Die Beschädigung von Zündkabeln, Benzinleitungen, Manschetten usw. z.B. durch Wildverbiß, insbesondere durch Marder, wird in den meisten Fällen schon erkannt, wenn beim Starten des Motors Schwierigkeiten auftreten, bezw. das Anlassen überhaupt nicht möglich ist.Damage to ignition cables, fuel lines, cuffs, etc., e.g. caused by wild animals, especially martens, is usually detected when difficulties arise when starting the engine, or when starting is not possible at all.

Denn welcher von den vielen Fahrzeughaltern legt sich schon einmal rücklings auf den Boden, um seinen Wagen "von unten" zu besehen? Das sind erfahrungsgemäß sehr wenige. Das ist auch der Grund, weswegen Schäden an den Faltenbälgen erst spät, vielleicht schon zu spät entdeckt werden. Oft ist es hierbei nicht damit getan, die Faltenbälge auszuwechseln. Meistens sind die Präzisionsteile des Gelenkes durch Verschmutzung und Fremdkörper so stark beschädigt, daß die kompl. Gelenkwelle ersetzt werden muß. Die Vorspannung der Zugfeder (V) im Bereich zwi'schen den Spannschellen (3) verhindert die Reibung der Federwindungen gegeneinander bei rotierender Gelenkwelle (4), da sich der Ablenkungswinkel - je nach Zustand der Fahrbahn und der Anordnung von Zuladungen - verändert. Die Höhe der Abkantung der Haltebügel entspricht dem Durchmesser des Federdrahtes. Eine elastische Beschichtung (9) auf der Gelenkwelle gleicht Durchmessertoleranzen im zyl.
