Bei Luftreinigungspatronen, namentlich solchen von länglicher Form, machte man bisher zur Führung der Luft die Ätzalkaliplatten kürzer als das Patronengehäuse, so daß an den Enden der Platten ein Durchlaß für den Durchtritt der Luft frei blieb.
