- An inner end of the shift lever 12 is connected via a bolt 24 to a lever 26 which, as can be seen from FIG. 2, engages a PTO control valve 28.

If the valve spool 30 is moved from its position shown in FIG. 2 to the left into a second position in which the PTO drive is engaged, hydraulic pressure medium passes from a feed pump 31 via a line 33 and a groove 34 machined into the valve spool 30 to one hydraulically actuated clutch 36. Depending on whether the hydraulically actuated clutch 36 is engaged or disengaged, the PTO drive is also engaged or disengaged. When the PTO is engaged, the PTO (not shown) rotates and can drive an implement.

This is provided on the inner wall of the oval opening 49 and engages in the keyway 52 when the shift lever 12 is in its first position. If, on the other hand, the shift lever is in its second position, the wedge 60 rests on the periphery of the pin 14.
- the wedge 60 is preferably provided with a concave surface 62 which has a radius of curvature which corresponds approximately to that of the pin 14.
