Abstract

If fire breaks out, the belt (7) automatically slides in front of the opening (2) in a fireproof wall (1). Two or more openings in the belt under normal conditions are situated opposite each other and in line with the wall opening, moving out of line with the latter if fire breaks out. The belt can run round two rollers (9) on opposite sides of the wall opening, one of them being turned by a closing mechanism on outbreak of fire, and having a ring of teeth engaging in slots in the belt edge. The belt can be supported at its lengthwise edges.
