Versetzt man eine Lösung von Aloi'n und Formaldehyd mit einem Condensationsmittel, z. B. concentrirte Schwefelsäure, so scheidet sich eine neue Verbindung als gelber, flockiger Niederschlag ab, der in Wasser nicht, wohl aber in Alkalien löslich ist.If a solution of aloin and formaldehyde is mixed with a condensation agent, z. Dieses Condensationsproduct ist im trockenen Zustande ein hellgelbes, sehr voluminöses, amorphes Pulver, welches sich beim Erhitzen bis auf 2600 nur schwach bräunt, sich dann allmälig schwärzt und bis 283° kein Aufschäumen erkennen läfst; es wird im Gegensatz zum ΑΙοϊη von Wasser und den organischen Lösungsmitteln (nur Alkohol löst es spurenweise), von Ammoniak bezw. kohlensauren Alkalien nicht, wohl aber wie dieses von Natronlauge aufgenommen; aus dieser Lösung, welche sich beim Erhitzen rothgelb färbt, wird es durch Säuren wieder abgeschieden. Uebergiefst man das Condensationsproduct (0,001 g) mit concentrirter Schwefelsäure (etwa 2 ecm), so löst es sich mit gelber Farbe, welche beim Erhitzen in Rothgelb übergeht. Es (0,005 g) löst sich in concentrirter Salpetersäure (etwa 2 ecm) mit einer Farbe, welche einer ziemlich concentrirten Kaliumbichromätlösung gleicht; die heifse Lösung scheidet auf Zusatz von Wasser (15 bis 20 ecm) keine Flocken ab und giebt mit Natronlauge oder Ammoniak eine Färbung, die einer loproc. Platinchloridlösung entspricht und beim Ansäuern fast vollständig wieder verschwindet.
