Abstract

The substrate layer (5) includes at least one uniaxially-stretched plastic sheet. At the wash fluid temperature, this shrinks, overcoming retention by the adhesive layer (9). Preferred features: The adhesive is less adherent at the higher temperature and/or it its viscosity is less. Shrinkage force and adhesion are related, such that above 60 degrees C, over 3-6 minutes, the label (3) is largely detached from the container (1). Due to its stronger affinity for the substrate, the adhesive remains on it, when parting from the container. Between substrate and adhesive there is a printed layer, similarly adhered to come off with the label. The adhesive, up to the point of separation, does not dissolve in water. It especially includes a redispersible self-adhesive. The adhesive is complete or coated with gaps. The label has printing over or under the substrate and is especially transparent in regions free of printing. The substrate is single or a coextruded multilayer. Above or below, it carries a printing layer, available directly or in adhered form. The substrate is at least two-layered (5a, 5b), sandwiching, e.g. with adhesive, a printing layer. The printing is applied directly to one layer, the other being lined adhesively over it. The label is adhered to the curved surface of the container. The principal direction of stretching is circumferential. The substrate has only a single mono- or Biaxially stretched plastic layer. With several layers, the principal direction of stretching is the same in each.
