Description

  • Die Erfindung betrifft eine LED-Lampe mit einer Säule, einem Lampensockel, der mit einem Ende der genannten Säule verbunden ist, und einem Substrat, das mit dem anderen Ende der genannten Säule verbunden ist und das mit einer Anzahl LEDs versehen ist.
  • Eine derartige LED-(Leuchtdioden-)Lampe ist aus der englischen Patentveröffentlichung GB 2.239.306 bekannt. Die genannte Veröffentlichung beschreibt insbesondere eine LED-Lampe, die gut für dekorative Zwecke genutzt werden kann. Die bekannte Lampe umfasst eine herkömmliche Basis mit einem Bajonettsockel oder einem Schraubsockel, eine Säule, in der die zum Betreiben der LEDs notwendige Elektronik untergebracht ist, sowie ein Substrat, das in Richtung der Längsachse der Lampe gesehen kreissymmetrisch ist, in welchem Substrat eine Anzahl einzelner LEDs aufgenommen ist. Die von den unterschiedlichen LEDs beim Betrieb der Lampe generierten Farben können sich voneinander unterscheiden. Indem eine einstellbare Schaltzeitsteuerung verwendet wird, ist es möglich, mit der bekannten Lampe spezielle Beleuchtungseffekte und Beleuchtungsmuster zu erzeugen.
  • Die bekannte Lampe hat eine Anzahl Nachteile. Einer dieser Nachteile ist, dass die Lampe nur für Signalisierungszwecke verwendet werden kann, wobei die LEDs der Lampe über eine spezielle einstellbare Blinkfrequenz die Aufmerksamkeit auf sich ziehen. Die bekannte Lampe kann nicht für kontinuierliche, gleichmäßige Beleuchtung mit hohem Lichtstrom sorgen. Zudem ist die Herstellung der bekannten Lampe relativ kompliziert. Dies gilt insbesondere, wenn die bekannte Lampe mit einer großen Zahl LEDs versehen werden muss.
  • Der Erfindung liegt als Aufgabe zugrunde, den oben erwähnten Nachteil zu vermeiden. Die Erfindung hat insbesondere zum Ziel, eine LED-Lampe zu verschaffen, die relativ einfach in Massenfertigung hergestellt werden kann, und die so betrieben werden kann, dass kontinuierliche, gleichmäßige Beleuchtung mit hohem Lichtstrom erhalten wird.
  • Diese und andere Aufgaben der Erfindung werden durch eine LED-Lampe der eingangs erwähnten Art gelöst, die dadurch gekennzeichnet ist, dass das Substrat einen regelmäßigen Polyeder mit zumindest vier Flächen umfasst, wobei Flächen des Polyeders mit zumindest einer LED versehen sind, die beim Betrieb der Lampe einen Lichtstrom von zumindest 5 lm hat, und die Säule mit wärmeabführenden Mitteln versehen ist, die das Substrat und den Lampensockel miteinander verbinden.
  • Die erfundene Lampe ermöglicht eine kontinuierliche, gleichmäßige Beleuchtung hoher Intensität. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass LEDs mit einem Lichtstrom von 5 lm oder mehr nur dann effizient eingesetzt werden können, wenn die Lampe wärmeabführende Mittel umfasst. Übliche Glühlampen können nur durch LED-Lampen ersetzt werden, die mit LEDs versehen sind, die einen solchen hohen Lichtstrom aufweisen. Ein spezieller Aspekt der Erfindung liegt darin, dass die wärmeabführenden Mittel die beim Betrieb der Lampe erzeugte Wärme vom Substrat aus über die Säule zum Lampensockel und dem damit verbundenen Stromnetz abführen.
  • Die Verwendung eines Substrats, das aus einem regelmäßigen Polyeder mit zumindest vier Flächen besteht, ermöglicht die beabsichtigte, gleichmäßige Beleuchtung. Der regelmäßige Polyeder ist mit der Säule verbunden, vorzugsweise über einen Eckpunkt. Der Polyeder kann im Prinzip jedoch auch in der Mitte einer der Flächen mit der Säule verbunden sein. Die größte Gleichmäßigkeit der Beleuchtung wird erhalten, wenn jede der Flächen mit der gleichen Anzahl LEDs des gleichen Typs versehen ist.
  • Bei Experimenten, die zu der vorliegenden Erfindung geführt haben, hat sich gezeigt, dass günstige Ergebnisse mit Polyedern in Form eines Oktaeders (regelmäßiger Polyeder mit acht Flächen) und Dodekaedern (regelmäßiger Polyeder mit zwölf Flächen) erhalten werden können. Bessere Ergebnisse werden jedoch mit Substraten in Form eines Hexaeders (Polyeder mit sechs Flächen, Würfel) erhalten. In der Praxis hat sich gezeigt, dass eine gute Gleichmäßigkeit der Lichtverteilung bereits erhalten werden kann, wenn Substrate in Form eines Tetraeders (regelmäßiger Polyeder mit vier Flächen, Pyramide) verwendet werden. Bei einer alternativen Ausführungsform umfasst das Substrat einen dreidimensionalen Körper, wie eine Kugel oder ein Ellipsoid, oder ein Stückchen einer Kugel oder eines Ellipsoids.
  • Eine günstige Ausführungsform der LED-Lampe ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lampe auch mit einer (semi-)transparenten Umhüllung versehen ist. Diese Umhüllung kann aus Glas hergestellt sein, ist aber vorzugsweise aus einem Kunststoff hergestellt. Die Umhüllung dient als mechanischer Schutz für die LEDs. Zusätzlich kann die Umhüllung zum Erhalten der gleichmäßigen Beleuchtung beitragen, die mit der Lampe erhalten werden kann.
  • Eine weitere interessante Ausführungsform der LED-Lampe ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die wärmeabführenden Mittel eine Metallverbindung zwischen dem Substrat und dem Lampensockel umfassen. Es hat sich gezeigt, dass eine solche Verbindung, die vorzugsweise aus einer Kupferschicht bestehen kann, die Wärme gut vom Substrat zum Lampensockel abführt. Im Prinzip kann die Säule vollständig aus einem wärmeleitenden Material, beispielsweise einem Metall bestehen, wie z. B. Kupfer oder eine Kupferlegierung. In diesem Fall muss dafür gesorgt werden, dass die in der Säule vorhandene Elektronik gut von der Metallsäule elektrisch isoliert ist. Vorzugsweise ist auch das Substrat aus einem Metall hergestellt, wie z. B. Kupfer oder eine Kupferlegierung.
  • Noch eine andere Ausführungsform der LED-Lampe ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in der Säule Mittel aufgenommen sind, die zum Erzeugen eines Luftstroms in der Lampe verwendet werden. Solche Mittel, beispielsweise in Form eines Ventilators, können beim Betrieb der Lampe verwendet werden, um erzwungene Luftkühlung zu erzeugen. In Kombination mit den wärmeabführenden Mitteln ermöglicht diese Maßnahme eine extra gute Wärmeabfuhr aus der Säule und dem Substrat.
  • Eine weitere Ausführungsform der erfundenen LED-Lampe ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Flächen des Polyeders mit einem Array aus LEDs versehen sind, das vorzugsweise zumindest eine grüne, zumindest eine rote und zumindest eine blaue LED oder zumindest eine grüne, zumindest eine rote, zumindest eine gelbe und zumindest eine blaue LED oder zumindest eine weiße LED umfasst. Dank der Form des Substrats kann ein solches Array aus LEDs leicht, häufig als gesondertes LED-Array, auf den Flächen des Substrats angebracht werden. Dies gilt insbesondere, wenn die Flächen des polyedrischen Substrats nahezu eben sind. Ein derartiges LED-Array umfasst im Allgemeinen eine Anzahl LEDs, die auf einer ebenen Printplatte (PCB: printed circuit board) angebracht sind. In der Praxis können die genannten LEDs nicht leicht an einem Substrat befestigt werden, das nicht plan ist. Wenn LEDs mit hohem Lichtstrom (5 lm oder mehr) verwendet werden, dann wird gewöhnlich eine sogenannte Metallkern-Leiterplatte (Metal-Core PCB) verwendet. Solche PCBs haben eine relativ hohe Wärmeleitung. Indem diese PCBs auf dem (vorzugsweise Metall-)Substrat mittels eine wärmeleitenden Klebstoffs angebracht werden, wird eine sehr gute Wärmeabfuhr von den LED-Arrays zur Säule erhalten.
  • Wenn eine oder mehrere LED-Kombinationen in den Farben Grün, Rot und Blau oder Grün, Rot, Gelb und Blau für jede Substratfläche verwendet werden, kann eine LED-Lampe erhalten werden, die weißes Licht aussendet. Solche aus drei unterschiedlichen LEDs bestehenden LED-Kombinationen sind vorzugsweise mit einem sekundären optischen System versehen, in dem die oben genannten Farben so gemischt werden, dass weißes Licht erhalten wird.
  • Eine andere interessante Ausführungsform der LED-Lampe ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lampe mit Mitteln versehen ist, um den Lichtstrom der LEDs zu ändern. Wenn die Säule mit hierfür geeigneter Elektronik versehen ist, dann kann mit dieser Maßnahme eine dimmbare LED-Lampe erhalten werden. Die Dimmfunktion wird vorzugsweise mit einem Einstellring aktiviert, der an der Säule am Ort des Lampensockels befestigt ist. Es versteht sich, dass bei Verwendung einer Umhüllung in der Lampe der Einstellring außerhalb der Umhüllung liegen muss.
  • Eine weitere interessante Ausführungsform der erfundenen LED-Lampe ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lampe mit Mitteln versehen ist, um den Lichtstrom der auf den verschiedenen Flächen des Substrats vorgesehenen LEDs wechselseitig zu variieren. Die für diese Funktion notwendige Elektronik ist in der Säule der Lampe aufgenommen. Mit dieser Maßnahme ist es möglich, die räumliche Lichtverteilung der LED-Lampe zu ändern. Wenn LEDs unterschiedlicher Farben verwendet werden, ist es auch möglich, die Farbe und die Farbverteilung der LED-Lampe einzustellen. Die Verteilung der Farbe und/oder die Lichtverteilung wird vorzugsweise über einen Einstellring eingestellt, der mit der Säule am Ort des Lampensockels verbunden ist. Es versteht sich, dass bei Verwendung einer Umhüllung in der Lampe der Einstellring außerhalb der Umhüllung liegen muss.
  • Ausführungsbeispiele der Erfindung sind in der Zeichnung dargestellt und werden im Folgenden näher beschrieben.

  • Es sei bemerkt, dass gleiche Teile in den verschiedenen Figuren durch gleiche Bezugszeichen angedeutet werden.
  • 1 zeigt eine erste Ausführungsform der erfundenen Leuchtdioden-Lampe (LED-Lampe). Diese Lampe umfasst eine röhrenförmige, hohle Säule (1), die mit einem Ende an einem Lampensockel (2) befestigt ist. Das andere Ende der Säule (1) ist mit einem Substrat (3) verbunden, das mit einer Anzahl LEDs (4) verbunden ist. In dem Raum in der hohlen Säule (1) ist die zur Steuerung der LEDs (4) notwendige Elektronik aufgenommen. Beim Betrieb der Lampe erzeugen diese LEDs einen Lichtstrom von 5 lm oder mehr. Die Lampe ist weiter mit einer Umhüllung (5) aus einem Kunststoff versehen, der die Säule (1) und das Substrat (3) umhüllt. Betont soll werden, dass trotz des Vorhandenseins der Umhüllung (5) der Effekt der heutigen Erfindung in der LED-Lampe erreicht wird.
  • In dem hier beschriebenen Beispiel hat das Substrat (3) die Form einer regelmäßigen Pyramide mit vier ebenen Flächen und ist mit der Säule (1) über einen Eckpunkt der Pyramide verbunden. Die Außenfläche des Substrats (3) ist aus einem Metall oder einer Metalllegierung hergestellt, sodass eine gute Wärmeleitung von den LEDs (4) zu der Säule (1) möglich ist. Im vorliegenden Fall ist die genannte Außenfläche des Substrats aus einer Kupferlegierung hergestellt. Jede der Flächen der Pyramide ist mit einer Anzahl (fünf oder sechs) LEDs (4) versehen, die an den Flächen mit einem wärmeleitenden Klebstoff befestigt sind. In diesem Beispiel sind einzelne LEDs des gleichen Typs verwendet worden, die nur einen Lichtpunkt pro LED haben (gewöhnlich als Einzelchip-LED bezeichnet). Folglich ist die dargestellte LED-Lampe monochromatisch.
  • Die Außenfläche der Säule (1) der LED-Lampe ist aus einem Metall oder einer Metalllegierung hergestellt. Dies ermöglicht eine gute Wärmeleitung vom Substrat (3) zu dem (metallischen) Lampensockel (2). Im vorliegenden Beispiel wird für die Säule eine Kupferlegierung verwendet. Die Verwendung der oben erwähnten wärmeabführenden Mittel ermöglicht, die LEDs mit dem relativ hohen Lichtstrom in einer LED-Lampe des oben beschriebenen Typs zu verwenden, ohne dass Wärmeprobleme auftreten.
  • Die in 1 gezeigte LED-Lampe umfasst auch Mittel (nicht abgebildet), um einen Luftstrom in der Lampe zu erzeugen. Diese Mittel bestehen aus einem in der Säule (1) aufgenommenen Ventilator, der beim Betrieb der Lampe einen Luftstrom erzeugt. Dieser Luftstrom verlässt die Säule (1) über in der Säule vorgesehene Löcher (6) und tritt wieder über die in der Säule vorgesehenen Löcher (7) in die Säule ein. Durch geeignete Form und Positionierung der Löcher (6) wird der Luftstrom an einer wesentlichen Anzahl der auf dem Substrat (3) vorhandenen LEDs vorbei geleitet. Hierdurch wird eine verbesserte Wärmeabfuhr vom Substrat und den LEDs erhalten.
  • 2 zeigt eine zweite Ausführungsform der erfundenen LED-Lampe. Ebenso wie die erste Ausführungsform umfasst diese Ausführungsform eine Säule (1), einen Metall-Lampensockel (2), ein Metall-Substrat (3) mit LEDs (4), eine Umhüllung (5) (nicht notwendigerweise) sowie Auslasslöcher (6) und Einlasslöcher (7) für einen durch erzwungene Luftkühlung erzeugten Luftstrom.
  • In dem anhand von 2 beschriebenen Beispiel ist das Substrat (3) würfelförmig mit sechs ebenen Flächen und ist es mit der Säule (1) über einen Eckpunkt des Würfels verbunden. Das Substrat (3) ist aus einem Metall oder einer Metalllegierung hergestellt, sodass eine gute Wärmeleitung von den LEDs (4) zu der Säule (1) möglich ist. Im vorliegenden Fall ist das Substrat aus einer Kupferlegierung hergestellt. Jede der Flächen des Würfels ist mit einer Anzahl (acht oder neun) LEDs (4) versehen, die an den Flächen mit einem wärmeleitenden Klebstoff befestigt sind. In diesem Beispiel sind Multi-Chip-LEDs verwendet worden, die je drei Lichtpunkte (grün, rot und blau) pro LED oder vier Lichtpunkte (grün, rot, gelb, blau) pro LED haben. Diese Farben werden so gemischt, dass in dem sekundären optischen System jeder der LEDs weißes Licht erhalten wird. Folglich wird beim Betrieb der gezeigten LED-Lampe weißes Licht erhalten.
  • Die LED-Lampe von 2 ist auch mit einem Einstellring (8) versehen, um den Lichtstrom der LEDs gleichzeitig zu ändern. Mittels dieses Einstellrings kann die Lampe gleichsam gedimmt werden. Die Lampe kann auch mit einem zweiten Einstellring (nicht abgebildet) versehen sein, mit dem der Lichtstrom der auf verschiedenen Flächen des Substrats vorgesehenen LEDs wechselseitig geändert werden kann. Mit dieser Maßnahme kann die räumliche Lichtverteilung der Lampe eingestellt werden. Die Lampe kann auch mit einem weiteren Einstellring (nicht abgebildet) versehen sein, mit dem der Lichtstrom der drei Lichtpunkte jeder LED wechselseitig geändert werden kann. Mit dieser Maßnahme kann die Farbe des von der Lampe ausgesendeten Lichtes geändert werden.
  • 3 ist eine schematische Schnittansicht der drei Typen von LEDs (4), die in der erfundenen LED-Lampe gut verwendet werden können. 3-A zeigt eine LED, die Einzelchip-LEDs umfasst, die je nur einen Lichtpunkt (11) pro LED haben. Dieser Lichtpunkt (11) ist auf einer sogenannten MC-PCB (12) platziert, die für einen guten Wärmetransport sorgt. Lichtpunkt (11) ist mit einem primären optischen System (13) versehen, mit dem die Strahlungscharakteristik der LED beeinflusst werden kann. Die LED (4) ist auch mit zwei elektrischen Anschlüssen (14) versehen. Über diese Anschlüsse wird die LED auf das Substrat (3) gelötet. Ein wärmeleitender Klebstoff zwischen der MC-PCB (12) und dem Substrat (3) sorgt für eine gute Wärmeabfuhr von der LED zum Substrat.
  • 3-B zeigt sogenannte Multi-Chip-LEDs, die je drei Lichtpunkte (11) (grün, rot und blau) pro LED haben. Falls notwendig werden diese drei Farben gemischt, um weißes Licht in dem primären optischen System (13) jeder der LEDs zu erhalten. Wenn über den Multi-Chip-LEDs zusätzlich eine sekundäre Mischoptik vorgesehen ist, wird eine bessere Farbmischung zur Bildung weißen Lichtes erhalten. Diese Situation wird in 3-C dargestellt. Auch diese Multi-Chip-LEDs umfassen eine sogenannte MC-PCB (12) und Anschlüsse (14).
  • Wenn auf dem Substrat (3) Einzel-Chip-LEDs (4) in den Farben Grün, Rot und Blau verwendet werden, ist es bequem, diese LEDs in Dreiergruppen anzuordnen und ein weiteres sekundäres optisches System (15) über den primären optischen Systemen vorzusehen. Auf diese Weise wird eine gute Farbmischung aus grünem, rotem und blauem Licht erhalten. Diese Situation wird in 3-D schematisch dargestellt.
  • 4 zeigt schematisch eine Anwendung einer LED-Lampe, die eine asymmetrische Lichtverteilung erfordert. Die LED-Lampe (20) wird als Außenbeleuchtung verwendet und befindet sich auf einem Halter (21), der an der Wand (22) eines Gebäudes befestigt ist. Der notwendige Lichtstrom in Richtung der Wand ist viel kleiner als der in entgegengesetzter Richtung. Die hierfür erforderliche asymmetrische Lichtverteilung kann in einfacher Weise mittels einer LED-Lampe eingestellt werden, wie anhand von 3 beschrieben.
  • Die erfindungsgemäße LED-Lampe kann in einfacher Weise hergestellt werden und weist beim Betrieb der Lampe einen relativ hohen Lichtstrom auf.

Claims (7)

  1. LED-Lampe mit einer Säule (1), einem Lampensockel (2), der mit einem Ende der genannten Säule verbunden ist, und einem Substrat (3), das mit dem anderen Ende der genannten Säule verbunden ist und das mit einer Anzahl LEDs (4) versehen ist, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Substrat einen regelmäßigen Polyeder mit zumindest vier Flächen umfasst, wobei Flächen des Polyeders mit zumindest einer LED versehen sind, die beim Betrieb der Lampe einen Lichtstrom von zumindest 5 lm hat, und wobei die genannte Säule mit wärmeabführenden Mitteln versehen ist, die das Substrat und den Lampensockel miteinander verbinden.
  2. LED-Lampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lampe auch mit einer (semi-)transparenten Umhüllung (5) versehen ist.
  3. LED-Lampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die wärmeabführenden Mittel eine Metallverbindung zwischen dem Substrat und dem Lampensockel umfassen.
  4. LED-Lampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in der Säule Mittel (6) aufgenommen sind, die zum Erzeugen eines Luftstroms in der Lampe verwendet werden.
  5. LED-Lampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Flächen des Polyeders mit einem Array aus LEDs versehen sind, das vorzugsweise zumindest eine grüne, zumindest eine rote und zumindest eine blaue LED oder zumindest eine grüne, zumindest eine rote, zumindest eine gelbe und zumindest eine blaue LED oder zumindest eine weiße LED umfasst.
  6. LED-Lampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lampe mit Mitteln (8) versehen ist, um den Lichtstrom der LEDs zu ändern.
  7. LED-Lampe nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Lampe mit Mitteln versehen ist, um den Lichtstrom der auf den verschiedenen Flächen des Substrats vorgesehenen LEDs wechselseitig zu variieren.
