Description
It has already become known for the construction of electrolytic cells, especially of electrolytic capacitors, aluminum papers coated on one side to use and to stack these papers accordingly. One has for this primarily those metal papers are used that are made by lamination with metal foils created on paper. The disadvantage of such paper-laminated metal foils is there when used in electrolytic capacitors that these metal foils are not self-healing. Namely, the electrolytic capacitor is temporary exposed to an overvoltage, it takes place in the known capacitors at the Puncture point is a breakthrough in the metal foil that persists. A Such a known capacitor is therefore unusable if a breakdown occurs causes permanent short circuit between the two electrodes.
The present invention now relates to an electrolytic Cell, in particular an electrolytic capacitor, in which healing occurs possible defects due to the action of an electric current in the way occurs that one or both of the very thin coatings around the fault location be melted away. The aim of the invention is to remedy the abovementioned evils avoid.
According to the invention this is achieved in that at least one Electrode made of sheet-punched valve metal, such as e.g. B. sheet aluminum, preferably in a strength of less than 1.5 thousandths of a mil.limeter, e.g. B. 0.4 thousandths of a millimeter consists, which is applied to an insulating material. In addition to aluminum it is of course also possible to use a more noble valve metal, such as. B. tantalum, Titanium, zirconium or the like. To be used.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the is marked Arrangement shown.
With i a paper web is referred to in cross section, on which a Sheet aluminum layer a of e.g. B. 0.4 thousandths of a millimeter thickness is applied. The application of the sheet aluminum z can, for. B. be done on the paper base i, expediently by gluing on a suitable binding agent made of paper and sheet aluminum existing unit can now be used in a known manner by layering or winding then own capacitor body can be processed.
If such a capacitor is briefly exposed to an overvoltage, so that a breakdown occurs, the sheet aluminum becomes at the breakdown point vapor away, thereby avoiding that od by crater formation. a short circuit with the counter electrode results. It has been shown that in particular then, if the cathode is designed in the manner indicated, one constructed in this way electrolytic capacitor does not suffer any significant loss of capacity, even if such carbon copies are made relatively often.
