, à la vanne à orifice variable, le carburant soumis à une pression régulée en accord avec la charge du moteur.
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 1 caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte, dans l'injecteur (5), un moyen pour accroître la réponse du dispositif (28) agissant sur la pression.
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 2 caractérisé en ce que l'injecteur (5) comprend un clapet d'injecteur (14) logé à coulissement, dans une relation d'ajustement étroit, dans le corps de l'injecteur et en ce que le moyen pour accroître la réponse du dispositif (28) agissant sur la pression est constitué par un jeu accru (25) entre le clapet (14) de l'injecteur et le corps de l'injecteur, afin d'accroître le débit de carburant de filite entre eux.
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 2 caractérisé en ce que le moyen pour accroître la réponse du dispositif (28) agissant sur la pression est constitué par un orifice de soutirage entre le conduit (6) et le moyen de retour du carburant (26).
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 1 caractérisé en ce que la vanne à orifice variable est constituée par une vanne du type cylindre-piston comportant un piston (32) divisant un cylindre fermé (30) en des première et seconde chambres (30a,30b), la première chambre (30b) communiquant avec la source de carburant (8), un orifice (38) dans la première chambre (30b) relié au moyen de retour du carburant (26), un siège de clapet (36) associé à l'orifice (38) et un clapet (34) porté par le piston (32) afin de régler le débit de carburant de fuite à travers l'orifice (38) en fonction de la position du piston dans le cylindre (30), la seconde chambre (30a) étant reliée au carburant soumis à la pression régulée.
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 1 caractérisé en ce que la pompe d'injection de carburant (1) comprend une pompe d'alimentation en carburant (8) et en ce que la source de carburant sous pression est constituée par cette pompe d'alimentation en carburant (8).
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 1 caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte un moyen (70) pour détecter la vitesse du moteur et un moyen pour commander additionnellement la vanne (44) de régulation de la pression en fonction de la vitesse du moteur.
- Système d'injection de carburant destiné à commander sélectivement la pression de carburant résiduelle contrôlable dans un injecteur de carburant (5'), entre les injections, afin d'accroître sélectivement la pression d'injection du carburant produite par l'injecteur (5'), comprenant une pompe d'injection de carburant (1') reliée à une source de carburant (8) au moins un injecteur de carburant (5') pour injecter périodiquement du carburant dans un moteur, un conduit (6) reliant la pompe d'injection de carburant (1') à l'injecteur de carburant (5'), afin de fournir du carburant à celui-ci, une soupape antiretour (12) disposée entre la pompe d'injection de carburant (1') et le conduit (6), afin d'empêcher un écoulement en retour du carburant en direction de la pompe d'injection de carburant, entre les injections, un passage de fuite (27) pour recevoir du carburant de fuite en provenance de l'injecteur (5'), et un moyen (28') agissant sur la pression comprenant une vanne de commande pour commander la pression du carburant dans le passage de luite (27) de telle façon que le moyen (28') agissant sur la pression augmente sélectivement la pression de la fuite dans le passage de fuite (27) et la pression résiduelle du carburant dans l'injecteur (5') entre les injections, en fonction des conditions de fonctionnement du moteur, caractérisé en ce que la vanne de commande est une vanne à orifice variable amplifiant la pression, disposée dans l'injecteur (5') et répondant à une pression régulée du carburant, et en ce qu'une vanne de régulation de pression (44') est reliée à une source de carburant à une pression d'alimentation constante, cette vanne de régulation de pression (44') étant commandée par la pression dans le collecteur d'admission du moteur et fournissant, à la vanne à orifice variable, la pression du carburant régulée laquelle est sensiblement inversement proportionnelle à la charge du moteur.
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 8 caractérisé en ce qu'il comporte un moyen sensible à la vitesse pour commander additionnellement la vanne de régulation (44').
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 8 caractérisé en ce que le carburant de fuite passant à travers la vanne à orifice variable s'écoule vers la pression de carburant régulée.
- Système d'injection de carburant suivant la revendication 8 caractérisé en ce que la vanne d'amplification est constituée par `une vanne à diaphragme et en ce que la pression du carburant régulée agit sur le diaphragme (100) de manière à solliciter cette vanne vers une position fermée.
