Abstract

A skin massage device for both massaging skin and applying a cosmetic product through retractable protuberances on the massaging surface. A first plurality of the protuberances are retractable into the massing surface, and include a piston with an outlet opening in its exterior side. A rod affixed to a housing in the massaging surface is engaged by the piston and this seals the opening. Upon massaging pressure applied to an annular bead on the piston, the piston is retracted into the massaging surface, opening the piston opening and permitting exit of cosmetic product. The piston extends into a housing supported at the massaging surface and the housing communicates into the reservoir for being filled. The piston includes a side wall which blocks communication between the housing and the reservoir when the piston is retracted, whereby cosmetic product in the housing is forced out the opening in the retracted position of the piston.

Description

The present invention relates to a device for skin massage and application of a liquid product, comprising a reservoir for this product and a massage surface integral with this reservoir and provided with a series of protrusions arranged to exert a massage action when the device is moved, and at least one device for applying the liquid product secured to the massage surface, in which this device for applying the product comprises a protuberance through which the said product evacuates the shape and the dimensions of the protuberance being substantially identical to that of the other protrusions of the massage surface.

Cette bille est libre à l'intérieur d'un logement sensiblement semi-sphérique ménagé à l'extrémité des protubérances.DE-A-2 208 197 describes a skin massage brush provided with protuberances comprising a central channel, the end of which is closed by a movable ball. This ball is free inside a substantially semi-spherical housing formed at the end of the protrusions.

Le FR-E-63 044, concerne une brosse à réservoir pourvue de clapets à billes soumis à l'action antagoniste de loquets porte-poils et à l'action de ressorts intérieurs.FR-E-63 044 relates to a reservoir brush provided with ball valves subjected to the antagonistic action of bristle-holding latches and to the action of internal springs.

One of the drawbacks of all these devices is due to their lack of tightness which allows seepage, if not a free flow, of product when the device is at rest.

The present invention proposes to overcome this drawback by providing a device which is perfectly sealed at rest, of simple design and of economical construction. In addition, a simple device makes it possible to produce a dispenser, inside which the cosmetic product automatically put under overpressure is expelled in a controlled manner at the time of use.

For this purpose, the device according to the invention is. characterized in that the massage surface is designed in such a way that it remains in contact with the skin of the user during the movement of the device, in that the protuberance allowing the application of the liquid product, consisting of a cosmetic substance such as liquid soap, is itself retracted under the effect of the reactive pressure exerted by the skin when the massage surface is supported therein in a position in which a flow orifice for this product is clear and in this that this protuberance is returned to its rest position under the effect of an opposing force opposite to said reactive pressure exerted by the skin, in the absence of this reactive pressure, this rest position being such that said flow orifice is closed.

The present invention will be better understood with reference to the description of an exemplary embodiment and the accompanying drawing in which:
  • FIG. 1 represents a side elevation view of the massage device according to the invention,
  • FIG. 2 represents a bottom view of the device of FIG. 1,
  • FIG. 3 represents a partial view in section of a fixed protuberance secured to the massage surface of the device of FIGS. 1 and 2,

  • FIG. 5 represents a sectional view of the filling cap of the reservoir of the device according to the invention.

With reference to the figures, and in particular to Figures 1 and 2, the massage device described comprises a reservoir 1 preferably composed of two shells 2 and 3 assembled by means known per se, for example a snap-fastening, the upper surface of the shell 2 comprising a filling orifice closed by a filling plug 4, described in more detail with reference to FIG. 5. The inner surface 5, called the massage surface, of the lower shell 3, comprises a series of protrusions 6, described in more detail with reference to the following figures.

In the example described, the massage surface 5 represented seen from below by FIG. 2 comprises four retractable protrusions 6 ′ and nine fixed protrusions 6. All these protrusions comprise an annular bead 7 and a central circular planar surface 8.

As shown more precisely in FIG. 3, the fixed protrusions are integral with the massage surface 5. They can be attached or preferably made in one piece with the wall of the lower shell 3.

The central circular surface 8 and the annular peripheral bead 7 are made in one piece and constitute a fixed protuberance 6. FIG. 4 represents a sectional view of a device for applying a cosmetic product. This device essentially consists of a housing 10 mounted inside the lower shell 3 in an opening formed in the wall of this shell defining the massage surface 5. This opening is of circular shape, and the housing 10 has a cylindrical shape. Inside this housing is mounted a hollow piston 11, of cylindrical shape, the side wall 12 of which is arranged to be able to slide inside the housing 10. The side wall 12 is surmounted by an annular bead 13, which constitutes a retractable protrusion relative to the massage surface 5. A spiral spring 14 tends to push the piston 11 and more particularly the protrusion 13 in its position shown in FIG. 4. A central rod 15 is secured to the housing and ends at its upper end by a conical flare 16. The conical surface 17 of this flare 16 serves as a support and stop for a complementary conical surface 18 disposed at the base of the annular bead 13. In the position represented by FIG. 4, the piston 11 is pushed back by the spiral spring 14 so that the conical surfaces 18 and 17 are in contact with one another and hermetically seal the annular passage surrounding the upper surface circu the flat surface 19 which surmounts the rod 15, and is surrounded by the bead 13. One or more openings 20, formed in the side wall of the housing, make it possible to communicate the interior of the housing 10 with the reservoir containing the cosmetic product.

When the user exerts a push on the housing, sufficient to penetrate the piston 11 slightly inside the housing, the openings 20 are closed by the side wall 12 of the hollow piston 11. This has the effect of preventing a delivery of the cosmetic product towards the interior of the reservoir and putting the volume of product contained in the housing 10, slightly under pressure. Simultaneously, the conical surface 18 detaches from the conical surface 17 and releases an annular orifice, through which the cosmetic product contained inside the case and slightly overpressured is evacuated in the form of a pulsed jet. As soon as the pressure is released, the action of the spiral spring 14 causes the piston 11 to rise and the annular orifice delimited by the conical surfaces 17 and 18 to be closed.

The filling plug illustrated in FIG. 5 preferably includes a slightly domed cap 21 mounted on a threaded cylindrical rod 22. This assembly is disposed inside a box 23 located inside an opening in the upper wall 24 of the shell 2 of the tank 1. This box has a cylindrical side wall provided with at least one . opening 25 and a flat bottom comprising a threaded opening into which the cylindrical rod is screwed 22. In the closed position, the cap 21 which has a conical annular rim is in abutment against the upper conical rim of the housing 23, which ensures the tight closure of this box, which is in communication with the interior of the tank via the opening 25. The. cap 21 preferably comprises three peripheral recesses 26 arranged at the vertices of an equilateral triangle traced symmetrically on the upper surface of cap 21, these recesses 26 being intended to cooperate with complementary protuberances, formed on the surface of a cap of a cosmetic product reserve bottle intended to be introduced into the reservoir.

In the retracted position, the rod 22 is screwed into the threaded opening in the bottom of the housing 23, and the cap 21 is pressed against the upper surface of this bottom, completely freeing access to the opening 25, which allows an easy flow of the cosmetic product from a reserve bottle towards the inside of the tank.
