Protective device for covering the parts of a hinge

The subject of the present innovation is a protective device according to the generic term of claim 1.

To cover, in particular, the moving parts of a hinge, it is known to pull an elastic cover over the part of the hinge that is fixed to the furniture (fastening part) as a protective device in order to prevent parts of the user's body from reaching into the moving parts of the hinge. If such a hinge is installed in a wardrobe, then another purpose of the known protective device is to prevent clothing items from coming into contact with the hinge, in order to avoid being damaged by the moving hinge arms on the one hand and to avoid coming into contact with parts of the hinge that may be contaminated with oil on the other.

A protective device, mentioned at the beginning, covering the furniture-side part of the hinge is relatively complex and difficult to install.

The aim of this innovation is therefore to further develop a protective device of the type mentioned above in such a way that it can be manufactured much more cost-effectively and is easier to install while retaining the protective functions described above.

The technical teaching set out in claim 1 serves to solve the problem.

The full cover covering the fastening part of the hinge now uses only one protective bar, which essentially consists of two parallel bar parts spaced apart from each other, each bar part of which is bent into an approximately U-shape when viewed from the side.

The two bracket parts are also bent in a U-shape when viewed from the front and are connected to one another in the connecting area by a connecting part, which runs parallel to the surface of the furniture part. The entire protective bracket can now be easily screwed onto the furniture part using a corresponding hole in the connecting part, so that the bracket parts each rise laterally above the upper limit of the furniture-side fastening part of the hinge and thus at least partially cover the upper part of the hinge-side fastening part.

It is important here that the ends of the protective bar that are open at the front in the direction of the door section extend into the area of the movable and pivoting articulated arms, so that the articulated arms can swing from their closed position into the open position and back into the area of the protective bar that is covered laterally and partially at the top by the bar parts.

The technical teaching provided provides the significant advantage of using a protective bar that is very simple and inexpensive to manufacture and that is also easy to attach to the furniture part.

In another embodiment, it is provided that the protective bar is attached to the fastening part on the hinge side.

only on two-joint hinges, but also on single-joint hinges and similar applications.

The subject matter of the present innovation arises not only from the subject matter of the individual protection claims, but also from the combination of the individual protection claims with one another.

The wide-angle hinge shown in Figure 1 is characterized by the fact that the door part 1 can not only be pivoted relative to the fixed furniture part 2 by a pivot angle of 90°, but pivot angles of 160° and more are possible. For this purpose, a hinge cup 3 is set into a corresponding recess in the door part 1, to which hinge axes 16, 17 are attached, which are connected to corresponding hinge arms 4, 14.

On the other side, the articulated arms 4, 14 (which are only partially shown) are pivotably mounted in articulated axes on the corresponding fastening part 6 of the hinge attached to the furniture side, whereby only the upper articulated axis 15 is shown in Figure 1.

The wide-angle hinge shown is state of the art. The furniture-side fastening part 6 has a housing 5, which partially covers the fastening part 6. The fastening part 6 is also adjustably fastened to a mounting plate 7, with the mounting plate 7 being screwed onto the furniture part 2. To protect against contact with moving parts, in particular against contact with the pivoting articulated arms 4, 14, but also to protect against contact with the other parts of the furniture-side fastening part 6, a protective bracket 8 is provided according to the innovation, which essentially consists of two bracket parts 9, 10 that are spaced apart from one another and run parallel to one another.

Each bracket part 9, 10 is bent into a U-shape in a side view as shown in Figure 1, whereby the bracket parts 9, 10 are connected at their end remote from the door by a connecting part 11 that connects the two bracket parts 9, 10 in one piece. The connecting part 11 is flatly profiled and thus sits snugly on the furniture part 2 with a corresponding support surface. A screw 12, which is screwed into the furniture part 2, engages through a hole in the connecting part 11. This is the only way the protective bracket 8 is attached to the furniture part 2.

The front sides 13 of the bracket parts 9, 10, which are located opposite the connecting point 11 and are arranged at the end closest to the door, rest on corresponding contact surfaces of the furniture-side fastening part 6 of the hinge.

It is important that the bracket parts 9,10 also in front view (Fig. 2)

are bent in a U-shape and - according to Figure 2 - extend with their upper limits approximately beyond the lateral, upper limits of the furniture-side fastening part 6, so that items of clothing that fall onto the fastening part 6 do not come into direct contact with the parts of the fastening part 6, but hit the upper limits of the hanger parts 9, 10 and are repelled from there.

It is also essential that the downward, vertically bent ends (on the front sides 13) of the bracket parts 9,10 extend into the range of movement of the articulated arms 4,14, so that the articulated arms 4,14 are pivoted into the U of the protective bracket 8 that is open at the front (closed position) and pivoted out of this protective bracket 8 (open position).

The protective bar 8 thus also protects the user against interfering in the range of motion of the articulated arms 4,14.

It is within the scope of the present innovation if the two bracket parts 9,10 are additionally connected to one another with an upper, horizontally running cover, which cover is arranged outside the pivoting range of the articulated arms 4,14 between the bracket parts 9,10 and which can extend down to the connecting part 11.
