Description
Process for melting potash glasses. For glasses containing potash the potash is mainly introduced into the glassware in the form of potash, and both calcined potash and hydrate potash come in at 83 percent K = CO, for use. The latter has the advantage over calcined potash, to be less hygroscopic and therefore only change slowly during storage. It has now been found that one can still increase a huge advantage by taking the place of hydrate potash uses potassium carbonate because this salt is absolutely in the air is unchangeable, hence its KO content when stored even after any length of time retains and when melting down less water has to be evaporated than with hydrate potash, on the other hand, due to the development of carbon dioxide, there is a very lively mixing of the Glass set is effected. In addition, it crystallizes very well and therefore it is can be produced very easily, even in large quantities, with a high degree of purity.
