Abstract
Antenna support for mechanically coupling an antenna orientable in elevation and in azimuth, to a carrier element (1) which contains the equipment intended for the operation of the antenna. In order to reduce the number of bars necessary for the manufacture of the support, this support is produced from a tubular assembly in the shape of a right triangle (ABC) of which one side of the right angle is constituted by a vertical bar (AC) substantially coincident with a vertical edge of the supporting element and, which acts as a vertical axis of rotation, and the other side of the right angle of which is constituted by a horizontal bar (AB) which is cut at the antenna by two axis bearings (40,41) to act as a horizontal axis of rotation. A first cylinder (6) allows the antenna to pivot about the horizontal axis; a second cylinder (5) allows the antenna, the tubular assembly and the first cylinder to pivot about the vertical axis.
Description
The present invention relates to an adjustable antenna support, consisting of a carrier element and a coupling device for coupling the antenna to the carrier element, this coupling device comprising a vertical axis of rotation integral with the 'carrier element and a horizontal axis of rotation integral with the antenna.
The present invention also relates to the antennas mounted on such supports.
Such antenna supports make it possible to use, as a carrier element, the room which houses the equipment necessary for the operation of the antenna; the price of the antenna support is thus seriously reduced compared to the antenna supports whose carrier element is designed loosely for the support.
Such antenna supports are known, for example from the German patent application DOS 2 809 158 and, more precisely, by the description which is made with the aid of FIG. 8. In these known antenna supports the horizontal axis of rotation of the antenna is separated from the vertical axis of rotation by means of a first pair of support bars of the same length which joins the upper end of the vertical axis to one end of the horizontal axis and a second pair which joins the lower end of the vertical axis to the other end of the horizontal axis. The horizontal axis, and therefore the antenna, are thus spaced from the vertical axis, and therefore from the carrier element, to prevent the rear part of the antenna and in particular its power cable from reducing the possibilities adjustment in site coming to abut against the vertical axis. Despite its simplicity, such an antenna support is expensive due, in particular, to the cost of the bars and their assembly.
The object of the present invention is to reduce the cost price of the antenna support which was mentioned at the beginning of this description. This is achieved by reducing the number of support bars required to three.
According to the invention an antenna support of the type indicated at the beginning of this description, leads to this result by arranging the two axes of rotation in the same plane but in such a way that one of the ends of the horizontal axis is merged with the upper end of the vertical axis.
The present invention will be better understood and other characteristics will appear from the following description and the related figure which is a schematic view of an antenna support according to the invention.
The figure shows a carrier element 1 constituted by a metal frame (container in the Anglo-Saxon literature). This frame, placed flat on the ground, serves as a support for a parabolic telecommunications antenna, 2, which is connected thereto by means of a coupling device 3, consisting of a tubular assembly, 4, in the form of triangle, ABC, rectangle in A and two bars of adjustable length 5.6.
The frame 1 serves both as a shelter for the electronic equipment associated with the antenna and as a work room for the personnel assigned to the antenna.
The frame 1 has a substantially square vertical face, provided, at its two lower angles and at one of its upper angles, with
The tubular assembly 4, essentially consisting of three cylindrical bars arranged along the three sides of the triangle ABC and welded to each other, can pivot around its side AC arranged vertically. The bar AC crosses the upper tab 12 which forms a collar; this bar rests, at its lower end in the shape of a pivot, in a plate cut in the
Two
The BC bar has a simple role of antenna support bar.
Des vérins à vis à commande manuelle, 50, 60, permettent le réglage de la longueur des barres 5 et 6.The adjustable length bars 5, 6 are provided at their ends with universal joints symbolized, in the figure, by balls. Manually operated screw jacks, 50, 60, allow the length of bars 5 and 6 to be adjusted.
The variations in length of the bar 5 determine the displacement in azimuth of the antenna by rotation around the bar AC which thus constitutes the vertical axis of rotation or axis of rotation in azimuth of the antenna; for this purpose the bar 5 is fixed by means of its two universal joints on the one hand to the
The variations in length of the bar 6 determine the displacement in elevation of the antenna by rotation around the bar AB which thus constitutes the horizontal axis of rotation or axis of rotation in elevation of the antenna; for this purpose the bar 6 is fixed by means of its two cardan joints on the one hand at the angle C of the tubular assembly 4 and on the other hand at the rear of the antenna at a point sufficiently away from the straight line passing through the ends of the bar AB so that the effort required to rotate the antenna around the bar AB is low.
It should be noted that, as it is fixed on the tubular assembly 4, the antenna is substantially centered on the middle of AB and is therefore offset in the plane ABC, relative to the vertical axis of rotation AC; such an arrangement makes it possible to prevent the rear part of the antenna and in particular the power cable, not shown, from reducing the possibilities of adjustment in elevation, by abutting against the vertical axis.
As an indication, the parabolic telecommunications antenna which served as an example for the description is a 3 meter diameter antenna working in the 11 GHz band and the room is a metal frame of approximately 2 meters wide and 3 meters long.
Other embodiments than that according to the figure can be envisaged without departing from the scope of the invention. This is how the bar AB can be eliminated as well as the
It can also be envisaged to remove the support bar BC, provided that the bars AB and AC are kept; but the mechanical constraints at point A then pose production problems in order to avoid the depointing of the antenna under the effect of the wind.
The invention applies generally to orientable antennas as well when the orientation of the antenna must vary only for adjustments, as when the orientation of the antenna must vary continuously to carry out a scan. .
