Die Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren und eine Vorrichtung zum Steuern des Stoffschiebers einer Nähmaschine.The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling the fabric pusher of a sewing machine.

Dem Stoffschieber üblicher Nähmaschinen wird während des Nähvorgangs bekanntlich eine etwa rechteckförmige Bewegung erteilt, d.h. er wird aus einer unteren unwirksamen Lage über die Stichplatte hinaus angehoben, in Stoffvorschubrichtung vorwärts bewegt, anschliessend unter die Stichplatte abgesenkt und schliesslich wieder in die Ausgangslage zurückbewegt. Dabei verlaufen die Nadel- und die Stoffschieberbewegung derart synchron, dass der Nähgutvorschub erfolgt, wenn sich die Nadel im obersten Bereich ihrer Aufwärtsbewegung befindet; der Stoffschieber ragt somit bei angehobener Nadel über die Arbeitsfläche hinaus. Da zur Durchführung bestimmter Arbeiten, z.B. zum Stopfen, Sticken und dergl., die Stoffschieberwirkung unerwünscht ist, sind schon höhenverstellbare Stichplatten bzw. Ueberdeckplatten vorgeschlagen worden, welche dafür sorgen, dass der Stoffschieber auch in seiner angehobenen Arbeitslage unterhalb der Arbeitsebene und damit unwirksam bleibt. Da aber auch zum Zurechtlegen des Nähgutes unter der Nähstelle vor Beginn des Nähvorgangs oder zum anderweitigen Manipulieren des Nähgutes der über die Arbeitsebene vorstehende Stoffschieber stört, sind auch schon andere, handbedienbare Vorrichtungen bekannt geworden, mit welchen der Stoffschieber jeweils abgesenkt werden kann. Anderseits muss zum Zurechtlegen bzw. Manipulieren des Nähgutes der Stoffdrücker jeweils mindestens soweit angehoben werden (z.B. durch Hand oder Kniebedienung), dass er nicht mehr auf das Nähgut drückt. Das ungehinderte Verschieben des Nähgutes auf der Arbeitsfläche bedingt somit bei den bekannten Maschinen ausser dem Betätigen der den Stoffdrücker anhebenden Vorrichtung auch das Betätigen der die Stichplatte anhebenden bzw. den Stoffschieber absenkenden Vorrichtung. In einer zur Welle 9 parallelen Bohrung eines auf dieser Welle 9 festsitzenden Kupplungskopfes 11 ist ein Kupplungsbolzen 12 axial verschiebbar gelagert. Damit ist die Bewegungsverbindung zwischen dem hin und her schwingenden Schwinghebel 8 und dem Kupplungskopf 11 und somit der Welle 9 unterbrochen (Fig.3); die den Stoffschieber 3 belastende Feder 9b hält den Stoffschieber 3 in seiner unwirksamen Absenklage. Gleichzeitig aber hat das Verschwenken des Betätigungshebels 20 durch entsprechendes Drehen der Betätigungswelle 18 über die Lüftungsvorrichtung 19 den Stoffdrücker 21 angehoben. Dagegen lässt sich die Schwingverbindung zwischen Schwinghebel 8 und Welle 9 auch mittels des Drehknopfes 26 ohne Beeinflussung des Stoffdrückers unterbrechen. Claims (5)

1. Method of controlling the cloth feeder of a sewing machine, characterised in that the cloth feeder is automatically and simultaneously placed in its lowered position by means of the operating element allocated to it, during the raising of the presser, and is released again for the stroke motion during the lowering of the presser.

Device for application of the method according to claim 1, characterised by connecting means between the presser raising mechanism (19) and a coupling device (10) for the cloth feeder displacing mechanism (6), which connecting means simultaneously actuate the coupling device (10) during the actuation of the raising mechanism (19) in the lifting direction of the presser (21), in order to disconnect the displacing mechanism (6) of the cloth feeder (3) from its driving section (8), so that the cloth feeder weighted in the lowering direction is lowered.

Device according to claim 2, characterised in that the coupling device (10) comprises a slider (15) acting on a coupling bolt (12) and transmissively coupled to a pivotable actuating lever (20) for the raising mechanism (19) of the presser (21), the coupling bolt (12) spring-loaded in the coupling direction being engageable and disengageable by means of the slider (15) with a rocking lever (8) which in the engagement position of the coupling bolt (12) transmits the rocking motion imparted to it by the machine, drive to a spindle (9) of the displacing mechanism (6) via the coupling bolt (12).

Device according to claim 3, characterised in that the slider (15) comprises cross webs (15b) whereof the arms projecting away from the one slider side are guided in the elongated slot of a first link (16) which is articulated on a lever (17) which is fixedly installed on an actuating spindle (18) of the raising mechanism (19), which spindle is for example provided with a controlling toggle lever (20).

Device according to claim 4, characterised in that cross web arms projecting away from the other slider side are guided in the slot of a second link (23) which is articulated on an actuating spindle (25) provided with a turning knob (26), which is intended for the adjunctive and disjunctive coupling independently of the raising mechanism of the presser (21) of the coupling device (10) connecting the displacing mechanism (6) of the cloth feeder (3) to its entraining member (8).
