Description
Derartige Arbeitsverfahren sind bereits bekannt, haben jedoch sämtlich den Nachteil, daß die Fäden sehr oft abreißen, weil keine Möglichkeit besteht, die gesamte Glasmasse derart gleichmäßig zu erhitzen, daß an sämtlichen Düsen genauThe invention relates to a method for drawing glass filaments from the molten material A mass in which the threads are drawn from the nozzles of a melting vessel. Such Working methods are already known, but all have the disadvantage that the threads Tear off very often because there is no way of making the entire glass mass so evenly to heat that on all nozzles exactly
ίο gleiche Temperatur herrscht. Neither is this possible by heating the weld pool by means of the electric current that is generated with the help of ■ is passed through the bath by immersion electrodes, still by heating which the melting vessel itself serves as a resistance body, even in melting processes which, as a heat source, is an electric arc arranged in a muffle in the molten bath serves. The use of oil-fired, gas-fired and the like does not allow either very even heat distribution. The glass is always overheated in places, so that Currents occur within the melt mass, or the melt cools down on others Park too much, which prevents an even supply of the nozzles and the Tear off threads.
According to the present invention, these deficiencies are remedied that the heat supply from electrical resistance heating elements, which, through pipes made of refractory Material protected, are arranged inside the glass mass. This enables to largely regulate the temperature of the melt and, above all, the temperatures to keep the entire bath so evenly that the same on all nozzles Temperature prevails. The heat is used very economically because of radiation losses fall away. The exact adjustability of the heating enables the most diverse To treat types of glass and always to achieve the appropriate viscosity. A part of the heating pipes is expediently close by on the nozzles.
