Description
Die Verwendung von elastischen, walzenförmigen Gummiringen für die Dichtung von Muffenrohren, sei es für Gas- oder für Wasserrohrleitungen, ist bekannt. Gemäß der Abb. 1 wird hierbei auf das Schwanzende α eines normalen Muffenrohres ein Gummiring aufgelegt, dann wird das Schwanzende in das Muffenrohr gemäß der Abb. 2 eingeschoben, wobei der Gummiring b sich abrollt, sich breitquetscht und schließlich durch sein elastisches Verhalten die Dichtung bewirkt. Bei Saug- oder Heberleitungen, die unter einem Unterdruck (Vakuum) stehen, kann der Gummiring niemals in das Innere c der Rohrleitung gelangen, selbst wenn er sich verschieben sollte; denn das Schwänzende des Rohres α stößt gegen die Einschnürung e der Muffe d; der verbleibende Zwischenraum f wird hierbei so gering, daß sich der Gummi-The use of elastic, cylindrical rubber rings for sealing socket pipes, be it for gas or water pipelines, is known. Ungesicherte Gummiringe finden aus diesem Grunde meist nur Verwendung für Unterdruckleitungen. Es gelingt jedoch, die Haftspannung des Gummiringes b, dessen Oberfläche meist glatt ist, erheblich zu vermehren, dadurch, daß die Oberfläche mit rillenartigen Vertiefungen h versehen wird, was durch Abb. 3 verdeutlicht wird. Die An-Ordnung, die Form und die Anzahl der Vertiefungen h können hierbei beliebig gewählt werden, jedoch müssen sie voneinander getrennt sein. Wird der Gummiring b eingewulstet, dann pressen sich die anfänglich mit Luft erfüllten Vertiefungen so stark an die anliegenden Wandungen, daß die Luft aus ihnen verschwinden muß. Es entsteht dann eine sehr starke Saugwirkung, wodurch die Haftwirkung des Ringes an eisernen Wandüngen im Muffeninnern begünstigt wird; denn es drückt jetzt die Außenluft mit ihrem natürlichen Druck auch auf den Gummiring. Das Herauspressen des Ringes b aus dem Muffeninnern wird dadurch, wenn auch nicht unmöglich gemacht, so doch wesentlich erschwert. ao ring cannot squeeze through it.
