Abstract

A wire fence has a hollow elongated stake for supporting a horizontal wire. The stake has vertical rows of perforations for receiving wire fasteners. The perforations are positioned between two vertical planes tangent to vertical extending edges of the stake, the planes being parallel to the wire. The fastener has a loop for insertion into the perforation, a wire support section extending outwardly through the vertical planes, and a free end at the end of the wire support section, which is bent back toward the loop portion so that the wire is held in place.

Description

The invention relates to the field of trellising devices or fencing, from stakes driven into the ground which support one or more wires, according to the preamble of claim 1.

  • - parallèlement à la direction de palissage pour les piquets d'extrémité en raison de la tension qu'ils supportent;
For these applications, the stakes must fulfill a double function of supporting the wires and keeping the wires in tension for the end stakes. Therefore, they must be able to withstand often considerable efforts in two perpendicular directions is
  • - parallel to the trellising direction for the end posts because of the tension they bear;
  • - perpendicular to the direction of the wires for intermediate stakes (case of a wind perpendicular to the rows of vines or animals rubbing against the fences).

It is moreover desirable that the stakes meet the following five requirements:

They must allow the wire to be unrolled along the trellising before fixing it at the desired height, in order to ensure rapid installation, which is not the case if the wire must, for example, be threaded in a hole. This requirement is particularly felt in the case of vineyards, which require considerable lengths of wire. Depending on the row spacing, there may be 4 to 7 kilometers of son per hectare.

Secondly, the stake must not have any sharp edges at the points of contact with the wire, under penalty of causing premature wear of the latter and ultimately breaking.

En troisième lieu, le fil doit pouvoir être facilement mis en place à la hauteur voulue lorsqu'il est détendu, mais une fois mis en tension, il ne doit pas pouvoir sortir de son support et se décrocher, ce qui est souvent le cas dans les cuvettes, le fil étant soumis à une force dirigée vers le haut (figure 1).Thirdly, the wire must be able to be easily set up at the desired height when it is relaxed, but once tensioned, it must not be able to come out of its support and unhook, which is often the case in the bowls, the wire being subjected to a force directed upwards (Figure 1).

Fourthly, in the case of vines, the lifting wires must be able to be relaxed and removed from their fasteners to be repositioned in height as the vegetation rises.

Finally, in the case of metal stakes, these must resist the aggression of phytosanitary products spread on the vines or in the fields. It is therefore necessary to use treated metals, which are relatively expensive. To avoid a prohibitive price of the stakes, it is therefore necessary to use profiles which provide the highest possible resistance for a given section.

None of the currently known trellising systems simultaneously meet all these requirements.

Ainsi:

  • - les cornières à trous (figure 2) ne permettent pas de dérouler le fil, présentent aux bords de leurs trous des arêtes saillantes et ne permettent pas l'utilisation de fils de relevage pour la vigne;
  • - les cornières à encoches (figure 3) ont des arêtes vives, n'empêchant pas la sortie du fil tendu lorsque le terrain est concave, et ont une résistance mécanique affaiblie du fait des entailles;
  • - les cornières à barrettes rapportées (figure 4) présentent des arêtes vives, ne permettent pas une manipulation aisée des fils de relevage et exigent un dispositif supplémentaire de fixation des barrettes qui renchérit le coût du système;
  • - les profilés à encoches, tels que ceux représentés aux figures 5 et 6, ont des arêtes vives, n'éliminent pas totalement tout risque de sortie du fil tendu hors des encoches en cas de profil concave du terrain et ont une résistance mécanique affaiblie du fait des encoches;
So:
  • - the angle iron with holes (FIG. 2) do not allow the wire to be unwound, have protruding edges at the edges of their holes and do not allow the use of lifting wires for the vine;
  • - the notched angles (Figure 3) have sharp edges, not preventing the exit of the stretched wire when the ground is concave, and have a weakened mechanical resistance due to the notches;
  • - the angle bars with added bars (Figure 4) have sharp edges, do not allow easy handling of the lifting wires and require an additional device for fixing the bars which increases the cost of the system;
  • - the notched profiles, such as those shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, have sharp edges, do not completely eliminate any risk of the wire stretched out of the notches in the event of a concave profile of the ground and have a weakened mechanical resistance of the makes notches;
  • - the perforated profiles with fasteners, such as those shown in Figure 7, are also not satisfactory. In fact, the perforations are arranged on the edges perpendicular to the wires and therefore weaken the stake and their sharp edges cause the wires to wear out. In addition, the fastener a does not allow the exit of the wire for lifting operations, while the fastener b does not avoid the risk of seeing the wire leave the fastener when the terrain is hilly.

Document US-A-1.826.182 discloses a trellising device by means of wires (W) of stakes 5 and fasteners 8 making it possible to fix the wires on the stakes, the stake 5 being a T-profile provided with perforations 6, 7 in which the clip 8 is fixed. However, this device requires the clips 8 to be removed from their perforations when the wires (W) are to be raised. On the other hand the clip is simply clipped into the perforations, the risk of release of the latter is not excluded.

The trellising system according to the invention provides a set of stakes and fasteners which simultaneously meets the above five requirements.

  • - le piquet est un profil creux, fermé ou non, portant des perforations, les piquets étant disposés en service de telle façon qu'un plan tangent à la section du piquet et passant par les perforations ne soit ni parallèle ni perpendiculaire au plan de palissage; le dit piquet a en service un plan de sy- mètrie parallèle au plan de palissage, les perforations étant disposées dans l'espace défini par l'un ou l'autre des plans tangentiels verticaux parallèles au plan de symétrie et contenant le piquet d'une part, et le dit plan de symétrie d'autre part;
To this end, the invention relates to a trellising device by means of wires, stakes and fasteners making it possible to fix the wires on the stakes, each stake having at least two perforations for fixing a fastener, device in which:
  • - the stake is a hollow profile, closed or not, carrying perforations, the posts being arranged in service so that a plane tangent to the section of the stake and passing through the perforations is neither parallel nor perpendicular to the trellising plane ; the said stake has in service a plane of symmetry parallel to the trellising plane, the perforations being arranged in the space defined by one or the other of the vertical tangential planes parallel to the plane of symmetry and containing the stake on the one hand, and the said plane of symmetry on the other hand;
  • - the fastener in service comprises a part in the form of a loop intended for its fixing in two perforations of the stake, to this part in the form of a loop is connected a horizontal part of support for a trellising wire, the length of this part of support being such that when the fastener is fixed to the stake, the end of said part of support opposite the loop-shaped part is outside a vertical plane tangential to the edge of the stake and parallel to the trellising plane on the side of said fastener, and to this support part is connected a part forming a lock for the trellising wire, raised obliquely in the direction of the median plane of the stake parallel to the above tangential plane and the free end of which lies between said median and tangential planes.

The stake can be circular, ellipsoidal or polygonal in shape.

When the stake is with an open profile, the perforations or lines of perforations are arranged substantially in the part of the profile opposite its opening.

According to a preferred embodiment, a stake has two lines of parallel perforations arranged in the vicinity of one another, on either side of a vertical median plane of the stake parallel to the trellising plane.

According to another preferred embodiment, the stake is a hollow profile of square section, open at the location of one of its edges, the other three edges of which are rounded and have two lines of vertical perforations arranged on either side. other of the edge opposite the opening of the profile.

Such a profile allows continuous manufacturing; the arrangement of the perforations ensures an optimal value of the moment of inertia, which makes it possible to use lighter profiles for a resistance comparable to that of the usual profiles. The use of open profiles also provides material savings.

  • - la fig. 1 montre schématiquement que lorsqu le palissage est implanté dans un sol convexe, la tension du fil dans les directions T, et T2 produit une force de soulèvement S qui tend à faire sortir le fil 1 de ses attaches sur le piquet 2;
  • - les figures 2 à 7 montrent diverses sortes de systèmes de palissage actuellement connus;
  • - la fig. 8 est une vue de face d'une portion d'un piquet conforme à l'invention en regardant en direction des lignes de perforations;

Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description which follows of a nonlimiting exemplary embodiment. This description refers to the attached drawings, in which:
  • - fig. 1 schematically shows that when the trellising is implanted in a convex soil, the tension of the wire in the directions T, and T 2 produces a lifting force S which tends to cause the wire 1 to come out of its attachments on the stake 2;
  • - Figures 2 to 7 show various kinds of trellising systems currently known;

  • - fig. 9 is a horizontal sectional view along the line VIII-VIII of FIG. 8;
  • - fig. 10 is a plan view of a fastener according to the invention;

  • - fig. 13 is a view in horizontal section on the line XII-XII in FIG. 12;
  • - fig. 14 is a perspective view of a stake according to FIGS. 12 and 13.

The stake portion shown in Figures 8 and 9 is constituted by an open hollow profile 3, of substantially square shape.

The opening 4 is located at the location of one of the edges of the square.

Les trois autres arêtes 5, 6 et 7 sont arrondies.The other three edges 5, 6 and 7 are rounded.

On either side of the edge 6 opposite the opening 4 are arranged two lines of perforations 8, which extend vertically over the entire height of the stake 3.

The fastener 9, intended to cooperate with the stake 3, is shown in FIG. 10. It is advantageously made of folded spring steel wire so as to comprise three functional parts connected together, namely:
  • A first loop-shaped fixing part extending from point 10 to point 14 in FIG. 10.

It extends from 14 to 15 in Figure 10.

It is extended by a latch part extending from 15 to 16, which rises obliquely from point 15 towards the upper point 12 of the loop-shaped part.

The curvature of the loop-shaped part is such that its free end 10 extends over a certain distance, parallel to the part forming a support and above the latter.

The free end 16 of the latch portion projects above the upper point 12 of the loop.

To put the fastener 9 in place on the stake 3 ,. as shown in FIG. 11, its end 10 is introduced into a hole 8, at the desired height, this end 10 is thus inside the stake 3. By a rotational movement, this end 10 is forced to descend towards hole 8, immediately below, through which it emerges outside the stake. The fastener 9 being made of spring steel wire, preferably, resumes its initial shape by elasticity.

As a variant, when a non-elastic material is used for the fastening, the loop is given a shape allowing it to be introduced by rotation into two successive holes in the profile, and then brought together, for example by pliers, free end of the elbow loop 14, which locks the fastener.

The wire 17, once stretched, is housed in the connecting elbow 15 between the part of the support and the part forming a lock.

As seen more particularly in Figures 11, 12, 13 and 14, the end 15 of the part of the fastener 9 forming a support is at the end of a vertical plane tangential to the edge 5, 7 of the stake, said plane being parallel to the trellising plane. The bolt-forming part is raised obliquely in the direction of the median vertical plane 18 of the stake parallel to the above tangential plane and its free end 16 is between said tangential and median planes.

In this way, when the wire 17 is stretched, it cannot disengage from the fastener 9 under the effect of forces directed upwards, while when it is relaxed, it can be easily released from the fastener, for example for lifting operations.

As seen in Figures 12 and 13, the arrangement of two lines of perforations on either side of the edge 6 of the stake 3 allows the establishment of son on either side of the stake.

This arrangement of the perforations allows, on the other hand, the combination of several stakes between them to form end posts of high strength.

Depending on the resistance required for the end posts, one can build such posts by combining two, three or four stakes.
