Description
Contact, especially for switching on high currents and for continuous load with high currents The invention relates to electrical switching contacts, which are particularly are suitable for switching on strong currents without a tendency to weld. For Various suitable alloys have already been proposed for the purposes mentioned, but which are generally expensive because of their mostly high silver content. The switching contacts according to the invention not only withstand high continuous loads and high inrush currents, but are also quite inexpensive to produce. They preferably consist of 970/0 copper, 2.5% lead and 0.5% selenium. The alloy is expediently via a consisting of 80%, lead and 20% selenium with a melting point of 98o to 100o ° Master alloy made by introducing it into molten copper. The accruing Molten alloy is poured into strips of suitable thickness, of which then suitable lengths can be cut.
Contacts according to the invention have a resistance of 2.23 microohms / cms. Contacts with a thickness of 10 mm and 1.6 mm have withstood 45,000 switchings in a long-term test at an inrush current of 30 amps.
The above stated quantities of the laying components have the best results are given, but useful contacts are made within the following limits der - Alloy quantities received: lead J o.8 to io%, Se'_en 0.2 to 5%, copper remainder. Furthermore, the lead can also be replaced entirely by copper. Albeit copper as highly conductive and cheap material. is preferably used, can in special cases but the copper up to to% by another highly conductive metal, such as silver, er = to be replaced.
