Abstract

The method involves using an invertor (3) supplied via a rectifier (4) from the mains (10) and working at a frequency in the 10 to 100 kHz range which is controlled by a voltage-frequency convertor (9a) with regulation and modulation amplifiers (9b,9c). Inputs to the regulation amplifier (9b) are taken from a current-measuring resistance (2) and a power-setting control (5). The output of the invertor is modulated periodically about its nominal level with a modulation frequency lying between 50 Hz and the working frequency of the invertor. A current-limiting choke (8) is interposed between the measuring resistance and the lamp.
