01 The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner as defined in the preamble of the first claim.

In a known vacuum cleaner of this type (DE-CM 85 06 191) a cover for a dust bag holder is fitted into a side wall of the housing. The cover is pivotably mounted on the housing via a hinge, the axis of rotation of which is below the level of the cover. In order to be able to hold the cover in the closed position, a second pivot point and a double leg spring are assigned to the hinge, which preloads the cover in the closing direction. To open a cover designed in this way, devices must be present which enable it to be lifted perpendicular to the cover plane, whereby a spring lock in the hinge area must apply high mechanical force, which leads to deformation of the component, which is generally made of plastic.

The invention is based on the task of taking measures in a vacuum cleaner according to the preamble of claim 1, by means of which a tight closure of the lid and a simple opening option are provided with simple means.

In a vacuum cleaner design according to the invention, a locking mechanism on the device housing is achieved via the locking slide, which can be maintained by using a relatively weak spring. A gripping edge is attached to the locking slide, which is required on the one hand to move the locking slide when opening and on the other hand is arranged in such a way that the force component acting on it runs at a distance above the lid hinge, so that a corresponding lever arm is formed which, when the locking slide is pulled in the direction of the hinge, lifts the lid out of its closed position. The gripping edge is inclined away from the hinge so that as the opening angle progresses, the finger engaged on the gripping edge swings into the gripping recess formed by the inclination and the engagement is ensured via the required swivel angle. The locking slide has a locking lug or locking groove on its free front side, which, when the lid is closed, engages with a locking web on the side wall of the compartment to be closed by the lid, opposite the hinge. In order to achieve tool-free assembly, the locking slide is provided with guide pins that are perpendicular to the direction of movement and that engage under the side edges of a recess provided for the arrangement of the locking slide in the lid. The recess enables a guide rail to be fitted underneath, so that the locking slide pushed in from the free edge is secured against falling out upwards and downwards. To limit the displacement path, an elastically held locking bar is additionally formed on the locking lever, offset towards the hinge, which is arranged at a distance from the handle edge and interacts with a stop provided on the cover in such a way that the displacement path is given by the free adjustment path between the handle edge and the locking bar. The cover is preferably provided with parallel hinge arms.

The cover is located on the hinge area 21 in the vertical position of the hatch 2, the fully opened cover 2 inside the cover 10 just in front of the vertical edge of the opening 27 and the seal on the cover 6 overlaps the edge of the cover. When the cover 2 is closed, the cover 21 is then pressed through the opening 27 by means of the flat bending of the relevant leg 25, which requires considerable force. The lid 2 remains closed during the opening process as shown in Figure 4 until it is pressed against the lid by force. To open it, however, all that is needed is for the finger to grasp the opening edge 8 of the locking lid 7 and, as shown in Figure S, for the force of the spring 9 to be applied to the hinges 3. Since the point of application of the force is above the hinge 6 and the tensile force component (arrow 29) runs a distance above the hinge 6, a torque is applied to the hinge 2 which moves the lid into the opening. The engagement of the fingers on the inclined handle edge 8 is maintained throughout the swivel path.
