Da viele Aldehyde flüssig sind, hat sich hierbei als Nachteil ergeben, daß diese Substanzen den Zinkhädern in flüssiger Form zugesetzt werden müssen. Viele Aldehyde sind nur in beschränktem Maße in-Wasser bzw. alkalischen Flüssigkeiten löslich. Es wird dadurch ihre Anwendung zum Teil gehindert. Diese Übelstände lassen sich vermeiden, wenn man an Stelle der Aldehyde ihre Natriumbisulfitverbindungen verwendet, die leicht in. fester, pulvriger Form hergestellt werden können. Sie lassen sich in dieser Form den zum Ansetzen der Zinkbäder benötigten Zinksalzen ohne Zersetzung beimischen.
