- the opening 13 is surrounded by a countersunk edge area 14, and the rivet insert 12 has an upper, outwardly bent edge flange 15 which overlaps the edge area 14 of the opening 13 on the upper side.
- the side wall 16 of the rivet insert 12 is essentially cylindrical and merges on the underside into an inwardly bent bottom 17 surrounding the rivet hole 11.
- the rivet insert 12 is captively connected to the mechanical cover 1.
- the exemplary embodiment shown provides that the rivet insert 12, at least in regions, has a cross-sectional dimension below the plane of the opening 13 that is larger than the diameter of the opening 13.
- This region or these regions of enlarged cross-sectional dimension can have one or more, for example three, projections be formed, which can be formed as shown as a cam-shaped configuration 18, or as an annular bead, or also as tongues 19, which are formed from the side wall 16 of the rivet insert 12 by punching and bending.
- the formation of the protrusion or protrusions is particularly simple. They are formed with the help of a spreading tool after the Rivet insert is inserted into the opening 13 of the mechanical cover 1. This also applies to a projection in the form of an annular bead, which, however, can also be formed by an upsetting process.
- protrusion (s) as a locking tongue opens up the possibility of fixing the rivet insert 12 in the opening 13 of the mechanical cover 1 by means of a snap lock when it is inserted.
- Protrusions of the above-described or other suitable design have the advantage that an annular gap 20 can be provided between the side wall 16 of the rivet insert and the opening 13 in the mechanical cover 1, through which the rivet insert 12 is held captive but has limited movement in the mechanical cover. This allows easy tolerance compensation.
- the rivet insert 12 can be fixed by clamping in the opening 13 in the mechanical cover, which can be brought about by appropriate dimensioning of the opening 13 and side wall 16 of the rivet insert 12 at least at the level of the opening 13 and pressing the rivet insert 12 into the mechanical cover. It is also conceivable to fix the parts 14, 15 to their surfaces in mutual engagement when the rivet insert 12 is in the inserted position.
- a further embodiment which can also be carried out when an annular gap 20 is left, consists in pushing on a clamping ring from the bottom side of the rivet insert 12 after inserting it into the opening 13 of the mechanical cover 1. Also on the bottom 17 after inserting the rivet insert 12 glued on, protruding over the side wall 16 sticker could ensure the captive fixation as an additional securing means.
- the rivet insert 12 is a captive component of the mechanical cover and thus the ring mechanism as an assembly, which is thus easily riveted to the ring binder 7, in particular also by fully automatic rivets.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a ring mechanism in an embodiment according to the preamble of claim 1.
In ring mechanisms of this type, the rivet insert is used to bridge the distance between the plane of the opening of the mechanical cover receiving the rivet insert and the fastening plane for the mechanical cover and also to enable riveting at this point, as is also the case at the rivet points on the Ends of the mechanical cover is used. Rivets in the central region to the end of the riveting mechanism cover are also desirable in ring mechanics that are very long or intended, particularly much or heavy A ufreihgut take.
In a known ring mechanism of this type, the rivet insert is a part that is supplied separately and is only combined with the mechanical cover when the ring mechanism is riveted into the ring binder. For this purpose, the rivet insert is placed on the associated riveting ram of a riveting machine, after which the ring mechanism is then placed on the riveting ram of the machine, the ring binder is placed, and finally all rivets are attached in a joint operation.
The presence of an additional part, which is independent of the ring mechanism, and the manual operations that are necessary when fastening the ring mechanism complicate the production of ring binders with such mechanisms and cause correspondingly high costs.
The invention has for its object to provide a ring mechanism of the type mentioned, which enables simple, fast and possibly fully automatic handling of the parts during the riveting process.
To achieve this object, the invention primarily provides the features specified in the characterizing part of claim 1. With regard to essential further refinements, reference is made to claims 2 to 11.
The design of the ring mechanism according to the invention assigns the rivet insert to the mechanical cover as a captive component, with the result that the ring mechanism represents a uniform, manageable assembly during the riveting process, which can now be carried out fully automatically by fully automatic riveting machines. In any case, the manual work steps to be carried out until the completion of the ring binder are reduced and simplified, as a result of which the connecting process is accelerated and cheaper. This also applies to handling for storage and transport purposes.
- 1 is an overall perspective view of a ring mechanism according to the invention,
- 2 shows a schematic longitudinal central section through the ring mechanism according to FIG. 1,
- 3 shows an enlarged detail of the cutting area of the ring mechanism according to FIG. 2, including the rivet insert, and
- Fig. 4 is a view of a rivet insert from below, partly in section.
As can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, the ring mechanism consists of a spring-elastic mechanical cover 1, which is provided with rivet holes 2, 3 at its ends in flattened areas, and of ring parts 4 fastened in pairs to ring snake or rail parts, which are not illustrated in detail , 5, which, each together, form a ring 6 for receiving perforated documents and can be converted from their illustrated closed position into an open position by unfolding them. To connect the ring mechanism, the back or a cover part of a
The
The rivet insert 12 is captively connected to the mechanical cover 1. For this purpose, the exemplary embodiment shown provides that the rivet insert 12, at least in regions, has a cross-sectional dimension below the plane of the
An embodiment of the protrusion (s) as a locking tongue opens up the possibility of fixing the rivet insert 12 in the
In cases in which such tolerance compensation can be dispensed with, there is also the possibility of a configuration of the captive connection of the rivet insert 12 with the mechanical cover 1 which differs from the exemplary embodiment shown. the rivet insert 12 can be fixed by clamping in the
A further embodiment, which can also be carried out when an
In all of the configurations described above, the rivet insert 12 is a captive component of the mechanical cover and thus the ring mechanism as an assembly, which is thus easily riveted to the
