Description

Diaphragmenkombination für die elektroosmotische Reinigung von Glyzerin.Diaphragm combination for the electroosmotic cleaning of glycerine.

As is known, the electroosmotic cleaning of glycerine takes place in such a way that the glycerine to be cleaned between diaphragms of the action the electrical direct current is subjected, the diaphragms so chosen are that the two diaphragms of electronegative or electropositive potential are. In the practice of these procedures, however, a number of issues arise of difficulties. On the one hand arises from cathodic or anodic water migration an undesirable dilution of the glycerin liquid. They also arise from emigration Loss of glycerine. The pale yellow colored, electroosmotic purified glycerine usually contains reducing substances. It is also impracticable from the large number of possible combinations that can be considered for the individual case to select the coming diaphragm combination empirically.

It has now been made the following for electroosmotic glycerol purification Diaphragm combination found that no longer had the listed side effects has, consisting in that Linoxyn as the anodic diaphragm, as the cathodic Diaphragm of tightly woven canvas is used.

A Linoxyndi junction is made as follows: Thin silk or woolen fabric is impregnated with linseed oil or linseed oil varnish and in a moderate way exposed to the action of atmospheric oxygen. It is advisable, to dilute the oil with a solvent (e.g. carbon tetrachloride) and through repeated soaking and drying to bring about the pore size of the diaphragm, in which there is no longer any loss of glycerine.
