Description
The usefulness of a lubricating oil depends on both its durability (signs of aging) as well as its lubricity away.
It is known to add film-forming additives to high-pressure lubricants, which contain phosphorus, chlorine, sulfur, etc. Ordinary lubricating oils are used from time to time also added elemental sulfur. In the case of aircraft engine oil, one has so far the addition of sulfur or sulfur compounds meticulously avoided because of the addition of sulfur the resistance of the lubricating oil was greatly reduced. Experiments have now shown that the lubricity of aircraft engine oils is decisive due to the sulfur content is influenced in the sense that, with increasing sulfur content, the lubricity resistance this aero engine oils gets better. Natural and synthetic ones come into question here Oils. The type of sulfur present in the oil would be of subordinate importance. It was also found that a lower limit for the performance of aircraft engine oils was at a sulfur content of 0.2%. Oils with a lower sulfur content exhibited unfavorable behavior. As upper. Limit comes a salary of around z ° / o sulfur in consideration. The addition of sulfur can be done in any way, for example, by mixing the aircraft engine oil with oils that are higher in sulfur or adding sulfur compounds, as is already the case with high-pressure lubricants , performs.
