Description
Method of cementing the base onto electric light bulbs. additive for patent 45994. In patent 459 9 14 it has already been proposed that the socket electric light bulbs and similar closed glass vessels with a heat-resistant Coating of low, the electrical conductivity not or not significantly reducing layer thickness to prevent harmful oxidation and discoloration the base, which is usually made of brass, in the case of the one used to bind the putty in the case of the base to avoid subsequent heating. So far, the Proven use of a protective coating made of water glass, as this is slightly thin, Forms even layers and withstands high temperatures.
The invention is based on the knowledge that there are also substances for the production of such thin protective coatings that do not hinder the electrical conductivity of the base, which are not only heat-resistant in the thinnest layer like conventional water glass, but, in contrast to water glass, do not make the soldering of power supply wires difficult , but even favor it. Acid alkali compounds which contain acid in a certain excess are particularly suitable for this purpose; and solidify from the melt flow to a glass. Such compounds are e.g. B. those of phosphoric acid and boric acid with smaller amounts of alkali than are necessary for complete saturation with the formation of the known crystallizing salts. Boric acid waterglass, i.e. a compound which contains 3 to 4 molecules of boric anhydride (B2 03) for one molecular alkali (e.g. Na 2 O), has proven to be particularly suitable.
The boric acid waterglass is already recognized as an excellent brazing flux known. However, like the usual silicic acid-containing water glass, it also forms glassy, Non-crystallizing coatings with a thin layer.
The application of the new protective coatings, in particular the new boric acid water glass coating, is like that of a normal water glass cover, extremely simple. The pedestals are expediently immediately after blank etching and washing with water in a solution by boric acid water glass, dipped, taken out and after draining or spinning off the excess, clinging solution in a centrifuge @ either in the air or dried at a higher temperature, whereby the desired thin, firmly adhering Protective coating forms. Since the latter acts as a flux or etching agent, so is it not necessary when soldering the power supply wires containing an etchant Use solder wire or the soldering points of the base before soldering the protective coating to free.
The new method can not only cover the base of electrical Incandescent lamps and similar closed glass vessels, but also everywhere with them Advantageously used where it is a question of soldering metal parts, the higher Should be exposed to temperatures.
