Definitions
- the object of the present invention is to provide a camping tent which can be enclosed in a suitable bag of small overall size and applied to the frame of a normal bicycle or of a two-wheeled vehicle in general, so as to enable it to be comfortably and easily transported.
- the load-bearing and tensioning structure comprises as its support element a bicycle or other two-wheeled vehicle which is placed in its normal position on the ground.
- the sheet which forms the over-tent is fixed on to the horizontal tubular element of the bicycle frame or on to other suitable connection points of the two-wheeled vehicle by means of a zip or "velcro" fastener, or another suitable system.
- the over-tent is constituted by two parts, namely the rear part of pentagonal form fixed directly to the ground by pegs, and the front part fixed to a support pole which coincides with the most forward point of the tent.
- Figure 1 is a plan view of the over-tent, showing the rear part of the tent to the left of the bicycle and the front part, corresponding to the living compartment, to the right of the bicycle.
- Said over-tent is fixed to the ground by pegs as clearly shown in Figure 2, and is supported at its front by a pole 1 shown in Figures 2 and 3, which is disposed vertically or slightly inclined, and is kept in position by means of a stay rope 2 fixed to the ground.
- the front part of the over-tent is in the form of three sectors, namely a central upper sector stretched between the bicycle frame and the pole, and two sloping side sectors fixed to the ground by pegs.
- the rear part of the over-tent situated to the left of the bicycle frame, is also formed from sheet sectors for comfortable and economical manufacture. This part slopes towards the ground, to which it is fixed by pegs.
- the main function of the rear part of the over-tent is to tension the structure, in addition to partly covering the bicycle and closing the tent.
- the living compartment is constituted by an inner tent (see Figure 3) which is supported upperly by elastic stays fixed to the inside of the over-tent (positions 3 in Figure 2). Said inner tent is then fixed to the ground by normal means (pegs).
- the tent is completed by a ground sheet of impermeable sheet material (for example PVC) for insulating the living compartment from the ground.
- Figures 4 and 5 are respectively a rear and front view of the total tent assembly.
- An accessory element which lies within the present invention is constituted by the bag in which the tent is stored after use and by which it is transported on the bicycle.
- Said bag, shown in Figure 6, is of triangular shape, and of dimensions such as to be able to be disposed within the bicycle frame and fixed to it by passing the closure flap over the horizontal tubular element of said frame, and by straps which are passed around the other two sides of the frame and are preferably provided with a "velcro" fixing system.
- Figures 7 and 8 show respectively the inner and outer face of the basic structural element used to form the bag, it comprising in plan view two symmetrical parts which then constitute the two sides of said bag.
- tubular sheaths constructed of the same material (sheet material or fabric) as that used for forming the bag, and into which are inserted the tube pieces which when mounted one on the other form the support pole for the tent at its front end, or alternatively the cylindrical element of telescopic structure which constitutes said pole.
- the tent according to the invention can be formed from the normal materials for this type of article, and in particular nylon fabric can for example be used for the over-tent, and a cotton fabric for the inner tent.
