Im Patent 398248 ist ein Gesteinbohrer beschrieben, bei dem die Bohrer flügel Ausnehmungen haben, in denen die Schneiden aus Hartmetall liegen. Erfindungsgemäß werden diese Ausnehmungen so tief gemacht, daß die Schneidekanten sich möglichst einer Durchmesserlinie nähern. Gleichzeitig aber wird dafür1 Sorge getragen, daß zwischen den beiden Flügeln des Halters ein Verbindungsstück ;des Haltermaterials stehen bleibt, so daß also der Halter der Schneidenplättchen in einem zur Bohrerachse senkrechten Querschnitt eine Z- oder S-ähnliche Form erhält. Dadurch werden einesteils besonders günstige Arbeitsbedingungen für den Bohrer gewährleistet, andernteils erhalt der Bohrer sehr große Festigkeit und Leistungsfähigkeit.
